I think some insurance companies write a car off far too easily these days. I had an accident in a corsa years ago and it was absolutely splatted in my opinion but my insurance repaired it and it was mever put it on the register! It's not only cat cars that are hiding something!
Absolutely Amazing how the Fiesta was up for sale in December 2020 with 64K Miles on the clock for £3695. It passed its MOT after this totally advisory free. Looking at the previous MOT,s the only thing that would put me off was the bonnet catch sticking long before any reported accident damage, I would imagine it's had a bumped bonnet at some point. I really don't have a problem buying a car that's been involved in a crash provided its repaired properly.
I would have one of those LTI`s in a moment, for a family car. The space is unbelievable. The turning circle is exceptional. I just need to find myself a family.....🤣🤣🤣

If you think about what a London Taxi was designed for it wasn't designed to be hussled along at 50 or 60 miles per hour. They are for start / stop crowded London roads, easy passenger access and inner city convenience.

There’s so much that can be done to a taxi. Iv seen them used as a Photo Booth before so camera will be on the bulkhead with computer and a touch screen. It’s great for weddings, which happens to be very big in south west. Probably sell it as is for someone to convert it to their needs as opposed to converting it yourself and limiting your market. However the camper idea is very good that will probably get you the most money for it. But it will need doing asap ready for summer and will command most money then.
Switches near cup holder for rear windows and lock button. Bottom right on dash intercom on off.rear seats will lift up and make more room,it's for wheelchair accessibility.
Driving a black cab can be a bit uncomfortable do to lack of seat adjustment, according to one of my mates who was a cabbie, & fuel consumption isn't as frugal as you'd expect for a diesel.
The taxi engine is a VM Motori, the 2.5 is also fitted to some Chevrolets, Jeeps and the LDV Maxus vans from 2005 onwards. Check the cam belt and get the waterpump done if not already sorted.

Taxi is 1000 miles short of getting to the moon so a low mileage Taxi as most have been there and back again :) (The average distance between the Earth and the Moon is 384 400 km or 238 855 miles). Cool to drive around in, Stephen Fry had one to avoid the congestion/parking charges in London a long time back? Maybe not as cool as that 911 you let go.
It'd have to be very cheap bud as its a double write off and I'd want a very good look at it, you should be able to access pictures, but yes little autos are like gold, I put a micra auto one and got calls in the first 5 mins.
I'd see that as an EV conversion platform and micro camper. Bung a Tesla Model S motor and 100kWh battery and brand it as a "Cab Camper". Bit of a pricey job though. 🙂
James the annoying part about the road tax is a euro 4 Tx4 like yours is a fortune but a euro 3 Tx2 with the ford 2.4 lump is half that amount. It's a better euro class but costs more . Madness. I have a 2007 like yours but it's not on the road because of the tax and only certain brokers will insure cabs for private use and it's not cheap either. Shame
That taxi would be a brilliant give away to a disabled person that really needs a vehicle, a cheap foldable ramp, that be a brilliant thing for the channel the road tax would be a problem as if your disabled you get free road tax.

Cat N cars are often not declared, as owners don't know the history and the V5 is clean. Cat S cars are marked on the V5 as damaged so people 'Lose' the V5 or just have the green part. How Convenient !!!!

£675 road tax ... so diesel isn't as clean as we were conned into believing. Makes the ULEZ look a load of bollocks given the amount of them running in London.
All the vac hose looks knackered on the saab - get some 3mm internal diameter silicone hose (about 3m) and replace all of it. Lovely looking convertible. That loose bit goes to the turbo blowoff valve. Get some flushing oil and drive it for 20mins, refill with 15-40, that should sort the tappets which are hydraulic and sound noisy - You normally don't hear them.
No excuse these days for not checking a cars previous history including it been written off. I think that any car that is written off due to major damage should crushed and not allowed back on the road.
They are Allan, thats Cat B which means breaker, not fit for repair. No one can buy those other than licenced breakers and they cannot be put back on the road. Cat N and S have been inspected and deemed suitable for repair.
@@ChopsGarage The only safe option is to avoid cat anything, there are plenty of bodged cars on the road that shouldn't be. These new catagories only give you an idea of how bad the damage was, not how well the damage has been corrected.
@@Barbarapape can't agree there. Cat cars can have ridiculously minor damage vs newer cars that have massive shunts and repaired under insurance with nothing going on register or owner pays repairs to get cheap job done and avoid insurance.

I caught out my local Jaguar dealer trying this, i waited way longer that i should have for a factory order, when i inspected the car before accepting delivery, i found filler dust in the boot, lifting the carpet revealed ripples in the floor with hammer marks, it took a very heated argument before they agreed to me rejecting the car and insisting on a refund. Caveat Emptor when buying any car, the onus is on the buyer to fully inspect before accepting delivery.

If there has been an insurance claim on a car it is only fair to have it recorded on the V5 if it was insurance repaired or 3rd party repaired one rule for Insurance companies another for the plebs

Why is the road tax so expensive? Is it purely because of emissions or is it because it’s classed as a trade vehicle? Also, is the SAABs roof supposed to be that slow, or is it because the battery has low voltage or not up to it?
Put a flush in that saab, then say some classic 20/50 oil maybe an stp as well to silence those tappets. Don't go modern thin oil, it wasn't about in the 80s.

My mistake. It’s 12 years. But as the obvious buyer for a taxi is a taxi driver then the fact it’s too old for who it’s designed for seems pretty relevant to me. Perhaps you could message Stephen Fry he famously drove a black cab he would give you a decent offer!
@@keithpanda the 15 year limit for London pco only applies in London. A cab over 15 years old can be used anywhere else that doesn't apply a time limit . There are cabs in liverpool on V plates (1999) still going .

@@ChopsGarage yes bud, I don't bother with buying salvage now, take that freeloader court case if that had been a cat car, even if I'd have told her I bet it would have gone even more against me, there's been a case recently where a trader on a cheapie Peugeot lost in county court, then trading standards took him to criminal court, his fines and compensation came to about 6k,its a dodgy game these days, back in the day salvage was great, no one knew about anything, that's more or less all we did tbh.

Not what relevance of them retiring the cabs is. Have we not learned yet, everytime I am told I won't get what I ask for a car I do, every single time!
My mistake. It’s 12 years. But as the obvious buyer for a taxi is a taxi driver then the fact it’s too old for who it’s designed for seems pretty relevant to me. Perhaps you could message Stephen Fry he famously drove a black cab he would give you a decent offer!

@@keithpanda the 15 year limit for London pco only applies in London. A cab over 15 years old can be used anywhere else that doesn't apply a time limit . There are cabs in liverpool on V plates (1999) still going .
