My husband is 42 and I am pretty sure he has this but his episodes occur between 10pm & 2am. I am pretty much traumatized by the violence. His dreams are usually attacks by animals and insects.

I'm 51, and I've had the symptoms of RBD, fighting in my sleep, kicking, punchng, etc. First episodes I recall were 30 years ago, I typically have 1/week on average in more recent years.

I have REM sleep behaviour disorder since taking an SSRI.
I'm terrified of the emergence of neuro degeneration later in life. I don't want to be a burden.

Exactly my scenario. I was prescribed SSRI ten years ago (was on them for about 6months). My RBD commenced simultaneously and has never abated till this very day.

I took an antidepressant (ssri) only for 2 months when I was a teenager (18) but I have experienced rem sleep behaviour disorder at least once fairly recently (22). My grandmother had Parkinson’s.

I have had it on some nights. Actually caused me to try and get out of bed while I was having a nightmare and fell on my floor.

I couldn’t hear video well. I thought my husband developed restless leg syndrome but it’s become dangerous. He’s punching me in his sleep. When we mentioned this to a dr we were told they’d have to report it. We are terrified to get help now and his condition has worsened. Last night the episode occurred really early at 9pm but it was the worst occurrence. He’s otherwise a very gentle man. It bothers him greatly that he’s hitting me. We don’t know where to turn now. He has family history of Parkinson’s and is exhibiting slight forgetfulness. He thrashes legs and now arms in his sleep. When I wake him, he tells me he was being attacked in his dream. I’m considering separate beds but I’m concerned if I’m not there he could hurt himself

Get into a doctor, your primary and ask for a referral to sleep study. Or to Neurologists

I talk in my sleep, I punch the air, I kick.. and yesterday I woke up with a sore fist and feel like I got in a fight. Have scratches on my hand and I didn’t go to bed like this. I have no recollection of hitting anything.

This is so horrifying. It looks a lot like the behaviors of patients with FFI (Fatal Familial Insomnia), a prion disease of the thalamus. Theirs aren't so violent but involve complex hand movements that resemble combing the hair with one hand and putting it in place with the other. There's a patient named only "Silvano" I'm referring to in particular. You can find the video on TH-cam. IIRC Robin Williams was also experiencing this condition at or before the time of his death :(

I don't have a regular sleep schedule so mine happens whenever I sleep. But I remember ALL of my dreams. I was dreaming that this man was trying to slice my stomach open and it physically hurt so I screamed out and was flailing my arms and my roommate kept coming in and waking me up because it kept happening where she'd hear me screaming from upstairs. She told me I was screaming "no no no no no". My boyfriend tell me all the time that I kick and hit him and makes me sleep on the couch. Or I stay awake until he gets up for work. What can I do? I e also never been diagnosed but I'm always being woken up because I'm screaming or fighting.

I have actually had this exact experience that you have had, including full memories of dreams, immediate come out of the dream, and I nearly always hear my full auditory experiences at night when I do talk or make noises - I have had all of these things since I was about 4-5 years old. I shared a bunk bed with my mother and she would tell me every morning of my adventures! It’s funny I never thought this was a disorder, let alone abnormal compared to a typical human brain. I literally thought all people slept this way. That is until my partner of 7+ and I began sleeping together and him being a beyond light sleeper, plus all the other stuff, led me to get my cpap machine for a mild sleep apnea diagnosis. I had a full in-center sleep study performed, and they picked up on the sleep apnea, so I’m wondering if they didn’t notice all of my movements. I hardly think that’s possible. Anyways, sometime within the past few years my boyfriend had the worst night next to me ever and wakes up and films me for about 20-30 minutes as I consistently jerk, twitch, bounce, and roll all over the bed. It was so rapid and consistent, as well as heavily jerky and just BIG movements. When I saw this I was like okay so I was having a seizure for the first time I. My life and you got a bit agitated, filmed it to prove it had in fact happened, and then didn’t think you should WAKE me out of that full body tremor thing? I was astonished in his insensitivity and idiocy in the situation as I unfortunately didn’t get to see the video until he was pointing out how “crazy I really slept” to a table full of our friends, and my not having seen it and being completely ashamed in the first place that it happened, plus group shamed unintentionally when he thought it was a joke.
I finally told him how truly F*d up that was and he was completely unaware, so naturally he was full of remorse and guilt, but I digress.
Being that I thought this was normal my whole life, I’m now thinking that I have this Because no joke, I checked off every single item on the list in the DSMR. Sorry to super ramble but I felt a mutual connection to you because apparently we sleep the same way.

Perhaps RBD is treated by chlonozepam successfully. I rather think the benzodiazepams inhibit normal REM sleep and will over time lead to reduced or absence of REM sleep more problems including AD.

Would you happen to know if there are any research groups for anyone experiencing REM sleep disorder. My father was diagnosed last year and he will begin to take CBD oil since studies have shown that it reduces the REM sleep stage (which he is typically kicking, screaming, talking in his sleep). I would love to link my father to a group that is researching this. He is Spanish speaking from Mexico and currently residing in the Central Valley in California. If you have any information I would love to give it to my father.

Idk if youre serious but i second that. I have episodes every so often where i wake up around that time and Ill hear a loud ring, wake up but cant move or make noise. And a silhouette of a tall man in a fedora and trench coat is standing within my view and i feel like hes standing there waiting for me to die. i try to scream to get my fiances attention but i cant and then finally i can after trying real hard and Several times hes had to lift me up or shake me to get me to be able to move and quit screaming. And a few times ive screamed "HES HERE HES HERE!"
