Hi Sweet Ladies...I hope that this video has given you some inspiration and ideas to help you look chic this summer even when it is sweltering hot outside. If you are looking for more warm weather summer outfit ideas, you will want to watch this video next: th-cam.com/video/TQVVtoSisSI/w-d-xo.html. I'm sharing my top tips for looking confident in shorts as well as sharing some of my favorite go-to shorts outfits.
Do you have mother of the groom dress suggestions for a SC low country wedding? I’ve purchased and returned several dresses. I’ve kept a high low Kay Unger to consider. It’s sleeveless and fits well but the fabric is heavy. I’d like something breezier. Running out of time since the wedding is in August! ☺️
Regarding the fabrics... I would even try to leave out any hint of spandex. And I say no to Tencel. I know it is better for the environment than Viscose/Rayon, but that is easily solved by limiting yourself to vintage viscose. Tencell/Lyocell is a nightmare with stains and retaining the dyes. I made the mistake to get an item made from it once or twice, but those pieces were ruined after a few wears and washes. Never again.
Thanks for these ideas: some I already do (maxi/midi dresses are my favorites!) & others for me to consider to incorporate, as we may relocate to NV from SE MI! ❤ I do have both of those platform styles by Crocs, though. 😁
I grew up in India and summer heat was best managed by wearing cotton voile dresses with salwars(bottoms) or pyjamas. We also covered our heads with thin dupattas(thin chiffon) to protect from Sun. Most of the time you could get fabric and get these dressed custom made for yourself at minimal cost. I feel that is the best way. Instead of buying everything from the big department stores and wear a uniform.
Many years ago, I was in Barcelona during August and could not believe how hot it was (I live in the sweltering heat of Texas and Barcelona still felt hotter due to humidity). I brought tons of shorts, but figured out that dresses are SO much cooler because they allow air to blow around the body. As a result, I now own about 50 dresses that I basically wear all summer :) Dresses are the best kept secret to staying cool!
I am from Spain and yeah we have three months of terrible hot temperatures. A part from the subject of clothes, the real struggle for me is that I am sweating all day, it's impossible the wear makeup or have the hair nice .. it is what it is ..
Oh tell me about it. A couple of years ago (2019) we had a HEATWAVE (600km south of Barcelona) it normally gets to mid 30 but we were hitting 40 (104 F) with massive humidity. Luckily up in the hills it gets really windy in the afternoons. But clothes were 100% optional. The minute you put anything on it instantly stuck to you. Yuck.
I’m a linen addict. And I also love ramie. I agree with all of your sentiments except in linen. Plus linen has natural antibacterial properties-just in case you do sweat it’s going to keep you fresh. It’s durable, retains its color, and gets softer over time. I just love it. There are some linen-cotton blends out there, but I enjoy pure linen.
I'm with you Lux one🌿 Linnen is more globally/historically traditional too, it lasts much, much longer, gets softer with washings, and, as you say; stays clean-smelling a LOT longer than cotton! Some weaves aren't so wrinkly, & they're so textural & beautiful. I don't iron either🌿
I also converted to linen. I wore a linen skirt out yesterday, and wear linen shorts at home in the summer, and the heat is more bearable. I also bought several linen sheet sets....worth every penny. They are cool in hot times and warm in the winter. Do not dry your linen all the way if you use a dryer. Linen loves to be damp, and if you dry it too much, the fiber will break and it will no longer suck up moisture.
Oh, great linen tips! Yes, same here. Love all things linen. It’s such a natural temperature regulator. Haven’t pulled the trigger on the sheets yet, but soon. 🥰
I’m 25 and still feel like all of your tips are applicable to anyone who doesn’t wan’t to show a ton of skin or just wants to dress a little more mature and elegant. Thank you so much! 💕
Yes, I am turning 30 next year but already mum to two so I want to feel more grown Up, and have never been comfertable with showing so much skin, never were a small bikini since becoming a teen, Love the old fashioned swimsuits more.
Hi Erin, I just wanted to say thank you for what you do. I am 58 years old and recently really started feeling "old". I just discovered your site, subscribed and it has consumed my weekend lol, been watching nothing else for 2 days. I have picked up so many great tips. Thank you, you are appreciated!
I ditched the shorts about 4 years ago ( I’m soon to be 47) and I couldn’t be happier and cooler. I get so many more compliments on dresses and pants and skirts then I ever got in shorts (even WHEN my legs looked amazing). And it’s actually easier to put chic outfits together. Great video!
There is nothing wrong with proper shorts. Just takes a PHD to find good ones. I graduaded in shorts finding last year, and now they are fully back in my wardrobe. My quick tips: always 100% cotton, proper hems, proper rise (28cm front, 38cm back bare minimum), 7-20cm inseam, no distress/frays, and leg opening 1-finger loose at 7-10cm inseam, up to a proper flare for 15-20cm inseam.
I agree with everything - except those sandals (I wear Birkenstock for about eight months of the year in various styles; those sandals look cheap to me). However, you didn't mention seersucker, and it's a great summer cotton fabric. I live in southern Nevada where it's regularly 110F in the summer. A loose fitting seersucker dress is one of my favorite go-tos, along with the wonderful Grace blouse from On My Gauze, which has a very flattering fit. I am 74. I wear cotton capris, cotton blouses and shirts, and cotton dresses all summer. You also briefly mentioned the freezing a/c in so many places. I carry a lightweight cashmere cardigan wherever I go.
Jcrew has cotton blouses that are very similar to the Rails blouse Erin showcases that are reasonably priced, good quality and come in a few colors. Love them!
I abandoned shorts and jeans in the summer years ago, preferring skirts and dresses in the humid heat of the American South. They’re cooler, feel fresher longer and look better. My go to fabrics are lightweight cotton and, yes, linen. To me, linen is the coolest choice and there’s a tremendous variety of styles available now. Does it wrinkle? Yes. Do I care? Nope. As long as I’m cool, I’m happy.
Great video, Erin. Thank you! I love to wear dresses in the summer heat. A trick I learned recently from my daughter is to wear bike shorts under them. As sport clothing tends to be breathable, the bike shorts add an extra layer of support and comfort around the thighs without adding much heat to the outfit.
I never thought of this. I’ve worn Spanks under summer dresses but in the heat they can be miserable. At the same time I see so many women not wearing anything under dresses and a lot of the time I see things that I wouldn’t personally want to show other people. Always looking for a happy medium.
@@katharineal1168 agreed. I actually have some slips that are basically a split skirt. They keep my legs from rubbing together and prevent show-through. I stay comfortable and nobody see all my ‘contours’!
First...your lipstick is 🔥 I love shorts with a long sleeve top! I lived in AZ for many years and you always see the people taking care of lawns and grounds in 115 degrees and they are COVERED UP. Long sleeves, long pants, hats, etc. It really does help to carry around your own shade!
I have linen pants in about 6 colours slim leg through wide leg and love them. For hot days the wide leg gauzy weaves are best. For summer evenings the slim leg thicker weaves are best. Plus I love a floaty linen top of varying sleeve lengths and weaves as well. Plus linen shorts…I could go on!
Do you find your linen pants if tighter fitting tend to stretch and bag out in the knees and butt? And then wrinkle all up? Linen is tough for me it gets stretched and wrinkled... Any tips?
Yes, fabric makes a huge difference. I can’t stand polyester! I hate ironing so what I do is throw a shirt on the dryer, low setting for a couple of minutes and it comes out wrinkle free ☺️
I’m 25, but my husband and I are moving to Florida this summer and I needed tips for how to dress in year-round warmth. This video was so helpful to me, and even though I’m younger I resinate with so much of what you said! I definitely prefer to dress more on the modest side, and I love an elegant look. 💕
I love dresses, but with my size 14ish figure it is not easy to find dresses to fit nicely. Maybe I can find one for this summer. My go to for hot summer days is a pair of Linen drawstring pants and a simple cotton tee with a pair of sandals. It looks effortless and it's super comfy. I wear just a BB cream with a spf in it, some bronzer and a colored lip balm. Nowadays, my whole approach is less is more, with the exception of sunnies who doesn't love a pair that are oversized and on the luxe side. That is such a great statement piece in my opinion.
That is a GREAT go-to for summer, Mary! I think you'll find some lovely dresses this summer...That's a great makeup routine too. Less is more. Thanks for watching! xo
I wore a skirt in Thailand and within minutes was in agony from thigh chafing! Appropriate underwear is a must for us gals whose thighs rub. I live in Turkey now and have a selection of thigh length underwear for underneath my skirts. Also, you didn’t mention fabric colour! If you perspire heavily - dark colours are unforgiving. Pick a colour/pattern that will hide the sweat patches! Agree on the long-sleeved cotton shirts! Keep me cool and protected in the hot sun!
@@26Monkeys I just discovered some ‘thigh bands’ from the USA that have good reviews. Sounds much better (cooler) than wearing biker shorts! Will try them out I think!
@@26Monkeys I purchased underwear online that are designed to absorb-specifically for periods and bladder leaks-but I wear them to catch the sweat mostly! They are amazing. I have had mine for a number of years and don’t remember the brand, but I am sure you can search them out online.
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this video! I literally think of this issue every single day! I live in the US south and feel like I can't even go outside for half the year without sweating through everything, and looking polished has been out of the question... I even hired a wardrobe professional to help with this (a person I thought would be THE expert) and she was never able to create realistic outfits for me! I'm not 40 yet, but have gained a lot of weight recently and don't feel comfortable showing off my body, so her recommendations of tank tops and tight jean skirts with hats were a super NO for me, and I've remained lost. Thank you SO MUCH for addressing this MUCH NEEDED topic!!!
Trust me…20 years from now you will appreciate how your skin, knees etc. look now! I am challenging myself to wear dresses this summer, would love a printed midi skirt idea. I also love to iron/steam 😅…love the long sleeve shirt with shirts idea. Keep up the great videos!
Thnx for triggering a memory from my mom. She used to say to me when I eschewed having my photo taken: "Trust me, 10 years from now you're really going to wish you had this photo!". She was so right!
You're exactly right! Life is too short to not wear what we love...I'm definitely wearing my shorts, but there's many reasons that more coverage can help us feel a bit more confident, which helps us feel our best! Thanks so much for watching! xo
I so agree. I worked with younger girls and one year they gave me a picture of me with all of them in a frame. I hated that picture…thought I looked so old..now I look at it and think I wish I looked like that again.
Awesome awesome tips! I love a classic cotton buttoned shirt with shorts. I would probably also add color as a consideration, not just in terms of how much it will absorb or reflect the sun, but also if sweat will leave the fabric ten shades darker when it gets wet. There are certain pieces I won't wear on hot days because I know pit stains and drops of sweat on my chest are going to be super noticeable.
Erin, I wish I could love this video ten times. How did you know I needed this?! I’m planning outfits for a Caribbean cruise in July and I’m concerned about the heat. I want to be cool, but I also want to be chic. Additionally, I live in Florida (aka the devil’s bum crack) and I find that the older I get, the more I detest the heat. Thank you for your timely video! Mary in Florida 🌺
Very good analysis. Also, just like a hat keeps you warmer in the winter, a light, more open weave hat can keep you cooler as it keeps the sun off your head.
Thanks for this video Erin. As a tomboy and an older female, I can't work in dresses and get what I need to get done. It's tricky. I now live in a small coastal town where it's cold most of the time. I'm happy to wear pants year-round. I LOVE pants in cool to warm weather with a light top and a very light jacket - just in case it gets even cooler. You are much more of a girly girl than I am but your advice is elevating my tom-boy look to a higher level of being me. Thank you!
I recently discovered your videos and am watching more and more of them. As I continued to age and was no longer able to pull off the minis and bodycon stuff I used to wear last decade and earlier, I moved into midi skirts in summer - with tank tops. Now that I'm 60, even tank tops are a little more difficult to pull off even though I'm still in good shape. Finding myself at a loss, I went searching for TH-cam help and found your spectacular videos - so I'm paying attention to your styles like the green cotton poplin you show and all the t-shirts with details - typically not my style, but re-inventing myself means opening my brain to different options. You are helping with that as based on your videos, I'm paying attention to - and trying on - things I'd have ignored earlier. Thank you, because I have always been stylish and I have no interest in that short sleeve / cotton scoop neck & capri uniform so many women 55+ seem to wear.
Thanks so much for your comment, Judi! So glad you're enjoying my tips. As we get older it can be tough, when we feel that we can't wear some of the things we have for years...but it's also a fun time to re-discover and reinvent our style! So glad you are here! xo
Erin you are such a big blessing. I always love to see the way you are dressed in your videos and how you put things together to the detail and do the complete look including jewelry, shoes, lipstick, belts,…You truly are a professional stylist. I feel so blessed to have access to all of your advice. And, honestly you would look good in a trash bag, ha!
Great content! I live in a tropical climate, extremely hot and humid, I need to stay cool, dry and also protect from sun and mosquitoes. The best outfit for me is a long sleeve, mid/long dress, white or beige, linen or loosely woven cotton, paired with a cotton gauze slip. The DOUBLE LAYER is my secret to stay as cool and dry as possible. I always have a stole in my bag to put on my shoulder when I enter an air conditioned space.
Great suggestions- I have used them in the past with positive results! It's is a challenge to understand your body has changed over the years & U will not look the same as before- & your goal is to be honest where you are Now not in the past & come up with creative flattering ways to look & feeling the best Person U are now, & U DO have so many positive aspects about U to shine- starting with that confidence, & Smile that people see & feel about U right away. If U come across as not liking yourself, the energy passes to others.
A question I do have that mYbe others have some ideas or tips. Many of us can be quite Pale, not tan & healthy looking. I do have a very light olive overtone, brown spots freckles & body wise & at 71, the chest i& face is is going south. I don't want to spend time getting a tan outside or booths. I wants to look like I have some color. Is Coppertone or other creems suggestioned? I know that may people are using NUDE to be more natural panty Hose What About our arms & backs. Is it r tacky to were nude pantyhose with short skirts/ Jacket outfits?
It's crazy hot and humid year round here - need more midi dresses. I love flat sandals on other people, but I'm petite, and flat shoes make my feet look like boats. Also, the heel balances me out bc it makes me taller. I try to save my skin from the sun as well without slathering on more sunscreen. Some sunscreen stings my eyes and contains chemicals. Ooof.
Thank you for making this video! Living in a tropical climate, I’m often looking for affordable cotton choices mostly going for vintage. I’ve always been drawn to dresses, fortunately. Still glad for your suggestions!
Hi Erin, I have 4 pair of linen pants , a few from J Crew and they are very cool, especially in the heat. Thank you for all the great ideas, I never thought to wear a long sleeve cotton blouse in 90+ degrees but it does make sense. 🌻🌻
I get a lot of pants and tops from J. Crew. I am a OOOP and their pants really fit me. Their quality is very good as well. I buy XXSP in tops that fit on the on the rumey size but work.
Yes! Long sleeve white linen or cotton shirts . I just bought two! Also, love breezy wide leg pants and midi skirts for summer. I want to protect my skin and stay cool at the same time.
great advice on the long sleeve tops, lightweight cotton and gauze is comfortable in the heat, Target has some simple chic gauze clothing, worth checking out, prices excellent and look higher end. Thanks for the inspiration Erin, you always look great
Thanks Erin! I also love the coolness of Searsucker, one root name being shir o shakar (milk & sugar--like the smooth & chunky weave in Farsi). It's an intelligently invented, beautifully, ancient weave, (though later popularized in suit form by European colonists). Like linnen, it's an ancient weave, designed for heat, and looks great as any shirt, skirt, dress, pants or suit 🌿
@@BusbeeStyle I've never worn sliders before. They feel amazing! How do I keep them on my feet?? Is it a special skill? I've heard you can use extra hold hairspray. I'm doing this on my Cunard Facebook style channel this week. a live stream video to see if it works.
Got to have a hat with a wide brim and an insulated reusable water bottle. I have a sweating problem. Bike shorts under a skirt or dress can help with chafing and sweat patches. I also carry a special scarf in which I wet, ring out, shake out and then wrap around me. I’m menopausal so I also have not only a sweating problem but an overheating problem. I live in Sydney Australia where it can get up to 42°C (107fr) or more. I used to work in an outdoor farmers market and all of these things kept me cool. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe.
Great video! I'm in the south of France, and I'm seeing a lot of natural fabrics (I'm learning to make my peace with linen, LOL!), wide-legged pants, and the skirts and dresses have slits for venting. Lots of flatform sandals, espadrilles, and chunky lug sole sandals that are on trend, mules sandals, too- I haven't seen any flip flops. I love seeing you in those bright spring colors, BTW- the green poplin and your lipstick are on point :)
Erin, THANK YOU. I’ve been saying for years how much work it is to wear linen, but everyone loves it. 🤷♀️ I feel like a walking accordion after five minutes. My go-to are Tucker dresses in the summer - such fun prints!
I haven’t stop watching yet but you touched everything point especially sweat dripping down your shirt/ shorts and then freezing inside that was men yesterday lol
I love how your style has evolved since you moved to Europe. You're prime example of how European women are more elegant and feminine than American women. I've lived in America for 20 years now and I've not let go of my European style. Hence people asking me where I'm going when I dress myself bur I'm really not going anywhere.
I think it's unfortunate that Americans dress down the way they do. The first time I went overseas my eyes were opened to how much nicer people dress in other parts of the world. If I wear even a casual skirt with a tee here, people ask me why I'm all dressed up. It's not that I'm dressed up, everyone else is dressed down. Hopefully one day looking respectful and caring about clothing choice will catch on in the States.
Ciao Erin you always nail it.Fun and helpful. Its very humid here in the north of Italy.Feel like walking around with the air conditioning attatched to my body.Midi skirts and maxi dresses so feminine and cool.👗
I bought a beautiful white gauzy long sleeve button down in Target. .also an eyelet long sleeve button down in Old Navy.. both white and really versatile!!
I'm an H&M fan and I'm 69 years old! I just bought a long-sleeve, white linen blouse and a pair of long(er) shorts. My preferred length for shorts is a 7" inseam.
I sooo love watching your videos when i turned forty 4 yrs ago i know that my style has to change and i am always researching for what is the appropriate clothes to wear for my age then some time ago i stumbled upon your video and i was like.... i like the styles you are featuring for women in their forties that is why i subscribed to your channel because every now and then i need ideas on what to wear and how to dress up accordingly and appropriately with style and class. Thank you so much for the never ending ideas and tips you are sharing. Keep inspiring women.
Perfect, we are having the hottest days of the season yet in California 💕 cottons, linens, are a must- so flattering and effortless- this year, it’ll be all about skirts and dresses. I just don’t feel comfortable in showing much leg as I get older- I do love to show my shoulders and my arms. However, I am definitely more of a sun safe dresser too. Thank you for your invaluable tips to feeling comfortable and stylish in the hottest of weather. Xo
Sweltering 104 today in central CA, my whole closet is midi & maxi breathable fabric dresses… plus accessories. I’m loving the “yeezy” pillow slides trend this summer instead of birkenstock.
One of your best videos! :) I was so pleased to hear about hot summer fashion! I live in climate where´s very cold in the winter and very hot during the summer. This year I decided for "elevated t-shitrs" and I found it in your video :) Thank you especially for the advice of POPLIN material! THANX

@@BusbeeStyle Thanks a lot! Your new video is great and the red siut is perfect! I also L O V E your green dress in this video and have had a look at the link. I must look for some cheaper alternative :) ...Just love wide midi skirts, but it´s quite difficult to wear them as sitting in the office - the skirt messes with the chair wheels, but I keep on fighting :) :) :)
This green colour suits you perfect! And the lipstick..wow..the combination is beautiful. Thanks for all the tips!Going into winter here but I love the tips..What foundation is your go to in the summer?Your skin looks amazing in this video👌⚘
Hi beautiful Erin..all your tips make sense and are great ideas. I love dresses in the summer, especially the lighter fabrics. It is very humid and hot in our part of WV. I have always loved summer and the hot weather…even tried to get my husband to move. BUT, something changed in the last year and I can not take the heat. I have to be outside because we live on five acres and I help mow, pull weeds, garden etc so I am outside a lot. I wear cotton or linen. I don’t mind ironing . Thanks sweet Erin. You look gorgeous..love your hair, make up, and dress💕💕💕.
Sweet Erin..thank you.. u have boosted me up by teaching me comfort and style, figure flattering, confident looks..makes me happy to leave house not ashamed ! I pass your tips to my daughter. Been unexpected tough times you lightened my path. God bless and you explain reasoning why so well. bless !
I'm honored to be a small part of your journey, Catherine! So glad that these tips are helpful for you, even through tough times...Sending light and love your way! xo
Thank you Erin! Right on time again with this advice. You are always on point and so beautiful and stylish. You understand the styling needs of slightly older ladies too and I now have so much more confidence when putting looks together. I understand where I have been going wrong and am finding now that my closet just works. Hurrah! Thank you so much for all your work 💃💓
@@BusbeeStyle Try putting a full face of makeup on when you don't have air-conditioning and it's 95°F and humid. Add to that, after menopause, all perspiration comes out of your face!!!
Wow! What a great video!!! Thanks for all the information and tips! I do live in South TX and OMG, this weather is scorching hot! I am already implementing your ideas! You are Godsent! Thank you!
So sick of flip flops!! Wearing slides, such a nice change! Thank you for video, been dealing with this situation, living and working outside in Florida in the heat!!
Great video for those of us who live in the hot climates. I used to live in Fair Oaks Ranch TX back in the 90’s. I wish my feet would tolerate those cute flats but I have high arches & need support 😩. Have a wonderful summer.
Thank you, Erin for all of these tips and tricks to staying cool AND looking chic during sweltering and humid temperature conditions. I live in a climate that feels like there are only two seasons instead of four; frigid Winters and sticky hot Summers. So, many of the beautiful Spring/Autumn clothes I own, such as trenchcoats and light leather jackets and other transition pieces just don't get enough time "in the sun"... so unfortunate! As I get older, I have realized that if planned properly, I CAN wear these pieces out and really get my value back for them. I will wear a light coat or jacket or a transition dress or sweater in the mornings or evenings when the temperatures are cooler and less humid during late Spring and lighter transition waistcoats, jumpsuits, and wool coats when I know I won't be outside much during late Autumn. It really comes down to planning and putting forth a little thought in our appearances. Where I live, many people fall into the common trap of wearing less for the sake of staying cool and worshipping the sun. I personally believe that athletic wear worn in public for any other purpose than for exercising is plain lewd and thoughtless. Going tighter, shorter, and more naked does not really cool our bodies down and does not do anything to elevate our styles. Rising temperatures should not always mean rising hemlines and donning beach or athletic wear in public places. I love cottons and linens in hot temperatures and I am not a fan of ironing. I don't mind steaming my clothes, but some wrinkles in linen doesn't bother me. Cotton poplin is a wonderful choice for a cooler and non-wrinkle option and I love buying fancier dresses in that fabric for dinners and brunches. As for shoes... my take on the flip flop... they really should stay by the pool side because worn anywhere else could really "flop" your outfit, no matter the price tag. Erin, I agree with EVERYTHING you mentioned in your video and I appreciate all the hard work you took to present it to us!! Bravo!! I have been watching your videos on a daily basis and I love them!
Great tips. I use most of them. Would love to wear gauzy summer pants but the elastic waistband/drawstring is not flattering at all for me. At under 5 ft tall, elastic bands and drawstring waist make me look wider than i am and frumpy. And i wear xs or s at most. So difficult to find proper zip waistband that flatters 😢
If you can do some simple sewing, change the waistband to only have elastic in the back, and the minimum needed to clear your hips. I bought a pair that style and have since modified some other pants to be like that.
Thanks so much for watching. If you're trying to minimize the waist, sometimes drawstrings aren't the way to go...it can add bulk right there, even when there's nothing there! Hope you found some of these tips helpful. xo
Thanks Erin. I needed this video because I am about to go on vacation to a very hot spot. I am going to repack my bag and replace with the items you recommended. Thank you, thank you ❤️
The biggest learning video I have seen on Busbee Style in a long time! (As I sit here in my bodycon tank top of cheap, artificial material, sweatin' away.) Thanks.
I'm so glad you mentioned Long sleeves for the summer! I just bought a few, thank God I'm not going crazy being the only one with long sleeves for the summer. I think it can look so well put together
The dress you are wearing is a gorgeous color that I’ve never considered before! Great advice regarding fabrics and being honest with yourself about time and effort in caring for them.
Great video! We live in Florida and it’s sweltering! I’m like you, I hate to iron so linen is a no go for me. Got chubby legs so have to wear longer, almost shorts, type underwear. Not spanx, nothing tight, under dresses, skirts, and loose pants. Still keeps me cool 👍🏼
Hi, Have you found a brand of shorts you like that you mentioned that you wear under dresses? What is the material of the shorts? Are they actual shorts or do you buy them in the lingerie dept? Thank you.
Do you have a summer attire for the office video? Would love that. Also, thank you for being so sweet and non judgmental when steering us away from some styles. ❤
That little belt with a bag was so cute on the midi skirt! Where did you get that? I moved from Texas to Colorado too and the weather is soooo much nicer here in the summer. I never go a day without being thankful for the beautiful summers here! 💕Maria
It's not available right now, but here's the link to that belt: rstyle.me/+B7UrNPz_E8PsJWsWbiCo9Q Love it! You may be able to find it on resale sites though! You're right...much cooler summers here! Thanks so much for watching! xo
What I really struggle with is a bra that doesn’t make me feel extra sweaty. When it’s hot I gravitate towards activewear mainly for the swoobs. I like be wearing airy light colored tops but feel like I need more structure but have not been able to find the perfect hot weather bra. Any tips/suggestions appreciated!! 34DD
True & Co. seems to have some nice options for lightweight bras. Here's a link to check them out: go.magik.ly/ml/1idj5/ They are thinner than others, so less structure...but that may be what you're searching for! Thanks for watching. xo
I am close to your size. I bought some cotton blend bras last summer when I was stuck temporarily living in the south. I just got two more for this summer. One from Victoria's Secret and one from Le Mystere. I don't know why more brands don't make cotton blend.
Perhaps i would feel more comfortable about wearing shorts that went closer to like above the knee. As well, used some self tanner on my casper the friendly ghost legs. But yeah.. shorts or flowy dresses in Texas are a must in the summer. Thanks as always Erin for the great and very helpful tips! Linda xx
I'm glad you understand Texas heat. Fabric for sure is the biggest thing. I have a pair of gauzy pants but they have a polyester lining so they are unbearable. I didn't think about the lining when I bought them.
Most of the brands you mentioned don't make clothes for 50% of the population that's size 16 and over. The brands we have give us a choice of polyester or polyester. I've looked for 5 yrs for an oversized white linen shirt (still in stock - the other problem is large sizes sell out in hrs) without luck. TG for chinese fast fashion or we wouldn't even have a white polyester shirt. I've lost my patience with stores and brands that aren't inclusive towards 50% of women. PS have you done a video on styling hats in the heat? I'm a skin cancer survivor and need to wear hats. It's been a struggle.
Thank you SO much for watching and for your feedback here. A couple of great brands that we've seen for more inclusive sizing would be Nic + Zoe (lots of cotton, linen blends for cooler fabrics) Here's the link: go.magik.ly/ml/1ifde/ Madewell: go.magik.ly/ml/1ifdk/ and Karen Kane: go.magik.ly/ml/1ifdm/ As far as hats, here's one I've been loving: go.magik.ly/ml/1ibu9/ Hope this helps on your search! xo
This is such a good video Erin! I live in the Desert and dread Summers bc I don't love to wear linens and cottons. I have been on the lookout for Tencel fabrics when I am thrifting, but hard to come across. Something I have been doing is buying men's dress shirts in large sizes in thrift stores, but I find the ones that are wrinkle free and washable and I design clothing out of those fabrics so you can machine wash, but not have to deal with wrinkles. I love the dress you have on in this video. The color is stunning on you! I love that you said you don't want to wear a mummu! LOL! Every time I wear something shapeless, my lovely Aunt always tells me how bad it looks. But no matter what our size, we all need to have a shape and find flattering waist lines. Love the shorts and white button down look on you. Such a classic chic style for women over 40!
How funny! Your lovely Aunt sounds like she's got it figured out! On those shapeless dresses you can always try adding a thin belt though. Thanks so much for watching! xo
Thank you so much for this video! I live right outside of Dallas, and this heat is such a challenge! ❤️
I do have both of those platform styles by Crocs, though.
Right?? I was in Spain in late June/July.. ugghh!! Sidewalks were even boiling!!.. dresses for sure!!!
Love it! I've definitely switched to dresses for comfort and convenience lately too. Thanks for your comment, Sarah! xo
any suggestions if you need to wear support garment (example Spanx the material is so warm)
Yuck.
love that your not wearing faux tan like every other youtuber. You look natural and sophisticated.
Thanks for your comment, and thank you for watching! xo
i’m into linen as well
I,too, find linen very comfortable on hot days. I have some older Eileen Fisher linen knits that are so soft and cool. I don't mind linen wrinkling.
I’m 25 and still feel like all of your tips are applicable to anyone who doesn’t wan’t to show a ton of skin or just wants to dress a little more mature and elegant. Thank you so much! 💕
Good for you, Abby. Elegance is always in style.
Yes, I am turning 30 next year but already mum to two so I want to feel more grown Up, and have never been comfertable with showing so much skin, never were a small bikini since becoming a teen, Love the old fashioned swimsuits more.
Thanks so much for watching, Abby! Glad you found these tips helpful! xo
In my mid 30s glad I found this channel so helpful 🥰
Hi Erin, I just wanted to say thank you for what you do. I am 58 years old and recently really started feeling "old". I just discovered your site, subscribed and it has consumed my weekend lol, been watching nothing else for 2 days. I have picked up so many great tips. Thank you, you are appreciated!
Welcome Rose, I am SO glad you are here and enjoying my videos! Thank you so much for your comment...means more than you know! xo
Love it! Thanks for sharing, Heather...and thank you SO much for watching! xo
Love them!
Thanks for the tip, Kathy! And thank you SO much for watching. xo
Agreed! A move to Florida has caused me to buy dresses for the summer...linen, cotton, cotton poplin, seersucker. Cotton slips, too
Great video, Erin. Thank you! I love to wear dresses in the summer heat. A trick I learned recently from my daughter is to wear bike shorts under them. As sport clothing tends to be breathable, the bike shorts add an extra layer of support and comfort around the thighs without adding much heat to the outfit.
Great tip! Thanks for watching. xo
I have always wore bike short under my dresses for 10yrs 😁
That’s my go to for dresses always wear my bike shorts
This Floridian appreciates this video soooo much!!!
I'm so glad you found this one helpful! xo
First...your lipstick is 🔥
I love shorts with a long sleeve top! I lived in AZ for many years and you always see the people taking care of lawns and grounds in 115 degrees and they are COVERED UP. Long sleeves, long pants, hats, etc. It really does help to carry around your own shade!
Thank you SO much, Jennifer! SO glad you enjoyed this one. xo
Such a difference! Thanks for watching! xo
Same here. I used to iron t-shirts and jeans! Not necessary! I throw it in the dryer and hang it or fold it immediately out of the dryer.🥰
I also keep a little bottle of Downy wrinkle release - works wonders when I don’t have time for the dryer hack. 😉
I got rid of all my polyester!
I must try this trick. I hate ironing clothes and my body tolerates only cotton.
You looked gorgeous in the long sleeved blouse paired with shorts! My favorite look of all shown in this video!
I’m 25, but my husband and I are moving to Florida this summer and I needed tips for how to dress in year-round warmth. This video was so helpful to me, and even though I’m younger I resinate with so much of what you said! I definitely prefer to dress more on the modest side, and I love an elegant look. 💕
SO glad this was helpful for you, Jenna! Wishing you the best on your upcoming move! xo
Thanks for watching! xo
Try Tommy Bahama dresses. They are awesome, I have probably 25 of them and they are comfortable and cool in the summer heat.
Very true...that's not a fun lesson to learn! Thanks for your comment and thank you for watching, Tina! xo
Omg chafing in skirts!!! That is a real issue for this curvy girl, and literally dripping sweat down my legs.. gross 🤢…🤪
Use deodorant to help you prevent some of that chafing. Also, there are products for runners that are used just for this purpose.
I have had mine for a number of years and don’t remember the brand, but I am sure you can search them out online.
the green outfit and coral lip in your video is definitely your colors! Super gorgeous!
I'm SO glad to have been able to help you with this, Danica! Thanks for watching! xo
Erin, you look gorgeous in this color! Thanks for these tips! 🤍
"devils bum crack" ha ha ha
Cheers from central FL!
Cheers from Boca Raton! It’s already hot & humid down here! Spring? What is Spring? Never heard of it 🤦🏻♀️
Ha! You made me laugh with that line...SO glad you found this helpful. Thanks for watching, Mary! xo
You are so right! Erin's timing with this video is impeccable!!
Very good analysis. Also, just like a hat keeps you warmer in the winter, a light, more open weave hat can keep you cooler as it keeps the sun off your head.
You're totally right, Page! Glad you enjoyed this one. xo
Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching! So glad you're finding my tips helpful for you!! xo
Thank you SO much for your sweet comment, Amy! Truly means so much to me. Thank you for your support...xo
Thanks for sharing, Mari! And thanks so much for watching! xo
Where would you buy a.Cotton gauze slip? I have a white and a beige linen dress and I just can’t find anything to wear under it…
ma’am im not even 30 and i have skin issues, cellulite, veins and i work out 5x a week so this video applies to everyone thank you!
I am so glad you're finding my tips helpful, Lisa! Thanks for your comment! xo
Erin! I LOVE your hair, your lipstick, your dress, and your sandals in this video! Thank you, from Texas, for how to dress in the heat!!!
Yeah! I know the feeling. Living in and being from Central África...I can relate
Hope you found these tips helpful! Thanks for watching, Mercedes. xo
I know that may
people are using NUDE to be more natural panty
Hose
What About our arms & backs. Is it r tacky to were nude pantyhose with short skirts/ Jacket outfits?
Here's a whole blog we have on the best self-tanners, Kathryn! busbeestyle.com/natural-self-tanners/ Hope this helps! xo
Also, wovens are cooler than knits. A light colored, lightweight, woven, loose dress made out of natural fibers is the coolest thing you can wear.
Ooof.
Your makeup looks BEAUTIFUL!!!
Thank you for making this video! Living in a tropical climate, I’m often looking for affordable cotton choices mostly going for vintage. I’ve always been drawn to dresses, fortunately. Still glad for your suggestions!
Love it! Thanks for watching! xo
Your closet is beautiful, I much prefer this background, it’s bright, airy, and beautiful.
Thank you, Jane! This may just be my favorite spot in our new home! xo
You look stunning. 15 years younger. Your new hairstyle is just gorgeous.
You're so sweet, thank you so much, Kathy! xo
Seriously was it professionally blowdried? Looks as tho you stepped out of a salon....next video could be inspired by this hair!
I could't agree with you more about fabric!
You always look so lovely but you look absolutely stunning in this video! Love the tips! Thank you!!
I am a dress girl 💃, just realised that my wardrobe is full of them! They are great in hot summer days! One dress- you are done! No fuss!
Love it! One and done. Simple and chic! xo
Very good video! I just love every floral you buy! I find very few florals and am not really in love with stripes.
Yes! Long sleeve white linen or cotton shirts . I just bought two! Also, love breezy wide leg pants and midi skirts for summer. I want to protect my skin and stay cool at the same time.
Love it! You're set, Michele! Thanks for watching. xo
great advice on the long sleeve tops, lightweight cotton and gauze is comfortable in the heat, Target has some simple chic gauze clothing, worth checking out, prices excellent and look higher end. Thanks for the inspiration Erin, you always look great
So glad you enjoyed this one! Thanks for watching! xo
Another great option! Thanks for watching, Daisy! xo
Yes, Daisy! I lived in seersucker as a kid in south Texas. It is the absolute best for beating the heat. That, and gallons of iced tea.
I wish there were more seersucker options available.
I bought Chloe sliders because of your recommendation!
I hope you LOVE them! xo
@@BusbeeStyle I've never worn sliders before. They feel amazing! How do I keep them on my feet?? Is it a special skill? I've heard you can use extra hold hairspray. I'm doing this on my Cunard Facebook style channel this week. a live stream video to see if it works.
You look beautiful! Aging is not a death sentence! Be bold, Be different, Be You and look good doing it! Your videos are inspiring!🥰
I'm SO glad you found this one inspiring! Thanks so much for watching, Emily! xo
i love polyester and rayon and they both keep me cool
Thanks so much for watching, Edythe! xo
Love the pant suggestions! And reminder of fabric - I adore silk :-). BTW - You look extra lovely in this video!
You're so kind...Thank you, Leigh! Silk is another lovely option for the summer! xo
Thank you SO much, Carmela...you are so sweet! SO glad you enjoyed this one. xo
I wear dresses all of the time in the summer but I miss wearing a good pair of structured shorts. Loose shorts. I love yours
Erin, THANK YOU. I’ve been saying for years how much work it is to wear linen, but everyone loves it. 🤷♀️ I feel like a walking accordion after five minutes. My go-to are Tucker dresses in the summer - such fun prints!
It is a lot of work, you're right!! I'd choose cotton over linen, any day! Thanks for watching, Tracy! xo
I live in South of Spain & these tips are spot on! Love your vibe & personality ❤️
Thanks SO much for your support! SO glad you're enjoying my videos. xo
Ciao Erin you always nail it.Fun and helpful. Its very humid here in the north of Italy.Feel like walking around with the air conditioning attatched to my body.Midi skirts and maxi dresses so feminine and cool.👗

I'm an H&M fan and I'm 69 years old! I just bought a long-sleeve, white linen blouse and a pair of long(er) shorts. My preferred length for shorts is a 7" inseam.

Xo

I'm SO glad you enjoyed this video, Rita! Here's to staying cool this summer, though it will be tough! xo
Don't forget a hat!

Thank you Erin! Right on time again with this advice. You are always on point and so beautiful and stylish. You understand the styling needs of slightly older ladies too and I now have so much more confidence when putting looks together. I understand where I have been going wrong and am finding now that my closet just works. Hurrah! Thank you so much for all your work 💃💓
I'm SO glad you found this video helpful, Andrea! I'm here to help make style simple! Thanks for watching. xo
Thank you!
Thanks for watching! SO glad these tips are helpful to you, Maggie! Used to live in TX so I totally get it! xo
So sick of flip flops!! Wearing slides, such a nice change! Thank you for video, been dealing with this situation, living and working outside in Florida in the heat!!
Love it! So glad you found this video helpful. xo
Great video for those of us who live in the hot climates. I used to live in Fair Oaks Ranch TX back in the 90’s. I wish my feet would tolerate those cute flats but I have high arches & need support 😩. Have a wonderful summer.
Loved this! Please do a tour of your new design studio. It’s so beautiful. ❤️
Thanks so much for watching, Susan! SO glad you are enjoying my videos!! Truly appreciate YOU! xo
Great tips Erin to beat the heat and stay cool.
So glad you enjoyed this one! xo
Busbee.. you have an amazing voice.. very easy to listen to..
Thanks so much, Trudi! xo
Great suggestion, Maria! xo
Thanks so much for watching. If you're trying to minimize the waist, sometimes drawstrings aren't the way to go...it can add bulk right there, even when there's nothing there! Hope you found some of these tips helpful. xo
belt of same or different color
Always helpful with the what to wears! Your makeup is gorgeous today! Fresh and light
Thank you SO much, Lori! Glad this was helpful for you! xo
Thanks Erin. I needed this video because I am about to go on vacation to a very hot spot. I am going to repack my bag and replace with the items you recommended. Thank you, thank you ❤️
SO glad I could help out with your packing. Have the BEST trip, Sandra! xo
The biggest learning video I have seen on Busbee Style in a long time! (As I sit here in my bodycon tank top of cheap, artificial material, sweatin' away.) Thanks.
I'm so glad you found this one helpful, Carol! xo
I'm so glad you mentioned Long sleeves for the summer! I just bought a few, thank God I'm not going crazy being the only one with long sleeves for the summer. I think it can look so well put together
Love it, Vivian! Thanks for watching! xo
I wear skorts.
The dress you are wearing is a gorgeous color that I’ve never considered before! Great advice regarding fabrics and being honest with yourself about time and effort in caring for them.
So glad you enjoyed this one! Thanks for watching! xo
Thanks for your comment, and thanks for watching! xo
Hi,
Have you found a brand of shorts you like that you mentioned that you wear under dresses? What is the material of the shorts?
Are they actual shorts or do you buy them in the lingerie dept?
Thank you.
I bought some men's boxer shorts for my undies. All cotton and very comfortable.
Me too. Like a split slip.
Your skin looks amazing! That color lip and shirt are really working for you. Thanks for the hot tips!
Thanks so much for your kind words, Heidi! SO glad you enjoyed this one! xo
Such a perfect helpful video! I really enjoyed your take on different fabrics and clothing items! Thank you 🤗😀🥰
SO glad you found this one helpful. Thanks for your comment, Gail! xo
Do you have a summer attire for the office video? Would love that. Also, thank you for being so sweet and non judgmental when steering us away from some styles. ❤
Here's a video I did on that topic about a year ago! th-cam.com/video/dtqRKcMb21I/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps! xo
Thanks so much for watching! xo
GREAT IDEAS AS ALWAYS !!!!!
MANY THANKS, AND SENDING ❤!!!!!
Here's a link to check them out: go.magik.ly/ml/1idj5/
They are thinner than others, so less structure...but that may be what you're searching for! Thanks for watching. xo
I am close to your size. I bought some cotton blend bras last summer when I was stuck temporarily living in the south. I just got two more for this summer. One from Victoria's Secret and one from Le Mystere. I don't know why more brands don't make cotton blend.
@@LittleE461 oh good to know, thank you!
This is exactly the video I needed to see! I live in Texas (about 30 minutes west of Boerne!!) and this gave me so many great ideas! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks SO much for watching, Jennifer! xo
Linda xx
Good news for you: bermudas are back in fashion! They should be easier to find :)
I'm glad you understand Texas heat. Fabric for sure is the biggest thing. I have a pair of gauzy pants but they have a polyester lining so they are unbearable. I didn't think about the lining when I bought them.
Fabric can make ALL the difference! Thanks for watching...now it's time to search for cooler gauzy pants! xo
A couple of great brands that we've seen for more inclusive sizing would be Nic + Zoe (lots of cotton, linen blends for cooler fabrics) Here's the link: go.magik.ly/ml/1ifde/
Madewell: go.magik.ly/ml/1ifdk/
and Karen Kane: go.magik.ly/ml/1ifdm/
As far as hats, here's one I've been loving: go.magik.ly/ml/1ibu9/
Hope this helps on your search! xo
Try H&M. They have all sizes and carry linen shirts! Good luck!
omg Boerne!! I live in Fair Oaks! I'm glad I have found a fellow Texan on YT! 🤩
Hey there! I'm so glad you're here! Hope you enjoyed this one!
Thanks so much for watching! xo
