I kept thinking SOMEONE would come out with a frame and 12rd metal magazine that uses a Glock 42 slide...but it never happened. THIS is the gun I wanted (but I like the sub-micro "mouse" guns, and trying to get sub-3s Bill Drills from concealment with them).
Saw this one at the gun shop today and compared it to my P365X and i was like, wow i thought my P365 was micro sized, this Bodyguard looks like a TOY compared to mine. I swear you could put this on a keychain and say it was fake and people would believe you

As a fan of .380 pocket carry in general, this is the most exciting looking pocket .380 option I've seen in a long time. I like my G42 but this seems to have more capacity in just about the same footprint, and I'd be able to get my pinky on it. I'll definitely be looking to try one of these out.
I went by my local tool store today, I knew they had one of these that wasn't for sale, I just wanted to hold it. Well, I ordered one.🤷♂ It reminded me of the S&W Equalizer, only miniaturized.🤣 I have held and been on the fence about the LCP MAX for a year now, it just never felt right in my hand. That Bodyguard 2.0 with the extended magazine, just perfectly melts into my palm. And I can dang near put my trigger finger in front of the muzzle with a full grip, that thing is tiny to feel so comfortable. I can not wait to get it here.👊 Excellent review as always man.👍
That undercut and beaver tail make the pistol. It’s makes a 380 not just more comfortable, but also really good looking. It all looks like it’s to proper scale. From what I’ve seen, a sub 4lb trigger in a pocket carry is kinda nuts.
The Bodyguard 2.0 has the additional advantage over the Ruger of having the option of a manual safety! Might be completely irrelevant for the "tactical ninjas" and others, but matters a lot to a lot of shooters! Good job, S&W! ❤

While I would never want a manual safety, I know a lot of people (especially first time gun owners) feel the need to have it. HOWEVER, S&W needed to make it larger if they wanted people to be able to actuate it easily and quickly in a shooting situation. Maybe the aftermarket will make a better one.
I traded mine, was at 10 year anniversary at my range and SW was there, my wallets RIP. Just something about having a small carry you don't even know its there with reliability to back it up. I hate the bodyguard, it was honestly the most hideous pocket pistol, SW turning it around!
The looks are SUPER deceiving. They used the space so much more efficiently than Ruger. The LCP just looks like it has so much dead space above the grip in comparison

Civil defense 50gr the light version would be even better. 255 energy. Though underwood 68gr +p is insane, 296 energy. I like channel on civil better, way more explosive.

As a lefty myself, it's easy to adapt and overcome. Using your index finger to slide release is easy and still quick. Sure it's nice to have ambidextrous, but not necessary. Now on the revolver side, the Charter Arms Southpaw is awesome. Using a revolver left handed was terrible until now.
This Gun is by far, the Best feeling Gun in Hand that I have ever owned! It shoots Accurate, right out of the box, with minimum recoil! My 80 year old hands have trouble racking the slide and loading the mags but I purchased a "UpLULA" auto loader which works great and I can load both 10 & 12 rounds to the max! This is Now My EDC in a pocket holster for my self defense needs!
Glock is like Honda or Toyota. They never really update or innovate because they know people are still going to keep buying the same car over and over.
AK, AR, revolvers, 1911s haven’t changed much either in their decades of history, yet people don’t complain about those all the time. In saying that…They really should step up their game. The 2.0 is smaller in all dimensions and a lot lighter, plus way more capacity. And your pinky isn’t hanging off like it does with the G42. So yeah I just completely contradicted myself lol
Issues with mine thus far. 12 round doesn't drop free. Also Racking 12 round into chamber, it doesn't feed into chamber. Gets stuck. Lock slide back. Pull out magazine. Bullet flies out of ejection port across the room. Racking into chamber manually doesn't work with 12 round mag. Have to rack fast and hard with 10 round to avoid this problem. Also dry firing, sometimes trigger pull hits sticky point. Going to copy paste this in other 2.0 videos
Great honest review! I'm not a 380 fan but own 2 (taurus tcp and sig p238) for when deep concealment is necessary...but hardly carry as I don't trust the taurus as it's had reliability issues and the sig can be uncomfortable due to the hammer. I was really considering the lcp max but I'm so glad I waited to find smith apparently knocking it out the park with this!...especially due to the trigger and recoil I've seen in other reviews. Side note, it's funny you mentioned your job as I was wondering what was going on w your hands.
Mine comes on Wednesday and I can't wait. I've been carrying a 1-15oz Walther PPS/M2 which is a great pistol in 9mm but this guy is 70 and it's getting heavier every year. Now if I can just find a holster that doesn't suck. 😊
i'm assuming the "standard" ribbon shaped recoil spring and secondary wire spring in the 2.0 will make recoil more manageable than the single wire spring in the 1.0 and LCP Max
Im switching to Smith and Wesson. I just picked up my Shield plus. I have a LCP with a trigger laser that I pocket carry. I’ll be trading that in for the Bodyguard 2.0. I’m still keeping my Glock 26 gen 5. Thanks for the video.
You found it gentlemen and ladies. This is the gun that you need. It will fit big hands like nine or a little hands like the wife or lady. The only real problem is you’re going to need to because she’s gonna love it. Super light excellent capacity Really fine trigger mechanism and sites that won’t disappoint you. Even a big guy curling his finger under the short magazine will love that feel
I’d like to see one in person but that looks too big for a pocket pistol. It’s a three finger grip. The original LCP which actually is pocket sized is more of a 1 1/2 finger grip 2 if you have the little extension.

I've been hoping for years that S&W would develop an updated Bodyguard. I wouldn't have guessed they'd design - what is essentially - a Mini Shield, but it makes sense. One could - theoretically, still carry the 1.0 as a backup with the 2.0 as a primary weapon. Otherwise, this 2.0 Bodyguard could fill each of those roles on its own. Very well done, S&W. It's looking like this will fill the niche that the LCP Max filled for me. In the summer I will - from time to time - carry an LCP II or a Bodyguard with a clipdraw in running shorts/drawstring shorts. That only works with a manual safety or some other additional trigger guard. Hopefully, someone makes a low profile trigger guard holster for the 2.0. I hate things in my pockets, though I'm sure most will carry the 2.0 in a pocket.
Figures ... I just ordered a Kahr CT380 because I didn't like the LCP Max in my hand. Now I'm gonna have to get this too, as it's better in just about every way.
I wanted to get a Glock 42 380 but i changed my mind. I going to purchase the new bodyguard 2.0 instead. It has more round capacity and it’s small and can cancel easily compared to other firearms.
I like the looks of the lcp max more although it’s seems like the less capable gun, but with the popularity these will have I can see them coming out with better looking versions. Or even the aftermarket market support it.
I have the original bodyguard also and I agree 100% that it isn't great. The new one is a have to have for me. Mini Shield is genius. Hope the slide isn't as hard to rack as the last one.
First of all let me thank you for your content very informative, THANK YOU VERY MUCH... the bodyguard 2.0 looks to be a great choice for pocket carry. 2nd thing I have nothing against Glock great manufacturers with the exception of no innovation at all. Not saying they don't build a great dependable gun they do but at the price point they are way over priced,they all should be a $400 price range. Why should I pay $600 for something I can get grea quality for around $400 for a CZ P IE: BEST STOCK TRIGGER in the business.
Really need Vedder to update their Pocket Locker for the Bodyguard 2.0. I messaged them last week and was not very encouraged by the response. There are no kydex pocket options on the market as of right now. I wonder how long it will take.

I'm falling in love with all of the full grip micro compacts.
I have an LCP max, I thought this was substantially bigger than that. This is a lot more compelling seeing how it’s basically the same size.

They are 1/4 inch smaller than a p365.... You are trading 9mm for .380 for .25 of an inch....
True, but that quarter of an inch = making it disappear inside of a pocket, which is difficult to do even with the OG P365.

Yep… that’s why I went with the Mako, which is hardly “micro” more like subcompact. I wish they’d just remove the slide release altogether on micros.

As a secondary comment Smith and Wesson is the most complete manual I’ve ever seen with the photo drawings and explanations of everything. 47 pages
S&W has really been improving their game over these past years. They keep coming out with good quality stuff. Still love my M&P 2.0 till this day.

I've been hoping for years that S&W would develop an updated Bodyguard. I wouldn't have guessed they'd design - what is essentially - a Mini Shield, but it makes sense. One could - theoretically, still carry the 1.0 as a backup with the 2.0 as a primary weapon. Otherwise, this 2.0 Bodyguard could fill each of those roles on its own. Very well done, S&W. It's looking like this will fill the niche that the LCP Max filled for me. In the summer I will - from time to time - carry an LCP II or a Bodyguard with a clipdraw in running shorts/drawstring shorts. That only works with a manual safety or some other additional trigger guard. Hopefully, someone makes a low profile trigger guard holster for the 2.0. I hate things in my pockets, though I'm sure most will carry the 2.0 in a pocket.

Figures ... I just ordered a Kahr CT380 because I didn't like the LCP Max in my hand. Now I'm gonna have to get this too, as it's better in just about every way.

I wanted to get a Glock 42 380 but i changed my mind. I going to purchase the new bodyguard 2.0 instead. It has more round capacity and it’s small and can cancel easily compared to other firearms.
For me... optics on this pistol doesn't make sense.

I like the looks of the lcp max more although it’s seems like the less capable gun, but with the popularity these will have I can see them coming out with better looking versions. Or even the aftermarket market support it.

I'm glad it is really similar to the Shield. The original Bodyguard was the Shield's ugly little sister.
I have the original bodyguard also and I agree 100% that it isn't great. The new one is a have to have for me. Mini Shield is genius. Hope the slide isn't as hard to rack as the last one.
Local gun store gets a couple of these Bodyguards in tomorrow or Friday, and one already has the 4473 form filled out by me to buy it.

First of all let me thank you for your content very informative, THANK YOU VERY MUCH... the bodyguard 2.0 looks to be a great choice for pocket carry. 2nd thing I have nothing against Glock great manufacturers with the exception of no innovation at all. Not saying they don't build a great dependable gun they do but at the price point they are way over priced,they all should be a $400 price range. Why should I pay $600 for something I can get grea quality for around $400 for a CZ P IE: BEST STOCK TRIGGER in the business.

Really need Vedder to update their Pocket Locker for the Bodyguard 2.0. I messaged them last week and was not very encouraged by the response. There are no kydex pocket options on the market as of right now. I wonder how long it will take.

Well, i dont switch out carry guns and stick with what i have being Shield 40 performance center and Shield 45 2.0 version. I believe i might actually splurge for this as it falls into my Shield type of carry.
