- March 3, 2024 marked the Nintendo Switch's 7th anniversary! So to celebrate everyone's favorite video game hybrid console turning 7, I decided to rank my top 10 Nintendo Switch games.
These are just my opinions, and I would LOVE to hear what your top games are down in the comments!

i too have botw and totk at my 2 and 1. seriously two of the best games i’ve ever played in my entire life
I also agree 💯% & now that I'm finished with them both & it looks like no dlc coming for totk I'm looking for alternative games to play 🤷🏻♂️

Skyward Sword! I had no problem with the motion controls on the Wii, but the HD version just made things even better. Even I can't deny the interruptions got a bit annoying and the text scroll was unbearably slow, so I'm glad the HD version fixed those.

Question for you; what did you think of Sonic Superstars? I got it and SMB Wonder on the same day as both games released, and I think Sonic Superstars is highly underrated and under appreciated. Just curious to know your take on the game, if you played it.

I actually haven't played that! Haven't really played much of any Sonic game, except Sonic 1. Maybe I'll add it to my "to play" list

Add pikmin 4 and animal crossing to the list for me. I remember playing ipikmin 4 all day during my days off from work all july 2023. Finished it august of 2023, ended up loving it.

Not surprised. I had only a handful of games with my switch, but I played a ton! I was offered the switch with BotW when I was in the hospital... Mainly Mario Odyssee, Mario all stars, and my best game, BotW! Now, I'm waiting for the next gen nintendo to enjoy TotK on it. Can't wait!
I'd say its worth getting Tears of the Kingdom before the next gen comes out! Especially since there's no guarantee that it will be backwards compatible

I wish I liked BotW or TotK as much as everyone else but I just don't. I really don't get all the hype.

I get that its not for everyone. I feel the same way about Pokemon and Animal Crossing! I know people love them, but I just don't get it.
My favorite switch game or at least within my top 3 is Metroid Dread.
Dread was really close to making my list!
Botw was also the reason i got a switch
Crazy that Metroid Dread isn't on this list... and Mario Wonder should definitely be in the top 5. If you got those Yoshi and Kirby games above Mario Wonder then they have the be some of the best games ever, cuz that's how good Mario Wonder is. Only downside to Mario Wonder is that it's so short. I beat it really fast and I'm not an expert gamer.
I just started Mario Wonder, and it feels a bit too much like a Kirby game. Flashy but with easy linear levels. Mario 3 and Mario World are my favorites.
My personal top 10 would be
1. The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - never thought I would ever put a Zelda game as my #1. But it truly is a masterpiece. With so much more things to do then Breath of the Wild
2. Super Smash Bros Ultimate - I’ve been wanting this game for so long. I started playing Smash Bros with Brawl. And I always wanted a Smash Bros game that brings back every single character. I mean Ridley, K Rool, Banjo, Sora. Can’t believe the amount of content in this game.
3. Super Mario Odyssey - I’m a huge Mario fan. It’s my favorite franchise. That first Mario Odyssey play through is something I’ll never forget. The movement and controls are the best in the entire series. The jumps you can make. It’s not my favorite Mario game. I like Galaxy 1&2 slightly more but I still love Odyssey so much.
4. Super Mario Bros Wonder - I never thought I would love a new 2d Mario game as much as I did. I grew up with the New Super Mario games, and have heavy nostalgia for those games but Wonder blows those games away. The creativity of the levels, and the wonder mechanic are just unbelievable. And the visuals are incredible.
5. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild - it took me awhile to truly understand how good this game is. When I first got it I couldn’t really get very far in the game. But when I went back to the game a few years later and beat it. I understand now that the game is incredible. So much to see and do in Hyrule.
6. Metroid Dread - this game is amazing. It has by far my favorite boss battles in any game. And it is an incredibly hard but very rewarding game. Samus is so much fun to explore and the world is beautiful.
7. Pikmin 4 - I just beat this game and it is fantastic. I wish I got into the Pikmin franchise sooner. Exploring the world with Oatchi and the Pikmin. What an amazing experience.
8. Animal Crossing New Horizons - A very relaxing game, building your own little island. And decorating it, listening to the relaxing music. It’s a game that I can come back to every day.
9. Splatoon 3 - what a unique idea, when Splatoon was the big new IP on the Wii U. I didn’t really understand it and thought the idea was dumb. However when I got Splatoon 2 on the Switch. I realized that the game is incredibly fun. And Splatoon 3 is even better. The new weapons, and maps. Salmon Run being very fun as well. Very solid game.
10. Kirby and the Forgotten Land - I can’t believe it took Kirby so long to make the jump to 3d. But it was done so well, it’s like Kirby was always in 3d. I love the upgrade system. Such a great idea. And the level design is also amazing.
Honorable Mentions - Luigi’s Mansion 3, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (not on the list because it’s just a Wii U port. But there is so much added content. It would be #2 if it was a new game on the Switch.) and Super Mario Maker 2.

I can see how much you like Zelda games, but I just have one little advice for you: give a chance to the Xenoblade Chronicles games on Nintendo Switch! Play them in order 🎉
Xenoblade has been on my list for a while now, I just haven’t got around to it yet.
Xenoblade chronicles 1 is probably one of my favorite switch games, if not my favorite.

My top 10 games (In no particular order):
Totk (duh)
Botw ( Have combined 700 hours in both 😅)
Mario odyssey (Brings me back to the N64 days of pure 3d platforming fun)
Metroid Dread (Loved the atmosphere and bosses were TOUGH.. or maybe I’m just bad)
Mario Maker 2 ( Not to flex, but one of my levels has 4000 downloads and 400 likes 💪💪)
Pikmin 4 (pikmin🙂)
Pokémon Legends Arceus (Shiny hunting is very rewarding, I got my boy Yanma as a shiny)
Smash Ultimate (Piranha Plant main, got to elite smash)
Mario 3d world (Shockingly great, still sad I didn’t ever get a Wii U)
Links Awakening (SO CUTE 😍)
God it’s so hard to narrow down to 10, Imma add 5 more.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 (It’s SOOO good but I just wanted more of it)
Mario Kart 8 deluxe (My younger cousins love this one)
Kirby Star Allies (Fun fact, first
game I ever 100%ed)
Mario Party Superstars and Super Mario Party (2 games but same enough for me to count as one)
Cuphead (I play tons of indies on my PC but this is the only one I’ve played on switch)
And reasoning for some games I played but didn’t make the list:
Pokémon Violet (Main story went on too long and shiny hunting was downgraded from PLA)
Mario Wonder (I haven’t fully finished yet, loved what I played though 😅)
Kirby Forgotten Land (Same as before, my backlog is massive)
Mario RPG (Same as before…)
Metroid Prime Remastered (And before…)
Yoshi’s Crafted World (Ok, I did fully play this. Loved the aesthetic but gameplay was a bit too easy for my liking)
Mario U (Less creative and worse looking than wonder)

Very long list! I personally have never actually played any Pokemon or Pikmin, so I don't really have an opinion on them. I actually forgot Kirby Star Allies existed, and I never got around to playing it. I might have to get that soon. Also, Metroid Dread was pretty close to making my list, but I thought it was just so hard! I still haven't beat the final boss!!!

Admittedly is has been a while since I did a full playthrough of Mario odyssey. Maybe if I’d played it more recently my opinion would’ve been different and it might have been ranked a little higher

Pretty solid list! Metroid Dread was close to being in my top 10, but it was just too hard. I still haven’t beat the final boss!

I liked Super Mario GALAXY better than Odyssey. I liked Odyssey too but playing Galaxy included in 3D All Stars was much more fun and I liked level designs was the definitive 3D Mario Experience for me. I also think Odyssey's hat mechanic is lazy, SMG transformations is a better idea for me:)
I get that, Galaxy is great! However, I don't like the Switch version, as my joycons never stay centered on screen so it makes pointing really difficult and annoying compared to the Wii
@@TheCasualGamingGeek I played on Switch for HD. U're perhaps right. Swimming/racing with the shark was painful. Still I am glad I played it, HD and visuals were great!
I find the Galaxy series incredibly boring. They play a lot more like 3D world than they do all of the other 3D mario games because of how linear they are, and I really didn't like 3D world or galaxy 1 and 2. I prefer traditional mario games like Wonder and SMW2 when it comes to linear Mario. Odyssey, however, was amazing! It's almost as good as 64 and Sunshine imo.
@@zacharycoulson3482 u got a point there. I still dont like odyssey, maybe the similiarity of linearness between smg and 2d mario platformers make me like it

Yeah a lot of what I play is Mario or Zelda. Not everything, but a lot. Do you have any recommendations?
I love most of the games in your list, however, there are others outside of the Zelda/Mario games that are way better. Try exploring other games and it might surprise you.
I opened my options to the Fire Emblem and Persona games for the past couple of years and I regretted not playing them before. There are also a ton of wonderful indie games like Hollow knight and Cult of the Lamb.
Hollow Knight is on my to play list! I have played other games like Tunic (the switch version) and I really enjoyed Octopath Traveler. But yeah I realize I should expand my horizons.
