As an adult( albeit a young adult), she understood what the role was when she agreed to take the part and when she read the script. She understood that her looks were factoring into her success as an actor and I don't think that there's anything wrong with using what you've got. I compare it to being like how Chris Hemsworth said once in an interview that he understands that his looks have played a role in his career with a success as an actor but that he hopes that they're not the only reason and you can say the same thing about Brad Pitt, too. He knew that his looks played a part in his success as an actor but he's also a great actor and he went out of his way to prove himself, just as Jennifer Connelly did. There has to be some personal responsibility and accountability. The blame can't just go to the filmmakers, she also made the decision to act in the film.

She didn't have to take the part but she still did( just like she still took the part in The Hot Spot). Why was that?
Can we get a long version where you go over Dark City and Rocketeer? I need more details about Labyrinth. You are such a sublimely compelling actress.
My ultimate star crush, an absolute talent and gorgeous in anything and everything
The first movie with her I have watched was "The Rocketeer (1991)". Since then it is one of my fav. movies.
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned dark water.
Jennifer has been in so many great movies. 3 that I enjoy that you didn't mention are The Rocketeer, Dark City and Dark Water. I especially love the depressing vibe of Dark Water. It really draws you in.
I love her in Dark City. The most beautiful woman to ever Grace the screen
