I’m genuinely surprised you didn’t mention kudus key impact in the first goal. He fell deeper and drifted to the middle, picked up the ball and with a first touch took it beyond two defenders and then passed it on. That key possession is what initiated the first goal and I hope the coach realizes how much he stifles kudus by playing him on LW

If loppy had longer to work with the team we would have looked better. Ideas take a bit of time to take hold for me

Atmosphere was electric. The football was actually enjoyable all the way through. Very disappointed the amount of people left after 83 minutes when the 3rd goal went in. That must have transfered to the pitch at a moment when we need to dig in. We created 2 class moments that could have won us the game.
Once Kudus is played on the right or as a number 10 the results and better performances will come

That was a great performance considering the scoreline. How Wan Bissaka is not playing for a team in the Champions League is beyond me, he's different Gravy. I am ready to see Paqueta warm the bench. Feel like although good in possession, he's inconsistent and we spend all our time waiting for him to do what he's meant to be good at, by that time he's given the ball away. Put Kudus in the 10, give Summerville a run on the left
Wan Bissaka was our best player by a mile today, the only one with any real urgency to get forward. Paqueta can do one 🤣
AWB was excellent and arguably our best player. We have just got to try and cut out mistakes as costing us. Man City are a top top team
I was at the game and AWB’s defence was woeful. On the ball, he is insane…. But city targeted his flank and run rings around him
Paqueta has been a liability for too long. I’m thinking Summerville on the left and kudus in the middle, with paqueta on the bench. Tha5 could be our strongest attack.

Would dearly love to see all the signings play together across the front I’d like to see Summerville on the left with Bowen out on the right and Kudus through the middle I think he could be far more affective there switching left then right with his pace he’s strong also and maybe fullkrug can feed off blocked shots or assist with deflections if needed

Absolutely agree. I saw a far better performance with lots of positives. If we continue to progress like this and are consistent in performance I can see a good season ahead.
Gotta get kudus back on that right, even if it means leaving bowen upfront again. We need to maximise our best player.

Kudus best ever stats came at false 9 role at Ajax and playing inside the half space at right wing forward at ajax so why change him when he can be among the best in the world . Bowen is amazing but kudus if he works more on his finishing can be worldclass

AWB, Kilman, Kudus & Rodriguez, the pick of the crop. Paqueta poor again. Are the charges hanging over him taking their toll over recent performances? Antonio and Füllkrug, no service to do anything which has been a worry so far this season in every game. Progress and on to the next game

Kudus cannot be on the left wing anymore! He's wasted there, he tries often to shoot with his left, tries to get past opponents and cut inside but can't do it with the left foot.

Nothing wrong with Kudus’ performances so far this season. It’s CF that’s the problem area. Antonio and Fullkrug are nowhere near the quality of the strikers the sides who finished top 8 last season have.
I know some people aren't keen but I'd have Bowen up top, Kudus on the right, Summerville on the left and Paqueta in the middle. Bowen is the best finisher in the team by a mile.

Really enjoyed that, proud of the boys with that performance. Obviously couple times we have the ball away cheaply and were punished but we could have got Man City a couple of times two, some great chances. Haaland is excellent, City were excellent but we matched them at 2-1 down. Some great signs!

That's also not bad. But I'd say false 9 cos he's not a target 9. That way, he can look like an extra midfielder but also pop up in goal scoring areas

I stayed awake for the whole match so it’s a thumbs up for entertainment.
Look back at video at how many times a WH player could've made a pass quickly with his "other" foot to speed up attacks. Bowen made the cross with his right which got the goal and Kudus made an excellent cross field pass with his right peg. The first time passing of Man C was so different to speed of attack. We need to improve this area for some players. Use both feet!!!
Go and tell messi to use both feet, go and tell salah to use both feet. Shooting to score demands an amount of shot power and the weak foot can't do tat for them switching the ball you just have to it it as hard as you can but you can't hit as hard as you can when scoring
Hi Gonzo. Pleased with the overall performance. Lopetegui will get it right. Paqueta needs to be benched, he gives the ball AWAY FAR TOO OFTEN. The Moyes players still need to adapt to the Lopetegui way
I think we need to play Bowen at 9, Mo right, Summerville left. Especially against sides where we will not dominate possession. In games where we will have the ball more than the opposition, I think we can play Füllkrug. Mic didn't do anything wrong but he's lost too many steps and too much horsepower to be useful. Neither Mic nor Niclas are useful if we're chasing the game. I liked the midfield trio when JLo moved Paq forward and Alvarez back. I think we're on to something here. There was much to be positive about from this game. And to Arsenal, you'd better get your thumb out. This City side look good.
Paqueta shouldn't start every game is what I learnt. We don't have an out and out striker, AWB looks excellent.

I was at the game today. It was a much better performance, especially in the second half, much less of the old Loyes style. Great runs from Kudus, and Kilman played well too, but my man of the match was Wam-Bissaka.
kudus is a sensational player. AWB is da steal of the season. worth 40 million
Kudus has to go in the centre- he is the most likely to score and make goals and may make it easier for the centre forward to get involved. .Summerville left wing.. Soler will improve the midfield = I think if Soler plays as he is capable of - we need to bench Paqueta and rotate Alvarez and Rodriguez. Todibo has to come in when he is fully fit as much as Mavropanos is la great option off the bench if required, he seems to have one MAJOR blunder in him waiting to happen in each appearance he makes..And please keep Soucek away from the pitch unless all the midfielders are sick or desperate and chuck him on as centre forward!
watched the match again this morning. great game. really enjoyed it. i proud of the lads. Although we had little of the ball we did so well especially after LOP shuffled the pack.

Honestly I needed that video Gonzo, it helped me not feel so deflated about it. Feels like every one of their players is world class and ours just... aren't. I know that's not the case, but they made it FEEL like it. Oh, and yea they're def guilty I just decided.
Thought we had a fair number of good patterns of play that, if we weren’t playing probably the best team in the world, we’d have gotten a lot more from. Imo, that performance will beat most teams in the prem. Good to see the progression into some better football

Today is the first time in a long, long time.where I have sat through a defeat but came away satisfied with the performance.
Paqueta was poor, but there were several great performances today
Thought we got off to a good start tbh. We were trying to pressure their defence instead of sitting back which is a positive but City are too good going forward.

As pretty much all the comments have said, it was a decent performance and we were in it. Very positive signs. I'm worried about Paqueta - really off his game. He was trying too hard to impress Pep and probably did the opposite. The first goal was down to him - yes the Emerson pass could have been better but Paq played the ball to Emerson and called for the return, he was beaten by Silva who was hungrier and more aggressive. Paq also gave away the ball too many times in attacking positions. There was so much good on display, and Paqueta, expected to be so influential, let us down. Soler may be the answer and help bring the best out of Paqueta in terms of competing for the spot on the team.
He needs to start playing poorly on the left wing but he’s just too much of a professional to do that. We all know how lethal he is on the right let alone the middle

Kudus is an attacking midfielder

Most enjoyable game so far gonzo, I thought we looked far far better than last week. As you say we were in the game right up to the last few minutes and we looked dangerous, I wonder if we will rue the day we didn’t push the boat out for Duran as I have a fear that fulkrug could possibly join the list of failed strikers
Our only problem is GOALS, Antonio is cooked has no legs and offers nothing and the new striker is basically a lamppost if we don’t give him the proper service
I’ve realised watching the games we seem to play a lot of long balls and focus less on possession when soucek plays when we have the double pivot of alverez and Rodriguez we seem to play tidy possession football but of course we’re playing city so we won’t have the ball but a lot of positives to take from it we will see the nice possession tidy football as long as soucek is off the pitch

I like you mentioned Rodriguez he has just walked into the team. What player it's like he already bleeds claret and blue. I got a good feeling for this season we can be top 6. Also paqueta not on it now we can play Soler. Happy times ahead I'm sure of that
I hope Soler can displace Paqueta. He makes too many mistakes and has become a liability. We need to get Fulkrug playing to his strengths. I think we have a chance to get a decent run going.
It’s the individual errors that keep killings us, all three MC goals as a result of mistakes, it’s happened in all the games so far, a hangover from last season.
Let us not get too excited. 7 points from first three games under Moyes last season with a great win over Chelsea. 3 from Lopi after three games.
We played well against a very very good side. One of the best in the world.
If we build and maintain what we saw in the first 4 minutes we will compete for 5th or 6th place. Only problem with that style of play is Antonio will NEVER be able to hold that pace of football. He would be on an oxygen tank by 20 minute mark. But I seen some exciting stuff yesterday. We could be in for a fun ride this year.
That performance alone justifies us fans wanting Moyes out, suck it Shearer, Brazil, Merson and Co 🖕
Coming to the conclusion Paquata is becoming our Dele Ali, a luxury that delivers very little.

We may have lost, but I enjoyed it. We didn't park the bus, and we looked dangerous throughout.
But,world-class sides will punish you. We had our big chances and never took them. They took all of theirs. However, it's still a massive upgrade from watching us sitting back against everybody.
I'm excited to see what Lopetegui can produce with more time to implement the new style.
gonzo, why do u feel that most of our shots comes from out wide. its not the number 9s fault that they dont get opportunities. its been a problem for many a year. HOW MUCH of the ball did we have. Antonio did well.

It’s very infuriating that we play our best player in the one forward position he can’t play. Soucek gets a run in CAM. The guy can’t hold the ball or pass.
We now have the best English centre back in the Premier League, and the England setup seems oblivious to his existence.

I wouldn't criticize Areola for that 2nd goal. Might raise an eyebrow at Emerson, but at the end of the day it was Haaland. He was scoring that regardless.

@@Calamitious Soucek is at his best as his best as a shadow striker as he is good at ghosting into forward postions where he is a threat. Outside of that he is useless. He is a poor mans Brian Robson but can be deadly. Though the late 70's and 80s football players use to drink a lot after the game and now is much more professional today.
