  • Hello my fellow traumatized children, welcome back to another round of analyzing the Muppet Show if it was nightmare fuel. If you’re watching this before you’ve seen the actual show, don’t. This episode is all about the importance of family, and how through the power of friendship we can overcome all things. My favorite part of this episode was when Roy went, “It’s Roy time” then Royed all over the place.
Don't Hug Me I'm Scared returned in beautifully horrific fashion. I'm just a random guy rambling about it. Thanks for watching, I hope even if you don't agree with a word I say that you're still mildly entertained. Let's march together into the willing embrace of impending eternity by discussing an adult puppet show:)
Huge thanks to ‪@ComicKirk‬ for gifting his voice to this production. See if you can find all his cameos.

I'm unsure if this was mentioned, but the reason why roy shows up is because Yellow guy dialed him up. When the family is screaming at him to make the call, yellow guy dials numbers, screams for help, then dials again and then asks for the food. Just wanted to throw that out there lol

Roy, I believe represents Yellow guys savagery. The true essence of primal. Everyone human being are animals, and you be delusional to think were not. We're just hiding it under our mask to fit into society. That's why we only see Roy once in awhile. When Yellow guy was threatened and new he was going to die. He had to call his primal to preserve himself. In that moment you have no idea what you did because it's not you.

I think the lack of bunk beds really drives in that theme that quite a few episodes share that the teachers are hypocrites.
The notebook is fine using the color green until it is Yellows favorite color
The butterfly and the cult are fine loving things other than their "special one," but once Yellow tries, he is doing love wrong
The Twin talk about bunk beds like it is the most important thing in a family, yet they don't own one
Warren says the main three need to be better friends yet is a horrible friend himself (I wouldn't be surprised if he caused his friends to leave him)
The boundary teacher from episode 6 of the tv show talks about boundaries yet touches Yellow guy constantly
Literally all but one of these directly harmed Yellow btw

Reminds me of how a toxic family members (e.g narcisstic parents) tries to keep the normal one around doesn't want to let them go and tries to make that person stay with them at all cost just to exploit the poor soul. They often manipulate the individual with the "proper family" propaganda to exploit them.

While I do really like your interpretation on Roy, I think he's a distant father who cares about his son but doesn't care in your traditional loving family way. He can't express love but he's there for yellow guy, even in a pushy way.
It could definitely be an abusive kind of love though. I think of Roy more as an alcoholic father.

Given that in his only line of dialogue he implies that he is not only responsible for all that Yellow had passed through but also that he planned to put him under worse torture all for an infraction that for his wording and Yellow's personality was likely small, perhaps even imaginiare, I think that is hard to argue that he cares for his son in any way.

My favourite idea of the family is that it's actually Roy's family. It has been theorised that yellow guy is made after Leslie, the shows in cannon creator of sorts I believe, late son David. If that's the case and Roy is called yellow guys dad, then it could be theorised that Roy may be Leslie's ex-husband. Back to the idea I believe in, the family could be Roy's side, with Leslie not liking any of them or atleast not liking any except maybe the twins, so she shows them as a bunch of creeps

I find it so adorable when Yellow says, "Dad. I knew you'd come," because Yellow rarely EVER mentions his father. It's just not a thing. They don't appear to have a relationship AT ALL. Roy is only seen with Yellow in the "TIME" episode of the web series, and now in Yellow's thought bubble in the first scene of this episode (and only in context of the twins talking about family members). So the fact that when he was kidnapped and bound to a table full of terrifying family fanatics and forced to be their new Mother is when Yellow was thinking, "I'll be okay, I know Dad will save me, eventually, somehow." That's flippin' cute. I'm glad he was right.

In Jobs, Duck and Red don't want to fall in line the way they are expected to; Red doesn't want a job and Duck doesn't want to be a factory worker. Both of their dreams are crushed under the system until they accept it and become a part of it.
-Transportation and Healthy Eating: both of these episodes see characters trying to escape. In Healthy Eating Red has already escaped and is trying to call Duck and Yellow to save them, yet Duck is stopped by the teachers. In Transportation Red wants to escape with Yellow and Duck. Again his efforts are foiled by a teacher when the car breaks down and Lesley restarts the show. In both episodes Red realizes they're in a prison and tries to save himself and the other 2.

I really like the messaging through each episode and the original web series. There’s a message being sent but through the duration of the video it shares other narratives.
Like with family, it starts very heavily with Lily and Todney pushing the nuclear family ideal and refusing that anything else, especially the three main characters, could be a family.
As the episode progresses we get different forms of family. Ducks lack of any family, Red’s desire to find his family (putting himself in risk and giving a lot of himself for it) only for it to be not what he was expecting and him to be disliked by his bio family. And yellow, who’s dad has been speculated (or just is, in my opinion) abusive. All three have a different view on family (either not caring for it or wanting it deeply) and all three have a mostly disfunctional form of a family. But they find solice with eachother.
TL;DR I like the pro found-family narrative and how all the characters have dysfunctional families showing all the different kinds of hardships

yeah its pretty obvious to anyone watching Roy only wants the chicken, what with him saying "yum yum yum" and shots emphasising that he's looking at the chicken and not his son. One COULD argue he may have come to save Roy for his selfish sadistic reasons at first but at the end of the day he wants that chicken more than he wants his son.
I think what's even more egregious how people say he "ate the family"when it's more likely he just murdered them normally because they were in the way of the chicken, the thing he actually wants to eat.

i reckon that the teleportation powers of the twins is actually a big part of the episode; and the house is sort of a construct of a teacher like how in the originals tony or colin or shrignold could bring the guys to the future or a digital world or the love cult; they basically teleport the characters around and bring them to their "places'
like id imagine even if their transport journey let them out into a 'real" world (not the real world) stuff like petersons and sons and friends bits and parts ltd or todney and lilys house wouldnt be "real' places they could go visit of their own accord

If Roy Showed up at my house, and said “Its Roying Time!” I’d scream.
Also I’m pretty sure the Milk Carton with their picture on it does NOT mean they’re missing, the milk carton was in episodes on TH-cam. They’ve BEEN kidnapped before, and I’m pretty sure Lesley just reused a prop? It’s her show now, so.

  • @OrgaStan99
    @OrgaStan99 ปีที่แล้ว

In my opinion I think Roy isn’t exactly evil, more so just neglecting yellow guy, if you look at the end of 6, he doesn’t appear to be stopping red guy, just guiding him to the plug. And he might not be watching them in a creepy way, but maybe to watch yellow guy. Perhaps he died in the same style of accident as David and Lesley, and was reincarnated as Roy.
I personally think the two series are connected, the explanation for the different houses could simply be two different doll houses. And the 3 characters not remembering could simply be the "backups" this also explains why Duck remembers winning a tournament but the others don’t remember him doing that or the other things in the "goodbye" to you video. Another detail is maybe the plug, is meant to represent the crash. If you also pay attention to the themes of the lessons, it starts really simple, With creativity, time, love, computer basics, healthy eating, dreams, but the tv show has more complex themes like jobs, death, family, how to maintain friends, transport, and electricity. Showing what Lesley would’ve thought David as he was older.
Or it’s a funny show with creepy puppets.
