Um, if there is a second tv season, could you please do a secrets analysis of the season 2 episodes?
As Yellow Guy reaches the stairs, after red guy and duck mention stain edwards and experiments, you can hear Red guy talking about how no one is going to listen to them which was probably added as an Easter egg for those who are listening closely for details.
I've seen everyone mention the "worm fired for harassment" story in the newspaper, but no one pointing out that there's also a story about a blackout! It turns the series into a loop!
For some reason, I don't believe Yellow didn't know what he was doing in the end. The way he says "Shreddable" makes me feel like he knows and is doing it intentionally to trap his so-called friends in this nightmare
The darkest timeline of all.
I concur, for me, it's Smart Yellow Guy walking out of Lesley's room, like he's thinking: "Oh, so it's (this thing) that's going on... Wow! Holy shit! We're really going to do this, huh? That's just... wow." realising his role as jailor.
When he sees the stairs, he seems invisible to the others, they talk "adult stuff". Like he has shifted dimension.
And I thought, he's remembering dying in the dump, before having made the bargain with Lesley to save him with a reset?
He's been to the prop box? And now, so have Red Guy and Duck... Now they all know what will happen to them, once the drama is resolved and the show is over, they'll get the X-eyes, like the others. Can't have that, better to keep the abuse going.
Could it be an allegory for the human race in illegitimate existence? Plenty of back-ups, is every person being made from multiple copies of copies of copies [...] of other people? And we CERN into a new reality (Age of Aquarius) to prevent the show from ending?
Sidenote: It's the rat in the grey box, where it has nothing to do, but scream at the walls, that always chooses the heroin water until it overdoses... The ones in Rat Park, play all day, do heroin for fun, party all evening, and fuck all night... Those rats never get addicted to drugs.
Finally sowmone says it!! I've been thinking this for a long time, I personally think the reason he shredded it is because he knew he would just go right back up the stairs again and could get the book whenever he wanted, in other words he became aware he's in a time loop
I hope it's not that depressing, but also... this episode is implied to be the first one, with Yellow Guy constantly referencing it throughout the series, and "the book" being on the bookshelf in the intro song! Perhaps the entire show is about one giant power play/spite move!
THEORY: He was going to share it with them so they could escape together, but then they tore his batteries out. Feeling vengeful and betrayed, he decides that they don't deserve to leave this place after all...
Or maybe they all just love shredding stuff and that's the only thing Yellow Guy could think of doing with the book without fresh batteries. Either way, I still think Yellow Guy feels pretty salty right about now.

Honesly I stand by my own theory: that leslie ISN'T the mastermind, rather she's as trapped in this as the others. She's not the director, she's the janitor. After all, when asked if she's the one in charge she doesn't say "yes that's me", instead she laughs....and then has a short breakdown.
You know, I am genuniely considering the idea of Red's former coworkers being the masterminds behind the entire show (I mean that would explain what Roy was doing at their building at least, plus, how could somebody dislike the creative song?), I know that is unlikely and don't have a lot to back it up, but with the information we currently have is just as possible as anything else. In any case I think it's kinda funny how the guy who was once considered by the fandom as the confirmed, indisputable director of the show ended up being the janitor's janitor.
When Leslie is playing the piano she says 'we're still dancing in chains'.

- You mentioned that this episode breaks the fourth wall, but it's important to note that the stairs that Yellow Guy climbs are literally *on the fourth wall of the room*, hidden behind the camera this whole time.
- 20/06, the time on the clock, is just the British way of representing June 20th.
The electricity bill is also for £19.60. 19/6. In the order we do dates in Britain, that's the 19th of June.
The level of detail in this show is honestly so incredible.

Alright so thanks to this I noticed a really cool little detail, remember how yellow accidentally decapited that duck figure. Well if you go to around 13:01 in this video you will see a clip of red and duck passing a TV in the dark, but you pay close attention to the left corner of the screen you will see ducks decapited body.
SO something I only just noticed: Yellow guy says: There has to be something else....Isn't there?
While red guy in the 5th episode says: There has to be something.....ANYTHING?

I don’t think Electracey ever had any bad intentions, she seemed far nicer than most other teachers are really only wanted to teach about electricity. Maybe it’s just because she never got the chance to do anything bad, but y’know. Along with Sketchbook, Colin, and Choo Choo also being very friendly, it’s interesting to think about why some teachers are evil while others aren’t.

This episode is what I always thought this series was. Even the yt series. Red guy finds out what's going on and hates it and decides to leave, bird finds out what's going on and stays because he has power here that he doesn't have otherwise, and yellow is slowly figuring it out as he goes.

I don’t fully agree with this making red and duck bad friends. Sometimes friends act weird or even bad when you improve, but not because they don’t want the best for you, but because they’re afraid of change and how that might affect your friendship.
It’s not that they’re mean, it’s that they want things to always stays the same, just like yellow in chapter 2 where they complain that all the other friends aren’t like duck.

My reading of the episode is that each level represents a different level of education.
First level they never almost leave - elementary school.
Second level - middle school and high school as one, the lessons are what you learn in about 6th grade, and it's about how the stress of puberty and sex interferes with the educational process. The characters are big long versions of themselves, looking awkward with long noodly arms, suggesting they represent the body horror intrinsic to growing up.
Third level - college, universities claim to be sources of higher learning but they torture animals and did medical and psychological experiments on people in the past that would not fly with ethics committees today, it's showing that. And lampooning the arrogance of academia.
Attic - true higher learning that represents going on a spiritual quest, becoming advanced, and attaining true enlightenment by finding the ultimate teacher/mentor and working with them one on one. This is the ultimate form of learning - the all-knowing master and the wise, eager-to-learn pupil.
But of course it's a show where the theme is "education GONE HORRIBLY WRONG" so it has to show something bad about this too. In the case of, you meditate, have your big enlightenment moment, and then your epiphany isn't heard and you can't reach your fellow men with your message. His knowledge is forgotten by the end, perhaps representing the creator's beliefs that there is no higher spiritual knowledge to be gained, or the shredder thing is his/her way of saying we're so dumb and short-sighted and quick to violence as a species that no enlightenment from any spiritual teacher could ever save us.
Why is she unhappy and upset then she even has a small little mental breakdown if she’s so wise then why are their more stairs we see but he doesn’t get to go up.
I think it’s to communicate it’s all bullshit and that the real solution is being obscured for personal cruel reasons to keep power in the hand of the ruler he’s not reasoned out of going up the stairs he’s tricked into thinking this is the solution.
Then his friends backstab him because they were tricked and manipulated to by capitalism that’s right its a simple take down of the way school and education are thought of and used under capitalism.
If you really look into it this is what the show is mainly critiquing the big unseen bad is literally the unseen hand of capitalism pupating and controlling forces to control others for malicious personal reasons.
She’s a creator being beaten up and used by capitalism for propaganda.
I don’t think your wrong by the way I think what I said should be added to what you said for a more concrete and real message of the show founded of course on hard evidence.
I think it makes a lot of sense.
The Funeral Episode shows that the Coffin Man thought it was Yellow who was dead instead of Duck, later to reveal a Tombstone with "David" on it instead of Duck's name.
Roy is kind of like a hellhound trying to bring the cast into focus and is possible the abusive Father of Lezlie's Son who died in a Car accident with her Husband, hence why they're both puppets in this world and I believe Roy is also a Robot.
In the Family Episode, the ending of Roy eating the Family is probably him punishing them for making the trio go off script and weren't meant to be part of the show, case and point, the talking Apple who is kiled off before he could teach the trio about Health Eating. Lilly and Todney werem't part of the show and so as punishment, were eaten alive by Roy along with their family.
Lezlie screams at Yellow saying "YOU'RE NOT MY SON", hinting how she's having a mental break down but wants to stay in this fantasy world living in ignorance, also I believe this reveals that Yellow's real... is David, and the Funeral was for him, the child he replaced and it was a way for Lezlie to get over her Son's death, though in a twist mental way.
Finally, the Transport Episode has an ending were she basically brings them all the way back to the house, suggesting she has powers over them, Red was actually able to break out from the show with Duck and Yellow into the Real World, though Lezlie decides to bring them back.
So to summeries it:
- Yellow is a Robotic Clone of David, the Son of the world's Creator
- The Teachers were actually trying hard to make them blessifuly unaware of the Real World
- Yelllow, or Davidi in this case, has been in a cycle that repeats itself by his own creator, his own Mother if you will
- Roy is a Robotic Replica of Lezlie's Husband and David's Dad to keep tabs on David so he doesn't leave
this is such a great theory and it makes so much sense whattt

I want to point out some symbolism too in that the word in the crossword is "up".
Now that's not a hard word to remember or spell.
Why can't Duck do it? He's smart. The joke isn't that Duck is stupid. They never make that joke.
Duck is depressed. He represents depression or a depressed person's mindset. He cannot remember what "up" even means, that's like depression and the inability to remember what it was even like to be happy when you've suffered from it for too long.
So Yellow's sudden intelligence is not just intelligence, but the battery pack also lifts his mood and pulls him out of his depression. The "reset the status quo" drive is because the main characters are familiar with the depression, it's what they know. So changing it is something they resist even if someone could show them the way and give them a better life.
It's not dissimilar from how people tend to resist change in their personal lives, even if it would be an improvement. (They'd literally rather live in darkness than change their precious status quo.)
The part where yellow one starts explaining up almost seems like he's talking about the big and bigger boys up stairs. He specifically uses "bigger" and "on top"
Maybe he remembers without realising?

I found your channel through this series and I just wanna say your sense of humor and the references you make are just absolutely perfect. And yes a Jack Stauber x DHMIS collab would be amazing
I saw Rem Game's theories and Roberto Cein's theory (a mexican youtuber btw) and I got some points and details I felt that made sense and could make up a good theory
- The ppl above Lesley probably noticed smart yellow guy
- The webseries episodes come after the TV ones
- The book is the script of the series
- The books cover tells a story
- Lesley is also kinda trapped
-Ep 3 is not a family but a foster home
- Lesley probably adopted a child to replace David before she created her made up world (wich is represented by shy older brother, being forced to even wear similar clothes as his dead brother)
- They *are* in a TV show
- Red guy did manage to scape with the others in webseries ep 6 [im personally adding that thats why the plug is so big, that he disconnected *all* electric power (cuz even when the lights are off bigger boys have light and we se some light when smart yellow guy gets his batteries of him), and probably Roy is just triying to let them there because the ppl above Lesley are telling him to, but he's still less powerful than her]
- The reason why all the episodes end up being creepy is because the show is a "overprotecting tutorial", [notice how yellow guy loses his hand without the helmet and because duck wasn't following the rules, how they get yellow guy kidnapped only when he gets away from his friends, etc] Lesley is triying to use overprotection to cope with her sons death
- The show is telling Lesley's story backwards
I may be forgetting something but those are the ones I thought about.
If there was a painting of Yellow guy climbing the stairs. You gotta consider there are more copies upstairs. It's not just flowers for Algernon, yellow can get his batteries back!

Ok, remember the ending of the original series? Red guy took out the plug on the show, but they just got replace.
Now we know that they have multiple figurines of the characters, so that they repeat the cycle over and over again.
It could be that Lesley is part of the Council that Lamp mentioned. If they are all dead, living their life again as a performance, it would make so much sense! It even could be related to the theory that Lesley's son.
But it seems that Lesley is just the writter/performer of the puppet show. If that's the case, there's probably a director and producer. We already know that there are actors and puppeteers, and maybe even an editor. So the whole Council could it be the makers of the show itself.

Thanks for these videos! I didn't see it as a huge character turn for Duck and Red, they've always been callous and condescending towards Yellow. There is a lot of emotional weight attached to this episode though, which makes it very special. Wouldn't mind new DHMIS content, congrats on blowing up! I just have one request - don't become the DHMIS guy. Please continue making other content.

Also: Electracey shows up and interrupts Duck when he says electricity should be free. A lot of little digs at capitalism in the show but I love that one in particular.
Also also: El = a Hebrew name for God, I like to bring this up when Death Note is being discussed too.
And electricity is often a metaphor for enlightenment, reason, and science. This episode is about all those gone horribly wrong.
Genuinely love the way he breaks down episodes/themes and injects jokes into it that fit the dissection. (Also vid #2 saying he's cute 🤷).

1:58 instead of spelling out the word “up” yellow guy actually describes what is up as in what is above them “it’s when you can’t remember” because these events have happened before “that over the top of you is bigger ones, and then bigger and bigger” referencing the big boys room and the bigger boys room “then over the top of it there’s a smaller one of all of it on top of that” talking about Lesley and the doll house.
The thing being experimented on in the upper rooms is Stain from the Death episode. Head canon.

What a fantastic ending to the season. As much as I want more of this series, I'd honestly be fine with it ending here if the creators keep making high quality stuff under a different IP. Having the ending be the continuation of an endless cycle is the right amount of depressing and fascinating for DHmiS

Lack of theme song - "There's Three of Us" there's a distinct lack of harmony caused by YG's enlightenment.
Meaning, all the harmonious happiness embodied by previous instances of the song are all lies in retrospect, they're all harmony built on the bullying of Yellow Guy by the other two. If he grew a brain and some self-esteem the whole show would fall apart. So - No theme song.

i feel like electracey is the nicest out of all the teachers in both the youtube series and the tv one, but like all the other teachers she doesnt really teach them anything besides what is and isnt powered by electricity. when duck says he always thought it was because of some weather, she says no...but then, she never actually tells them how it works. lol
What if lesley isn't the one in charge? You said that some power keeps trying to distract yellow and move his path back downstairs. The big boys room, the bigger boys room. And then her. And im that room, is another flight of stairs. And lesley feels painfully like the "god", the one with all the answers, she even gives more theory fodder! But what if she isn't? I mean, it was the thing that got him to go back downstairs. What if there's some higher power that is doing everything in its power both to keep the characters in the dark, but also US in the dark. Lesley is just another onf of the big boys, created purely to distract us and yellow from seeing the real picture.
