Loved the original, but I confess, I like this one better.
The slightly slower speed really suits the song, and it’s closer to some of his ‘Quarter Past Four’ and ‘Sage and Stone’ stuff. It’s really nice to drive along to

It’s like a prayer... sometimes words alone fall short. This took me back to sitting in the little chapel, holding the sacred hymnals my momma played the piano for and my papa lead the music. It’s a safe place, much needed in this world today. I miss feeling that childlike faith/hope. Thank you for bringing me back.

I fully appreciate that these two versions follow each other in the line up. The original is very present in feel while the alt version feels more like grateful reflection of a past event. It's amazing what tempo can convey. Your music tends to hit both the emotional and analytical sides of my brain. Very intriguing.

I read where a blogger stated that when Avi released his latest EP, he wasn't intending on making a Gospel album, but that's exactly what he did. I couldn't agree more... this song especially is profoundly spiritual. When I first heard it, it brought back so many memories of my life as an addict before I found "grace" that truly "set me free."
