At the end of 2017 Aldious and Mary's Blood were at the top of the female metal band scene in Japan. But Aldious is probably one of the bands with a more troubled record, their original singer Rami (excellent) left the band due to health issues in 2012. The singer you see in this video is Re:NO, she also left the band at the end of 2018 due to hearing problems. In 2019 they introduced their new singer R!N, but in the midst of the covid pandemic, she was diagnosed with severe depression, she rather to resign and currently they use a guest singer. Since 2014 their drummer is the amazing Marina Bozzio, stepdaughter of legendary Frank Zappa drummer... Terry Bozzio.

So many great bands, so little time. Thanks for another great Japanese all-female band. One of the original all female power bands, they've been around since about 2008, I think the singer is the second singer.
Aldious might have to go the way of Mary's Blood where Maki Oyama would be like Yashiro and just be their support member going forward. I don't think Maki wants to give up on her solo career so I doubt she'll ever join fully but they are having a blast performing live together so I could see her doing lives and recording with them.
Aldious are ogs in the scene and I consider their song Dominator to be a classic. partly because the first time i watched the video back in 2013 my mind was blown....then disapointed because they only released it as a sample video so it cut off during the solo. lol some one did eventually uploaded the whole song. lol but yeah it was also one of those videos that was fairly popular on the reaction scene too.
They are a killer band that's been around for ~10+ years but unfortunately can't seem to keep a singer for long. They have a live BR coming out in January with Maki Oyama on vocals that they filmed when she stepped in to finish the tour after R!N's sudden departure. The drummer is Marina Bozzio, Terry Bozzio's daughter, so that explains her chops.
My second favorite Japanese band (Band Maid is #1). So amazing. Re:NO (vox) leaving was soul crushing. These girls are another live band. You gotta see a live vid. One warning with them though. Stylistically, they are ALL OVER THE ROAD. Technically they are classified as power metal but cross catalog that is a VERY loose descriptor. Check out yozakura (cherry blossom at night).
A lot of Japanese guitarists use midi amps on top of more standard amps. This means if there is synth sounds in a song and the band doesn't have a keyboardist or even if they do (Gacharic Spin) it is provided by the guitarist. Either all or the majority of Nemophila's synth sounds are provided by Hazuki and Saki in studio since they both use midi amps.
My dude, Aldious deserves way more recognition than they do. Terrific band, gone through some lineup changes (as everyone has been pointing out already, sorry, late to the party hahaha). Latest single they released didn't really hit me, but their discography is almost flawless. Can't get enough!
Somewhere years ago, I read a claim that their look is based on Japanese hostess clubs. Lonely men drink over-priced drinks and pay to talk to young women usually dressed in evening gowns. Like Band-Maid, their look and their music are very different.
Unfortunately they are another band that has issues keeping members this time it is singers. Re:No the singer in this video has had to quit music all together because she has an illness that affects her hearing.
@@mogaman28 I believe she had an issue with her ear that caused one of the tubes to remain open causing hearing issues. I’m sure she still has that amazing voice even if she’s not singing regularly anymore.

Stepdaughter, to be precise.
@@cepho8349 Since she uses his last name and calls him her dad, I'm going with daughter. Family is not necessarily limited to blood relations.
@@russ_henry Fair enough.

Great Job! You're working hard and having fun! So the new norm is 4 reactions a day now, right (including Steve's 3rd request)?

Marna is Terry Bozzio's kid alright.
Re:No has the best sultry vocals in the Japanese metal genre’.
Had. She sadly retired in 2019 or 2020 due to health reasons.

Yeah, I agree. I love her voice.
