- Penang is incredible! Join me on an exhilarating journey through Malaysia, where I hop on a high-speed, $30 business class train from Kuala Lumpur to Butterworth station. 🚅
Throughout my journey, you'll witness firsthand the warmth and hospitality of the Malaysian locals as I make new friends along the way. 🤝 From engaging conversations to shared laughter, every moment is filled with genuine connections and unforgettable memories.
But the adventure doesn't stop there! 🏝️ After arriving at Butterworth station, I embark on a picturesque ferry ride to Penang Island, where I dive into the heart of Georgetown. Get ready to be mesmerized by the charm of this historic city as I explore its rich culture and fascinating landmarks.
And what's an adventure without indulging in delicious local cuisine? 🍜 Prepare your taste buds for a culinary delight as I feast on the mouthwatering mee sotong with cuttlefish, followed by sipping on a refreshing coconut drink that's simply divine.
But that's not all - I'll be checking into the brand new sleep box hotel, providing you with an exclusive peek into its modern amenities and cozy accommodations. 🛏️
Join me on this epic journey filled with laughter, friendship, and the discovery of hidden gems in Malaysia.

Hello sir I am Sohan I am from Bangladesh and you my favourite youtuber big fan love you brother ❤❤
malacca is good place. historical and food hunting place in malaysia..😃
Ipoh is also a great place
If you love curry, a must try in Penang is the famous Nasi Kandar and my fav is Hameediyah one of the oldest restaurant of Nasi Kandar there.
You should go to langkawi, north of penang.its an island😂
You should have your own tv show. Really dig your style on how friendly you are, polite, and positive. And yeah, welcome to my home, Penang!
Wow, thank you! That's such a nice compliment.
You said it right in the first place, Pinang is the original Malay name ( Pulau Pinang / Pinang Island). Penang is the Anglicised name of Pulau Pinang.
Normally people say it the anglicised way if they're just saying "Penang" and it's only when you add "Pulau" in front that it becomes "Pulau Pinang", just hearing Pinang sounds weird because it's a tree.
@@MagicalKid It's only recently that "normally people say it the anglicised way". Up till the 80s most would still call it Pulau Pinang. Those who call it Penang are either Chinese or people who are mengada-ngada.
Man your presentation and way of interaction with audience is excellent..that's why we love your work.
Just saw Maliks video trying and going to Kg Baru Baazar and here I am seeing him in your video lol.
It's a small world!

Welcome to my hometown, penang.🎉 waiting the next video.❤
Hi Brent, welcome to Penang! Firstly, stick to "Hello" or "Selamat Pagi (Good Morning)", "Selamat Petang (Good Afternoon)" or "Selamat Malam (Good Night)" when you are wishing anyone. The manner you greet people is - in Malaysia - reserved for Muslims and therefore can be a little sensitive to some people. Also you may wish Muslims a "Blessed Ramadan" rather than "Happy Ramadan".
Georgetown, Penang is the second largest city in Malaysia and so we do have a lot of big chains - yes, Starbucks, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, McDonald's - they are all here. Check out the Kek Lok Si Pagoda temple, go up Penang Hill (if you have time) and check out the seaviews (careful swimming in the sea as there may be jellyfish). In the Georgetown Heritage enclove, look out for the street art, enjoy the religious and cultural sites (you saw some already) and visit the clan jetties. Most of all, try out the food - thats what Penang is best known for. Enjoy and stay safe.
Good Advice for this naive tourist to take note on the proper greetings here in Malaysia.
What a stupid comment. Greetings are not reserved for Muslims. In fact you should appreciate that Brent Trimm is respecting Islam and greeting in Arabic. We should encourage him. Not discourage him
Wow!
You really enjoyed journey.welcome to KL sentral.

Happy gaining a few kg's in Penang my friend.. . After all png is the capital food paradise in Malaysia. I suggest for you to try Nasi kandar at hameediyah restaurant . Which is the oldest nasi kandar in malaysia. I promise you wont be dispointed.. 😊
Malaysians are super nice!
Dude MILO same like a hot chocolate, but our milo taste so good, you should try it😊
The cuttlefish used in Mi Sotong is the dried cuttlefish and then rehydrated with hot water. It's more flavourful that way.
And it's not really Indian Muslim food, originally. Indian don't have noodles in their tradition. And they also don't have sambal, especially that kind of sambal.
The noodle is chinese influence, the sambal sotong is Malay influence.
I believe it's originally a Penang/Kedah Malay food, which as later sold by the Indian Muslim and became identic with them.
Same case with Cendol. It's a Javanese desert originally, and later got picked up by the Indian Muslim. Now everyone think it's an Indian Muslim thing.
The Indian Muslim they're from India, obviously, but the thing is, up till 1980s, many of them were still Indian nationals who would travel back and forth between Malaysia and their Indian homeland. They'd be here for 2 years, peddling food on the street, and then go home for a few months. Now, not all their street food in India would do well with the locals tastebud. So they'd pick up some local foods, give it a little twist, and sell it.
Wow, first off, thank you so much for sharing such a detailed explanation! This is incredibly helpful. Thank you for commenting, and I really hope I earned your subscription.
yes please, you should add MALAY subtitles.

Ive seen you in abu marmu video yesterday 😂
Oh wow I haven’t seen this yet! I gotta find it. Thanks for telling me.
@@BrentTimm 👍🏻
Question, did you spend any time in KL at all, or did you immediately head towards Penang after arriving in KL from Singapore?
I'm sure it makes for good content, and I've done this route for pleasure before, if you're looking to get from Singapore to Penang, or Penang to Singapore the fastest way possible, there are direct flights between Singapore Changi and Penang International Airport. The entire trip between Singapore to Georgetown will take you less time than it does to get from Singapore to KL city centre, because the Penang airport is much closer Georgetown than KLIA is to the KL city centre.
Hi! Thanks for watching and for your question. I spent 4 days in KL last year, and made a few vlogs. I will end my trip on KL, and will make more vlogs soon! I wanted to take the train and bus, so I could see the landscapes and make a vlog.
May I know from which website/App you book your train tickets?
That mee goreng would definitely cost RM10 in KL 😅
Haha that sounds about right!
yes good 👍🏻 KL
❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍
i love how u ignored all the people who staring at u and just doing ur thing
You can go to a restaurant car back there which serves economy class too
This is great information!
I thought that KTM has a cafeteria longue for long distance travel like the ones going to Kelantan.
I wish! Food would've been awesome.
Hai bro my from India Kerala..i love you to video 👍👍
Thank you so much 🙂 I love Kerala!
thanks ♥️♥️♥️👍🏻👍🏻
@@BrentTimm my work Malaysia Selangor
I’m curious, you couldn’t use cash to buy the ferry ticket so what did you use? Are credit cards pretty worldwide?
Yes it is in most South East Asia countries
Done subscribed
I appreciate you!
You should try nasi kandar in penang
Do people get annoyed that you are filming? And what if they dont want to be in your vids? Any problems with that and how do you handle it? Thanks! So fun to watch!
The only place people seemed to get really upset or annoyed was Morocco. I truly can’t recall anybody telling me not to film or getting upset with me in the past four years.
There's Fort Cornwallis in Penang, you know General Charles Cornwallis, the one involved in the American Revolutionary War? His fort is here.
Nameste?????!!!! Hahahaha! Hilarious!
dried cuttlefish is used to make mee sotong sauce, which gives it a 'fishy' taste.
Oh interesting, thank you! I loved it.
Mj is such a sweet girl
Hi Brent, enjoy your time in food paradise land. During Rahmadan be more polite if you are not eat in a public.
Dont forget Nasi Kandar penang Icon dish, kueh Teaw Goreng, Chendol and Tea Tarik.
What did he do that makes you think Brent was not polite? It’s folks like you that portray Islam badly.
whoa you looked like Brian Pillman
Somebody, please, explain how to deal with the heat & humidity! It's like swimming underwater outside. As much as I like Malaysia, setting foot outside is a lot like walking into a wet kiln. Please tell me how to stay cool, dry, clean & fresh outdoors in the middle of the day. Don't tell me that I'll get used to it, don't tell me to stay in front of an air-conditioner, don't tell me to avoid going outside in the middle of the day! Thank you.
haha I was actually way sweatier in Singapore! I'm a chubby white guy from Northern USA, so I especially FEEL THE HEAT
@@BrentTimm So, what's the solution?
Anyone notice how upset those people were behind him when he recycled his seat
My man lucked out. I don't see many travelers ate Padang Kota Lama Mee Sotong. One of the best on the island.
Some of the more famous foods in Penang : Mee sotong. ;) Nasi Kandar, Ali Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang (very spicy though), Asam Laksa, Char Koay Teow, Wan Tan Mee, There's one famous Banana leaf place in Little India, and of course the street foods, just to name a few. It's all available within Georgetown itself and all within walking distances.
For foods in Penang, generally if you see large food courts, or tons of street foods, you'll be fine, most of them will be good. For individual shops and restaurants, or tiny little places, just do a little bit of research, you'll find some of the best the island has to offer.
Now, if you're willing to visit further south/south east part of the island, there are also tons of choices, and you won't see a lot of travelers in southeastern part of the island. So there ya go. Ask away ! :)
Go to East Coast Malaysia n Kelantan
hey bro u should try south indian banana leaf food with rice
Dude, check out my Kerala / South India vlogs! I ate so much banana leaf rice :)
damm bro,....nows the fasting season. so there is no jamm on the highway
Come to Indonesia
Soon! Hopefully in May or June..Is the weather good?
