I use a dumbbell to help hold the ruler too. Seriously helps especially since I’ve had thumb arthritis surgery and my hand isn’t as strong as it used to be.

I always have more trouble when I double fold. Try not to have to do that. Longer rulers and mats really help!

Good suggestion as not all mats have the correct measurements!

I use the creative grid rulers, so I don’t have to apply the little sandpaper grips to the ruler, I’ve had them wear off on the ruler before. Lesson learned.
