That line was “particular stuff and for particular problems that aren’t particularly tough”
Nailed it with the change in your thinking from 'god or the devil was responsible' to "I am responsible for my actions and consequences". Was the biggest and healthiest psychological change for for me.
There is a being who knows all my thoughts and dreams, all my shining moments and shameful selfishness, who judges all of my actions and to whom I am answerable regardless of success or failure.
*That being is me.*
Well I'm particularly tucked @carpelibrarium8522
This is my favourite Tim song... just brilliant! Loved your reaction!
Bow down to the Genius of Tim Minchen.... A fabulous night out has been had seeing him Live ❤
He is not only hilarious he a such a talented musician 😂
🤣Sam is still recovering from his burns.
His comment at the end where he says "it's a miracle," is something along the lines of "it's a miracle. I've fucked up this song in some of the best venues. Thankyou for being here to witness me not fuck up this song."
I strongly recommend listening to some of Tim's interviews and podcasts.
I mean ultimately it doesn't matter since Sam doesn't exist. This song was more about Tim's use of the English language than anything else which he has stated himself.
@@jackwhitbread4583 Sam does exist..
Too bad Sam's burns don't fit under "ocular degeneration" 😢
It'll be a true miracle if Sam ever recovers from these burns.
@@65cj55 "Sam", no. But there almost certainly is _someone,_ or a mix of several someones, that Tim has used as the basis for this.
Caption should read "particular problems that aren't particularly tough". I'm glad to find your channel via this video. Looks great and I look forward to seeing more.
I was reading through the comments to make sure someone said this
Another song of his in a similar vein is The Good Book.
None of us care about what others believe. What we take exception to is when they try to make laws based on their beliefs that affect the rest of us. If they’d just mind their own business we’d all be fine with it lol
I always consider that all the different religions cannot be right. So I will reconsider my views once they sort themselves out and come to a consensus. 🤣
@@sociallyferal4237 100% fair lol trouble is it’s the hunger games out there to fight for the one who’s right haha
Preach! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
in the immortal words of George Carlin " i wouldn't mind it so much if they added one more commandment "thou shall keep thy religion to thyself!"
@ 100%
I think you may be the first reactor ive seen that has correctly stated that love is not a tangible entity but a concept, you seem like you'd be a cool dude to have decent conversations with. Keep up the good work
Thank you😃
I love that song! It’s great every time. But the first time when you have no idea where he is going with it is extra special.
He’s a genius. He does not like the power and corruption that often goes hand in hand with religious organisations. He wrote the music for Mathilda the musical and Groundhog Day. Lullaby is my favourite.
At the end he cries "it's a miracle!" because that was the first time he'd made it through the song without fluffing it.
Honestly it`s one of his greatest songs!
Loved your reaction to one of my favourite songs. Check out the Pope Song!! ❤
You should hear his Dark Side "Awesome version", Understand it, Prejudice, You grew on me, Rock and Roll Nerd, Not Perfect,
Lullaby, Play it Safe (for the Sydney Opera House), Good Book, F sharp, and the Pope Song (w/Sydney Orchestra from the same concert as this video.) So many things to choose from. He's a genuinely good guy who tries to take a different approach to life than most.
This ☝️😁
What a great way to finish the week, a reaction to my fav Tim Minchin song, from an intelligent reactor with a beautiful accent 😍
☺️‼️
Let's hear it for Sams mom! We're all believers now!
16:45 "Particular problems that aren't particularly tough". The captions are very iffy throughout, I'm guessing they're auto-generated?
I don't like using the word "genius" _too_ freely, but Tim's way with words is truly masterful, and he's absolutely _brilliant_ at making you _think_ you know what's coming before pulling the rug right out from under you. 😜
From what you said, it sounds like you haven't heard Prejudice yet; I definitely think that's one you'll get a kick out of... 😉
When the captions come up one word at a time, they’re usually auto-generated. Someone putting the captions in could make them come up that way, but it’s probably a lot more work. So they’ll generally do an entire line at a time, frequently with musical notes at either end.
Also, he mentioned only reacting to one Tim Minchin song before, and my search only brought up this and Storm. So I second your suggestion that he react to Prejudice, hoping he hasn’t already heard it.
@@DennisKovacich Yeah, I guessed that was probably the case; I've never tried captioning videos before... 😜
@@Brickerbrack, I guess you could say having been married to a deaf woman for 25 years gave me a little experience in that area.
I don't believe I ever heard this one yet. Fantastic! Tim is such a brilliant writer and musician. Oh, and your review was PARTICULARLY great, too! 😂😊
I really loved your reaction. That’s how I felt when I first heard it. Seemed to go in and on. This is an awesome rabbit hole to go down. My other favourites are Dark Side (awesome piano solo), Prejudice and Lullaby to start with.
Tim Minchin is awesome.
Mate, you totally get it and I love you for it!
It's so catchy, so petty, and so insightful all at the same time
If Sam was a real person I would agree with you that its petty, sadly he is not and neither is Storm. Now the song for Phil Doust is different, that one is 100 per cent petty.
I love that he played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar :)
That’s the reaction this song deserves haha….. i was enjoying how you’re reacting to it. Such a great song
As "your mom" jokes go, that one's a particularly elaborate one.
I love this song. It's so good and it's the thruth! 💜 Love Tim!
Tim spits bars lol
He says "...and for particular problems that aren't particularly tough..."
God can't heal amputees.
I personally love Airport Piano and Apart Together. The latter makes me cry.
The devil's in the details! Brilliant.🤩‼
I see what you did there... 😎
Great reaction 😊
Confirmation Bias: the musical 😂
Brilliant all around: both Tim AND your opinions, breakdown and insights❤️❤️❤️🔥🖤👍🌟
You should react to some of his serious songs too: Carry you, Airplane, Play it safe (for the Sidney Opera House 50th anniversary, brilliant song and MV)...
Also his song about Christmas in the southern hemisphere, "White Wine in the Sun."
@@russb24 absolutly! But I was waiting to xmas to recommend this one 😉
Love your reaction to this brilliant artist!
Definitely check out "darkside" (awesome version), "lullaby", "the good book" and "10 foot c**k and a few hundred virgins", Tim is such a brilliant performer and I hope to see many more Tim minchin songs on this channel, keep up the good work.
I liked and subscribed.. More Tim Minchin please ... he's my favorite humanist.
Thank you for supporting Qofy’s channel ☺️‼️
well spoken, you and tim!
I think I may have introduced you to Storm a long time ago on a livestream. Glad you’re enjoying him!! ❤
The head bobble with that big tickled grin 😂 fucking magic ahhahahaha
You would LOVE Tim's "Not Perfect" (tho its not comedy) and his "Rock and Roll Nerd" (hilarious and relatable) ❤️ Much love to you from Aus🇦🇺
16:35 or so "for particular problems that aren't particularly tough."
Great reaction man!
Thank you! 😃
大好き!ティム・ミンチンは天才だ。
Imagine being this Sam guy being roasted by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
He also has a beat poem called Storm, which is hilarious x
He referenced in the video that he has watched it. I think he's already made a video on it
Well done! ❤
Hahaha amen brother hahaha I’m also a reformed religoholic
A particular prayer in a particular church in a particular style with a particular stuff and for particular problems that aren't particularly tough and for particular people, preferably white, and for particular senses, preferably sight. A particular prayer in a particular spot to a particular version of a particular god.
And if you really want Tim's view on organised religion listen to the pope song. For his writing check out Storm his 9 minute beat poem, live not the animated version.
Didn’t he also do “ come home George pell “
@@juleneyoung5053 ya
Feet is good too
Most elaborate "your mom" burn in human history.
Isn't it interesting that when people stop listening to the teaching of religion most people are calmer, clearer and able to live a better more balanced life.
I have watched so many reactions to this song and I'm pretty sure you are the first person to say that love without evidence is unrequited love which is attributed to stalking, before Tim said it. 😂 double kudos to you!
Great reaction. Sam unwittingly nailed it… religion is just an emotional response 🤣
when he said its a miracle at the end its because this is the second time he has performed this song and the first time was not very grand and was for a small audience. so he was saying its a miracle that he didnt stuff it up, its a very complicated song with complicated lyrics to perform
Love your reaction. Tim is so brilliant! If you’re looking for suggestions I’d love to see some reactions to the songs from Wander Over Yonder. They are awesome!
🔥🤩
It is in the Sydney Opera House.
Welcome to the heathen club. Time to do “The Pope Song”!
Spot on about religion essentially telling you:
Don’t worry, don’t think about it.
We have all the “answers”.
Just accept them and don’t question it.
1. I believe this was performed at the famous Sydney Opera House. 2. We already have evidence of love. It's certain chemicals reacting with certain neurons, and then reinforced over time by the love neurons attaching to more and more other neurons. #SCIENCE
He wrote all the music for this as well as writing the lyrics. You will Love his Beat Poem- Storm .
Tim minchin is also self taught on piano and cant actually read music so every time he plays it, it's slightly different but always incredible.
Thats the most dumb thing about Tim i have ever come across. Please educate yourself avout him!
Either way sing to our ...👌🤙
A better example of this:
You dont know your partner has cheated, unless you get evidence/proof. Up to that point, you have faith in the belief they are Faithful. If you dont, you become controlling, unfaithful or callous.
The argument for Love, in this context, is those who believe someone loves them but they're actually just being used. They obviously get enough evidence that theyre supposedly loved, in some form that pleases them.
I am not religious.
You should watch "the pope song" if you think this one is shocking, it is shocking but also very right, Tim has doctorates in both worlds and music, he is extremely talanted, he has amazing funny comedy songs but he has also written songs and music for musicals. Also look at one called "come home Cardinal Pell", it's about an Australian priest who covered up for cathlic phidophlies then moved them on to other victims, tried to cover it up then claimed to be to sick to come back to Australia for a government inquire into it all, he hid in the Vatican and they protect him.
If you have only seen this and "Storm" you MUST SEE "Prejudice" and pretty much anything else...... "The Pope Song", "Darkside" etc!!!
Instead of "for particular problems and I'm particularly Tough" your right about it being miss captioned... he actually said "for particular problems that aren't particularly tough" meaning compared to world peace or end of suffering one particular cataract is not that hard to fix.... It makes a lot more sense when its said that way rather than him suddenly saying he is particularly tough!!
Prejudice is done
Scientists did an experiment training pigeons some time ago. If the pigeon pecked a particular coloured board they got a food reward and it took very little time to train them to do this. Then they tried just giving rewards at random. The pigeons started repeating whatever they'd been doing at the exact moment the food arrived. If they'd been walking from one corner of the cage to another they started walking that route over and over again thinking that was what had caused the food to arrive. If they'd been turning anticlockwise or standing on one leg that's what they did ad infinitum. What it did is prove that both humans and pigeons are very bad at judging cause and effect. We seek patterns and confuse correlation with causation. Theists confuse praying to their particular imaginary sky pixie with something happening soon after as intentional but have no trouble writing off someone else praying to a different sky pixie as coincidence. Indoctrination, confirmation bias, stupidity and the inability to think critically are powerful training tools. As is having a brain that's only the size of a pigeons.
Please react to George Carlin
There are thousands of gods people believe in lol sams mum was luckily the right type lol
I’m an Aussie atheist too. Yeah yeah yeah
Please check out his song "Good Book"
Having loved and having been loved aren’t proof that love exists, that job belongs to grief.
Proof and evidence are not them same thing. Being loved and loving others do serve as evidence for the existence of love given that its a name given to an action and the emotional response following said action.
Proof is reserved for mathematical demonstration of something being an absolute fact. To which I don't hold when it comes to the experiential factors of life.
But rather than telling me what isn't proof why don't you tell me what is proof of love?
He’s right a cataract is such a simple operation which l had…so not a miracle. What about cancer and even worst health problems. Makes one think, why some are born wealthy and others are starving.
You can be an atheist and a Christian at the same time. JC said some sensible stuff we should all get our heads round.
Yes when logic is out the window I guess you can be a square and circle at them same time.
@@QofyReacts Nope, I was thinking about the stuff like loving your neighbour as yourself, not passing by on the other side of the road when someone is in need, it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God - that stuff. If so-called Christians would just bend their minds to that sort of thing it would be a better world.
That's why I said atheists could be Christians, you don't need to believe in a bearded man sitting on a cloud to do what you ought to do.
React to Neffex "cold" pls ❤
Whoever Sam is, he's probably *extremely* sorry he brought that up.
Hi
if prayer actually worked, we wouldn't need hospitals.
glad you found your way out of the indoctrination
Haha it’s still an ongoing journey. Also If prayers worked as intended, Casinos would ban them
@QofyReacts lol good point.
From what i hear, you are already there, or well on your way. It's the indoctrination tricks, like fear of hell, that often keeps lingering. It's what the apologists use alllll the time to scare you into belief. funny thing, apologists..... if there was proof of Any god, there would be no need of apologists. But they spend millions on 'educating' them. gee i wonder why;)
But clearly yuu are thinking about it, the thing they hate the most, which means you'll get there, i have no doubt 👍
Good luck on your journey!
At 7:43 .... "That's amazing". No, it's not amazing. It is every day normal. There are no, and have never been, 'miracles' --- fiction.
I was being sarcastic
@@QofyReacts Oh. ok.
If you need any example of why religion is bad just cast your eyes towards the Middle East which is where most of the Bible/Koran takes place and is and has been a basket case for centuries even though they both worship the same God just through different prophets. If that is the promised land, count me out.
It leaves absolutely nothing to think about… he makes it very clear how idiotic Sam’s lack of critical thought is.
Ok
You didn’t deserve it……… the whole concept of religion puts gods failures back onto the believer lol
