nice video there. ive used that camp site twice after bikepacking from wolverhampton, i hadnt realised they had that large field that you used, i used the pitch that is right next to the compost toilet, had it to myself ! i had a lovely view out over the meadows and valley with the sun setting in the distance. @@justgetoutthereguy Hi, i would also recomend ditching the panniers, that fact that you have them implies to me that you either have too much stuff or, the stuff you have is simply too "big".... to give you an idea my total bike packing camping gear comes in at 6.1kg ( not including food, water, clothes) , i use the Wild Country Coshee 2 ( 2 man tent, but i sometimes go with a DD hammocks Tarp and a bivvy bag ) and the Alpkit Koala saddle bag, possum frame bag, fuel pod, along with the sleeping bag & sleeping matt rolled up inbetween the handle bars. heres a link to give you an idea... www.alpkit.com/bundles/bike-packing-frame-bag-bundle hope this helps.

Hi Adam, - I watched this ages ago but it's popped back up on my feed and I realised I hadn't given due thumbs - Sorted. I've been off my bike for 2 weeks as I kopped food poisoning after a dodgy curry. Had it confirmed today that I got Campylobacter, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Nasty. Hoping to follow in your footsteps once the weather turns, got all the gear ready to go. I finish work for the year tomorrow so I'm hoping I can get out a couple of times over the Christmas break. Have a great Christmas!!
Sorry to hear about the dodgy curry... Get well soon bud. Yes I think the wildcamping/ bikepacking/ hiking gangs are all preying to have many more adventures in 2021 Meanwhile Merry Christmas to yourself - And here is to a more trip productive year. 👍
Hiya, what a lovely video. I just bought a good condition mountain bike from local cycle shop, today, so I'll be doing my first bike camp soon I think!
I have just stumbled on a load of unacknowledged messages... this is one of them. I really hope you enjoyed your rides! Sorry it has taken me 6 months to reply!!!
Thanks for watching! I am afraid all I can tell you is I grabbed them off a shelf in my local Lidl store. Very cheap, but a one off deal. Just keep an eye out on promotions at both Lidl & Aldi, they often push cycling gear, & I am sure they will return! Thanks for watching - Adam 👍
As usual, i start to comment before I've seen the entire vid. Added a bit to my previous. Loved the Heinz Symphony! And the dogs! The tent shots had my heart thumping. Folk sometimes don't believe that unique, womb-like feeling that you get under small-scale canvas. You mentioned slicks re your road tyres. Have you tried Panaracers? I used them for the End to End on some pretty grotty cycleways and didn't a have a puncture over the 1000miles. They were narrow tyres BUT gripped well in all weathers AND I HAD SOME RAIN - LOTS OF IT! May your trips do for you what they always did for me. Best wishes. Paul in Burton.
Hi Graeme, it is actually a 2 man, the Coleman Cobra - I love it I like to have the extra space, find one man tents although obviously lighter, just too small and restricted. Personal preference. Thanks for watching all the best 👍
Plenty of forests, it's just land ownership! Being such a small country - restrictions are strict in a lot of the forests - so camping in them in England is not allowed - hence Wildcamping, but with the recent lockdown, more people have been going into the countryside - with no respect, leaving such a mess - forcing landowners to get even stricter... 😞 But yes, plenty of wonderful forests in the UK 👍
Good bit of filming mate. i love a bit of bike packing, all though iv'e kinda got out of the habit in the last few years. Love that campsite, i cant believe you had the place to yourself on such a great night. Gary
Thanks Gary, yes it was a cracking first Bikepacking experience. Which I shall definitely be repeating soon! Thanks for watching as ever, all the best, Adam
Enjoying your channel on my 'Firestick'. I hopped over to my PC to subscribe and wish you all the best. Your venture into Staffs bought back memories of riding from home to Dovedale and back again, in 1954. Breaking in my then new BSA cycle. (A leaving school pressie!!) Roads were less busy back then, but you still had to be careful on the main roads. .Best of luck... Retired cyclist; John in Brum. Subbed and liked.
Ah, that is so kind! Thank you John - I am originally from Guildford - My father used to tell me how he would sledge down what is now a 3 lane section of the London to Portsmouth A3! The ever increasing traffic is frightening - So I attempt to stick to quiet country lanes where possible - I am lucky here on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border - I am spoilt for choice! Thank you for taking the time to contact me - All the best John - Adam
Cheers Adam. I am way past this kind of pastime, at 81 with a few joint problems. But I have had my moments with my bike... I am not complaining, mind you; and losing weight, so I might even yet come across you on the Chase; I live quite close to it, and can see it from a viewpoint near my home. In fact I can see the Wrekin and the Black Mountains on a good day! Give the dogs some fuss from me. Take care. John .
Great effort and some nice photos with the Pixel. Never thought about going camping on a bike before but hey, why not. Always going to have a few issues with a new camera and it did OK to be fair. Cheers Alan
Hi Bryn - Thanks for watching my upload. Good question! And the answer is - yes it crossed my mind however, I took solace in the fact that I knew I was in a pretty isolated spot, and was not actually visible from any passers by, road or path - I guess anyone else would have been people on the site, and I had only spotted one family. But it is an issue, and in more visible spots, good locking devices, even considered using my camo tarp, just to make the bike not visible at all - which could be a good option! Thanks again - all the best - Adam
I really enjoyed this. It’s made me want to do the same thing, so I’ve bought a bike after watching a couple of your videos and I’m buying a tent tomorrow hopefully. Fingers crossed the time summer comes next year I’ll be good to go. Great video and keep it up.

Great video. I'm 48. Been riding further and further recently. Now want to bikepack. A bit concerned at shelling out loads of money for the stuff incase I only do it once. What sleeping bag have you got? Some of the are £100's. Thanks.
Hi Richard, yes sleeping bags were an issue for me in that initially I had a mountain warehouse bag, which wasn't cheap about £80, but I have just checked it is now available for half the price. However, it's 1.9kg and very bulky. A down bag is the way to go, much lighter and they pack really small - I purchased a Terra Hiker bag for £75, lightweight and warm (but currently unavailable, just checked) Hope this helps - good luck with Bikepacking - you will love it 👌🏻😉 Adam

Good point. Was always a concern for me too. However, I was genuinely isolated here, but alas I am fully aware there is always that risk. Have considered as well as a standard lock, but perhaps running a line of some kind attched to the bike to say your wrist! Sure would be alerted if your bike was moved! Appreciate you commenting 👍
Any lock will do. Bicycle Touring Pro actually had that as a topic for one of his videos. You really should not worry too much about that when the bike is next to your tent on an empty field.

First of all, I’m blown away by your bike setup, let alone your camera and the great angles, etc!!! I would love to do this on the C&O Canal. Great camp site. Thoughts on cutting weight on your kitchen if you’re just doing an overnight? (Smaller fuel, smaller pot, and a collapsible cup?)

Ha ha! Cheers for watching, yeh I was thinking so much about the camping, hadn't even considered what I was wearing 🙈 Yes lesson learnt, more appropriate clothing is now worn!! I am planning the great Northern trail, up to Scotland from Derbyshire, doing it in stages... planning ongoing☝️ All the best, Adam

Sorry it has taken me 6 months to reply!!!
could you tell me what panniers your using. Thanks for the vid .
Nice video .. you should replace the panniers cycle touring bags with Bikepacking bags that way you can go bikepacking off trail more
Hi, thanks for watching - early days, this set up worked fine for me, but perhaps it will develope, the more I go! All the best Adam 👍
Looking at doing some bike packing myself, what was the tent you used, it looks plenty big enough
Hi Graeme, it is actually a 2 man, the Coleman Cobra - I love it I like to have the extra space, find one man tents although obviously lighter, just too small and restricted. Personal preference. Thanks for watching all the best 👍
Very nice! What kind of tent do you have?

I've been watching UK camping videos. I'm curious, are there no forests in the UK? Everyone camps on grassy plains.
Great video only problem is Volume goes up too loud when the music is on and the really quiet when the vocals are on
Thanks for watching - sorry about audio levels... Will try to ensure they are more smooth in future. All the best Adam 👍

Take care. John .

Did you not worry about your bike at night, I wouldn’t be able to sleep knowing the bike was outside, or did you chain it up somewhere?
?

What about security for your bike? that is the only thing that concerns me.
