    Some of you have asked about why Dynadot was excluded from this comparison since I've recommended them in the past.
    *Why was Dynadot excluded?* - The reason I didn't include Dynadot this time around is because I can only include so many registrars. I have to keep a mix of "popular" options (GoDaddy, Hover, Domain.com, etc) and lesser known options like Porkbun, Dynadot, NameSilo, etc. This is the first year I included Cloudflare Domains, so Dynadot didn't get put in this time as Porkbun is such a big registrar in my day to day usage.
    *Do I still recommend them?* - I'm overall a fan of them. I like their ethics, I like what they're doing. They are straight forward and no nonsense similar to Porkbun. However, I find their management panel confusing (probably on the same level as Porkbun, just in different ways), and I feel like they've lacked improvements and innovation in recent years. They do offer great service, but their panel and experience has started to feel stale, and since they cost a bit more than Porkbun, I personally favor Porkbun for that "budget" slot.

    Thanks, your videos help. Please do a review video on boutique domain registrars with the very best customer service for rank beginners for whom money is not an issue, service is. Also, something on the most privacy-oriented domain registrars, who have very strict policies about revealing nothing to anyone without valid paperwork.

    hey Craylor - question. have you ever had scammy interactions with Namecheap? I bought a domain, was locked out of my account a week later due to security concerns, meanwhile my purchase was refunded and the domain name was bought up 30 minutes after i was locked out of my namecheap account and raised a ticket. Does this feel scammy to you? What is going on here???

    Hi Carylor, if I buy a domain from namecheap will be able to transfer the domain etc? Or is it like cloudflare where my domain will be stuck there?

    • @Craylor
      @Craylor  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can transfer your domain anywhere when you register it at Namecheap. But please note, when you register a domain anywhere, you may have to wait up to 60 days before you can transfer it between registrars.
      Also, just to clarify, you _can_ transfer your domain from Cloudflare, you just can't point it to third-party nameservers while it is held at Cloudflare and must use Cloudflare DNS until you transfer to another registrar. You can point your Namecheap domain to any nameservers.

    • @Craylor
      @Craylor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I still am a fan of Dynadot. Sometimes I switch up domain registrars in my comparisons to keep it interesting, and it was important to include Cloudflare Domains this time around.
      However, I have the same feelings about Dynadot as I do about Porkbun. Great budget option, great company. I have some domains with them.

    If I buy a domain in cloudflare .. how I conect the domain to my hosting cpanel ??? ... on namecheap I only change the nameserver to connect to the hosting ... How to do the same in cloudflare ??

    • @Craylor
      @Craylor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can’t change the nameservers in Cloudflare - you are forced to use the Cloudflare DNS management system for your domain.
      Look for the server IP address in the right sidebar of cPanel and create an “A” record in Cloudflare with the value “@“ and the IP listed in cPanel. Then, create a CNAME record with the value “www” that points to “yourdomain.com” (fill in your domain name).

    Porkbuns went up three times the amount. I looked yesterday it says $36 a year after free first year .Thanks. I'm not sure if you got it last week or last year if those prices are grandfathered in for the remainder of your time or do they go up, is that what any domain does?

    • @irnahampinloutin
      @irnahampinloutin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most registrars adjust their prices with industry fluctuations.
      Most registrars intentionally make it extremely complicated to transfer your domain name/s to a new registrar, but when you buy a domain transfer at your new registrar, it’s usually a lot less expensive than renewing at your current registrar and it includes at least 1 year of additional registration.
      Most domain registrars don’t want to lose customers so they make it nearly impossible to transfer away. For example, Network Solutions will flat out lie to you and say that it will be 24-48 hours before they can provide you with the “authorization code” (domain name transfer code). However, that’s a lie and asking for a manager will get you the code emailed right away.

    • @KevinHPhotography
      @KevinHPhotography ปีที่แล้ว

      I too want to know the answer to this. Because from what I've seen on Wix, in order to connect a domain registrar to Wix, you need a premium plan on Wix anyways, so why purchase a domain registrar at all somewhere else if you're also going to be paying for a premium plan on Wix?
