    GoDaddy is purposely participating in deceptive business practices by moving their once free email services to Microsoft 365. They failed to communicate that you either pay for Microsoft 365 or have no email accounts at all. The communication regarding this was incomplete and deceptive.

      That’s right. They also don’t explain that Microsoft exchange “Mirrors” your emails from their server therefore if they land on something like iMail, they don’t stay like they used to. Microsoft can retrieve them!!! You have to strap them down with another step. Grrrrrrrr.

    I’m currently using go daddy at the moment and built my website with them and I’m rather happy the only thing that’s annoyed me which for me is a big thing is that there store option is to basic, and I wish I knew this before I built my website with them as the store option was something I planned on adding later now I’m a floor layer which when selling products as a whole on go daddy isn’t a problem but in my line of work carpet and vinyl is the number 1 seller so after building my website with them and paying for the extras I was annoyed to find out that I can’t sell products based on dimensions so for example I can’t put units of measurement on my store so if I had a customer want to buy a 4 x 4 mtr bit of carpet go daddy isn’t advanced enough for you to be able to let customers buy products with measurements it’s the biggest killer for my business and I feel annoyed after spending a good week building my site and paying for the extras that go daddy’s shop doesn’t have a function like that really wish I looked at that side before building my website with them. However apart from that I can’t fault them and have had 0 issues with them

    I'll tell you what made me never use godaddy...Actually, 2 reasons....
    1) The original owner hunted elephants in Africa. This was all I needed to never deal with them.
    2) It was heavily rumored back in the day, that if you searched for a domain, and if it was a good one that was available, you better grab it immediately. If you don't grab it immediately, godaddy would register the domain for themselves, and then put it up for sale. Again, it was just a rumor but, it was enough to scare me away.

    This is a truthful review of GoDaddy. In my years of being a web developer, I've experienced using many Domain registrars and hosting companies and all of those were working that way it should be. But this GoDaddy, it's really sucks! Their servers are too slow, dashboard UI is really bad in terms of experience. All of those points you mentioned in this video are so true. It's unfortunate that people who are not into website design/development fall victim easily to this GoDaddy's trap. Just an honest review from my first hand experience with GoDaddy.

    Oh my God!!! I am not alone in my frustration with GoDaddy! This frustration is up to the point that i have being keeping my domains with them for three years and hosting plan but without any website on it. You could imagine the level of frustration every time I try to do something creative and build a website, etc. I also felt that about being targeted for selling me anything possible. For example, I was able to setup by myself an email using my domain through a tool in the cPanel, but they keep trying to convince me to pay for a email creation with my domain!! Something that I already have!!! Also, the email servers are very slow and gets messed frequently to the point that I have to call customer service and ask what is happening with my emails that don’ t reach my inbox at all! (They as magicians, do some clicks and tell me that “somebody” messed the configuration parameters or something!!! Making me feel guilty!!! ). Thank you for your video buddy! I will move to a different registrar and hosting in less than a week that my annual plan ends with them.

    I think the worst thing about Godaddy though is their vice-like grip on the market. I’ve known how bad they are since the first time I ever even researched web development in high school and deliberately chosen alternatives, yet I’ve had to migrate from them TWICE because they keep buying their competitors. Everyone who makes decisions at that firm can go kick rocks.

    Just found this video. been using GD for years now and it keeps getting worse. Domain fee went from $5.99 a year to $25 a year. They no longer have email and migrated my emails to outlook (for a monthly fee). Now outlook will no longer be supported by the outlook app(???) so GD just told me i had 15 days before i no longer had access to my email. The interface there is exactly as bad as you say and customer service is ok, if you call during standard business hours. Every call to them ends with me having to buy a new service and they tell me they’ll send me an email that will walk me through it. Last time it was a link to the GD wiki, yeah, thanks. This video is awesome and you just got a new sub.

    Bought domain... Got "free website builder for a month". Went to buy website plan, so went to the generic discount for new users... Bought it... The plan attached itself to another random GD domain... Chatted, called, pulled my hair out. Informed them that the paid plan attached itself to the wrong website. Nope. Because I was already using the "free trial" I was no longer a new customer, so the ONLY option was for them to refund the discounted website plan and I buy the non-discounted renewal for the site I'd put so much work into. Took AGES to sort out, and absolutely no understanding/discount/anything offered as goodwill. Will be binning them off after this year.

Hours wasted trying to get my problem solved with her running me around throwing anything and everything at me but what my concern was. She was trying to have me install things I would need to qualify for. which I didnt qualify for, I confronted her and said every time I get you, you try to make me download everything but addressing what I am asking about. She was feeling cute because she waited then got smart with me and shut the chat. Some of the other people would help with what I was asking but you have to watch her. Its frustrating. I feel the website builder is actually pretty good for a beginner, although the blog feature does leave some features to be desired(as mentioned in one of your other vids). Mine is a personal site where I blog about various projects. After watching this; however, I am convinced that there are better options. It's probably time to start looking for a way to migrate. They don't make it easy to leave, as the services are billed at different times along with a complex labyrinth of circular clicks to navigate. A step by step method and some recommendations would be very helpful. Thanks again!

    I'm sorry, but a huge factor was wrongly represented, especially considering the target audience. Programmers purchasing a domain, including myself, comprehend the usage their domain will supply. As such, when contacting CS, explaining the problem correctly can be resolved in an instant. 24/7 support is rare without considering quick response time. Furthermore, as you mentioned, as they are trained in sales, errors in transactions, payments, purchases are dealt with right away. This was really overlooked.

I'm curious if anyone knows, I bought hosting with them thru 2025. If I want to switch, will they prorate and credit my account, or is that either a sunk cost or I stick with them type of situation?
    I absolutely have had the experience you mentioned with their customer service. I am a people person, I have to do a lot of research to learn even the basic tech pieces, and they have totally played into the relationship building and sales piece when I've called their customer service. The vibe gets very different when I don't want to buy and just want to speak to customer service for actual support.

They show you the monthly cost and charge you for 12/mo up front. Ever hear "for less than the price of a coffee a day", that's the exact same thing in different words. They're trying to show you how "cheap it really is" by showing you the break down cost.

I work as tech for a company and I made three website and two hr platforms and they are all on 3 different web hosting services due to how they won't up the file limit and I feel like my file limit goes up by 300 just from making one folder .

    1 thing godaddy have worked out perfect is the integration with Microsoft for domain add.
    It auto validates and creates records directly from Microsoft tenant.
    Today i looked to activate DNSSEC on a godaddy account. For that you need premium dns, a feature that they additionally charge almost 36$ per domain.
    Other dns providers its simply free and 1 button to enable.

So first question where can i migrate to to self manage and host these sites. Second question . Cloudflare has my interest but I don’t appreciate the added charges for image storage so I’d like to move this single google site to the same location my other sites will be . .. will this be complicated ?

    GoDaddy isn't terrible, just pricey as fudge when comparing. The whole SSL thing sucks. But seems their plans have changed to include SSL certificates. Also I like the cPanel.

    • @themangospy8288
      @themangospy8288 ปีที่แล้ว

      But cPanel isn't a GoDaddy product. cPanel allows hosting agencies like GoDaddy to set up automated services, so why don't they? Why do they have their customers go to cPanel and set up things manually? Unless, of course, you pay tons extra, which doesn't make sense for most small websites or companies. Yet, other hosting platforms have it set up so you don't have to be redirected to cPanel, and setup is at a click of a button from the hosting platform's own dashboard.

    9:28 in most cases it is indeed the customer that has broken their website and not due to a faulty server configuration. keep in mind their shared hosting servers have many websites on them so if there was a server misconfiguration they would be flooded with calls.

  • @harrisSS14
    @harrisSS14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great insight. I was looking on how to rest whm login from Godaddy and this video popped up. I’ve been with them for years the VPS servers are pretty reliable but I updated it and now I’m locked out of the root. Customer service is horrible. I wait and wait in the chat and I call then get disconnected. I thought Hostgator was bad when I had it.
    Forgot about the email relay servers I’m always marked as spam or listed on the dark web from them. They use shared email relays so you are mixed in with other bad actors. Same goes with shared hosting.
    The customer service is the worst trying to get someone to help be prepared for long wait time or getting disconnected.
    I do agree about the UI I go in there and am searching for like 15 minutes to find something to do for one second task. You do get dizzy on the backend even for an experienced user.

  • @PostalUnlimited
    @PostalUnlimited 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’m surprised you didn’t touch on their customer service first. They’re the worse. It’s the same tone over and over, bratty, and full of ego. They rather challenge you than help you. At the end of the call they’re selling you something at “discount” but it’s definitely not discounted. It’s quite sad.

    I just want to lock down a name and slowly learn how to make and run a website? I don't need to spend $600 on the name and then immediately get into an annual or monthly ongoing bill. Obviously you have to renew the name every year, I assume. Any suggestions? Should I at least buy the name and then figure out hosting? This is all new to me and I probably would've went the GoDaddy route before watching this video.

    • @Craylor
      @Craylor  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you are really attached to the name and would be upset if someone else registered it, it’s worth squatting. You are going to have to renew it annually, though. There’s no way around that.
      For cost reasons, you could go with Porkbun. $10/year for a .com domain. When you’re ready for hosting, I would recommend Hostinger or DreamHost.

Yesterday, there was a known issues with Managed WP keeping it from loading. Well, almost 36 hours later, nothing and the same issues. The rep I spoke today was clueless and claimed I never called in yesterday, though I did 5 or 6 times with the calls lasting almost 30 minutes each, phone records plus survey prove I called in.
