I've been playing Marvel Champions since it first came out and here's a rule I just recently realized I was getting wrong since day one. Hero "Actions" can only be done in the Hero phase, you can only do "Responses" and "Interrupts" in the Villain phase. This means you can NOT do Captain America's Hero Action: "I can do this all day!" in the Villain phase. You can exhaust in the Villain phase to defend and then use it on your Hero Turn to stand up again, but NOT during the Villain phase. I can't tell you how many times I was using it in the Villain phase to defend, ready and then defend again for another player. 😳 Enjoy your work, keep making these great videos!
Thanks and a really good point! It took me a while to catch the hero/alter ego actions. Response and Interrupts can be triggered in any phase as long as the triggering condition is met! So like energy barrier can be triggered in either phase whenever you would take damage. Thanks for the comment!

You can be the player, but ONLY if the interpretation of you as the identity card would not make sense i.e. when x happens you draw a card. Spider Man can't literally draw a card, so you the player does. But in all other circumstances you is the identity.

Sorry, but I don't get it why Sneak Attack should not trigger the effect of White Tiger. I see, that White Tiger need to be played from your hand to trigger her drawing effect. But Sneak attack actually says that you put "that ally into play" which is "in your hand" (the cost before the arrow). So you need to play "that ally" directly from your hand. You only don't need to pay the cost of 3 resources with the effect of sneak attack and you need to discard that ally at the end of the phase. Does only the actions of other cards, which say you put a card from your hand into play, stop the trigger effects from "play from your hand"?
This is probably my biggest gripe with the wording in Marvel champions. Playing a card is different than “putting a card into play” I think it’s super confusing but that’s why you see card that trigger on “entering play” vs “being played” hopefully that made sense!

If I am playing against Absorbing Man and the environment says "After Absorbing Man makes an undefended attack against YOU...", does chump blocking count as a "defended attack" or is the attack no longer against "me" and thus still not triggering the environment's forced response? Likewise if Absorbing Man is stunned, does his "undefended attack" ability still trigger or is it dead because he can't actually attack? I love this game, but man it's confusing sometimes! Thanks for these videos!
Great question! When an ally “chump blocks” they are considered a defender and the attack is considered defended which would not trigger the forced response. The stun (or confuse) Card canceled the entire activation and therefore would not trigger any responses to it!
@@NelsonAllOverCards thanks Nelson. Your explanation of "you", "defender/defense/defend" and "response/interupt" are super helpful, especially in that scenario. I tried Captain America with protection solo last night. I always thought protection and solo did not go together but now I have a completely different opinion. It's a blast with all the response actions!
So in case Peter Parker just generates a Mind resource without exhausting: does that mean that I can use this resource generation every time I play a suitable card?
hello good sir, i have a question about "timing" interrupts and triggered effects, does marvel champions use the "stack" like MtG? (meaning that u have to resolve the last action/card/effect before resolving the previous ones)
They cannot, I think it’s worded a bit weird on some of the cards, but in the rulebook it states that when a guard minion is engaged with a player that player cannot use cards that control to attack the villain
Yep! So when we talk about the new defense rules we are referencing the rules update 1.4. “New” is not the best descriptor as this is about a year old or so. Before that update you were only considered a defender if you used your defense value to defend. After that ruling if you play a card that has the “defense” descriptor you can also be considered the defender that way. Hope that helps a bit!
It does! I’m not sure if I misspoke, but Nick is when he enters play - that can be from him being played or put into play. Either of those options trigger his response. Hope that makes sense
Yep! The generation of the resource is something that you can trigger! Since it doesn’t have any qualifying conditions you don’t need to do anything (like exhaust him)
Then again, if Spider-Man choose one of his Ally to defend , Spidey still gets to draw te card because it is him controlling that Ally which is defending right?
Kind of! The ability triggers off the villain initiating the attack, so if the villain starts the attack on Spider-Man then you draw the card, after that step is when you choose defenders where Spider-Man can choose an ally to defend However if Spider-Man uses and ally (or himself) to block for another hero at the table, the timing window has passed and no card draw Hopefully that helps!

@@tuckleberryfinn5271 nice! I love protection so this makes me very happy to hear!!
thanks
Anytime!
is the keyword "ACTION" needs to be done or optional?
So in case Peter Parker just generates a Mind resource without exhausting: does that mean that I can use this resource generation every time I play a suitable card?
Unfortunately no, since it sates that it can only be used once per round
hello good sir, i have a question about "timing" interrupts and triggered effects, does marvel champions use the "stack" like MtG? (meaning that u have to resolve the last action/card/effect before resolving the previous ones)
Marvel Champions rules! #marvelchampions #marvelchampionslcg #boardgames
If a minion engaged with me has the "Guard" keyword, can my allies still attack the villain?
They cannot, I think it’s worded a bit weird on some of the cards, but in the rulebook it states that when a guard minion is engaged with a player that player cannot use cards that control to attack the villain
LOTR LCG Player: *Sees* “Revealed, put into play, play from hand”
LOTR LCG Player: We meet again…😤
Hahaha yupp!
i didn't quite get the "new" defense. I just have the core set. Can someone explain it to me, please?
@@NelsonAllOverCards yess, it was a bit confusing in the video or i was too tired to get it lol. Thanks!
Wait, so playing Nick fury with resources doesn’t trigger his ability??
It does! I’m not sure if I misspoke, but Nick is when he enters play - that can be from him being played or put into play. Either of those options trigger his response.
Hope that makes sense
Thanks for the good explination! As a new player these are gr8 tips. Ill be sure to try and not make these mistakes 😅
Can Peter Parker generate a recourse while he is already exhausted?
Yep! The generation of the resource is something that you can trigger! Since it doesn’t have any qualifying conditions you don’t need to do anything (like exhaust him)
It doesn't help that FFG seem to barely know their own ruleset and have incredibly sloppy QA...
Then again, if Spider-Man choose one of his Ally to defend , Spidey still gets to draw te card because it is him controlling that Ally which is defending right?
Kind of! The ability triggers off the villain initiating the attack, so if the villain starts the attack on Spider-Man then you draw the card, after that step is when you choose defenders where Spider-Man can choose an ally to defend
However if Spider-Man uses and ally (or himself) to block for another hero at the table, the timing window has passed and no card draw
Hopefully that helps!
I like these videos I just wish when you did your playthrough games you would stop going so fast or maybe do more beginner videos where you go a bit slower and explain what your doing a bit more thoroughly 🤷♂️
Also when you use your customer counters and tokens etc it can be really confusing as a beginner as we have no idea what your doing and would be much better if you used the same stuff that we get in the core set box , admits easier to follow along
I totally agree and that is something I am actively trying to improve! I tend to get very excited and go fast haha
I think I do a bit better in my recorded videos which are the two handed plays: th-cam.com/play/PLpJYqGdI1C8iDolX8YyleQichVc5uW6Rx.html They are far from perfect, but hopefully they are a bit better!
I didnt think about the counters being confusing sorry about that! I love the custom counters, and dont see myself moving away from them, but I will try and do a better job of callign out what each one of them are!
Thanks for the comment!
