  • This past weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to appear in the final segment of the amazing SUPER SATURDAY SOFUBI SHOW. I've re-edited my segment a bit, since I was rushed for time when I initially had to put it together, so even if you saw it live, definitely check out the new and improved SPECIAL EDITION 😊
In it, I discuss how I became a soft vinyl toy collector in Japan, among some other fun facts, showcase an unaired segment of an interview I did with Marusan Toys President, Eiji Kaminaga, and then finally - take you on a virtual tour of the sofubi paradise known as Mandarake's Cocoo!
You can also watch the entire 12 hour event here: kyju.tv

Glad I found this channel. I have been interested in Sofubi for a while but just started purchasing them less than a year ago. I'm very picky about the ones I like, such as Devilman, Mazinger, Tiger Mask, Masked Rider. Although it's nice to be able to order them from Mandrake online shop, they are pretty costly. Hopefully I get a chance in the near future to visit japan to check out the various shops.

Just started getting into sofubi the last few months and this video was really helpful and educational. Thank you for doing this!
Also that Sunguts Megalodon at 24:50 made my jaw drop. Such a big beauty.

Just found your channel via Toy Polloi. I lived in Japan for a number of years and have been to Nakano Broadway a few times myself, so this was cool to see. I wasn't really interested in sofubi when I was in Japan (I was and still am more of a Star Wars fan), but recently I've started really coming around to the sofubi aesthetic. Anyway, I look forward to seeing more from you.

Your glasses are very cool, but I think it's better when we can see your eyes

I started wearing them to hide the bags under my eyes when I hadn’t had much sleep or was doing late night recordings, but people seemed to like them, so became part of the TTB character. I do still occasionally show my beautiful baby blues ;)

I messaged you a few days ago to complement you on using a Cryptopsy track on an Instagram vid, I know I'm late to the party but just watched this video and seen you were in Detritum! You were cool already but now....a hero 😂. Have you got a link for a track you were singing on?

    • @TOKYOTOYBANZAI

Haha, thanks Toby! Unfortunately the vocalist that replaced me after I moved back to the USA for a couple years, scrubbed all the live and studio audio with me on vocals... still urks me to this day. I do have most of the tracks I recorded with them, but all on iTunes... but I use a new computer now, so if I update my iTunes, they will dissapear from my iPhone 😭 The final track I recorded with them was floating around elswhere online, and so were physical copies of our first 2005 demo. Just try googling Detritum demo 2005 or the song Final Masterpiece, which was indeed the final song I recorded with them. I did start another band after I left Detritum, called NUTRITION: nutrition.bandcamp.com/album/terminus-occultus

Hiya! This is a great video for a fellow Kaiju collector. I mainly collect random Ultra Kaiju and Godzilla with every trip to Japan. I am craving some sofubi pieces other than the Bandai releases after my last trip to Nakano Broadway. Would you be able to recommend some of the cheaper/starter friendly makers or groups. I am seeing some absolutely amazing things but dropping almost 300 on just one figure is a bit daunting.

Modern Bullmark stuff is relatively cheap and easy to get. But they sell via a Cash on Delivery system only in Japan. Just hit me up on Instagram or Facecbook and I can usually help (and often post massive sofubi sales)

I do collect Bandai Ultra Hero Series but the main gripe i have about collecting Vinyl figures is that its really a hit and miss to get figures that can stand well and not have "crooked" limbs. I end up buying a few to try my luck sometimes. I end up throwing away those that really cannot stand.

Have you tried correcting the leg position using hot water or a hair dryer? Soften them up with either of those, then hold the leg/foot in the desired position and then dunk it into some cool water. Should correct the shape.
