As someone that has attempted suicide numerous times before (worried my family a lot and lost tons of friends because of it) while dealing with major depression for years, this infuriates me. Suicide is nothing to joke or scoff at. If someone is struggling with depression, please be sure to support them.
I lost my step dad to suicide a few years ago and it feels like it was yesterday a lot of times. It can still be so raw and fresh. It makes you want to believe that somehow they'll walk through the door and say "I just had amnesia, I was lost and alone and then remembered where I lived" and somehow some way, it would make sense. This is like a caveman tried to understand that and failed miserably. It's sad that they would take one of the few groups of people that would fall for this and make them think that this person did that. My suicidal brother told me about this issue and told me that when he was reading the comments, the love and support people showed before they realized it was a prank was something he hadn’t noticed could happen and we were able to get him to finally go into therapy because of it. As someone that has attempted suicide numerous times before (worried my family a lot and lost tons of friends because of it) while dealing with major depression for years, this infuriates me. Suicide is nothing to joke or scoff at. If someone is struggling with depression, please be sure to support them.
I lost my step dad to suicide a few years ago and it feels like it was yesterday a lot of times. It can still be so raw and fresh. It makes you want to believe that somehow they'll walk through the door and say "I just had amnesia, I was lost and alone and then remembered where I lived" and somehow some way, it would make sense. This is like a caveman tried to understand that and failed miserably. It's sad that they would take one of the few groups of people that would fall for this and make them think that this person did that. The effort is so ridiculously low, however, that Charlie had me laughing my ass off

I think there is a huge difference between making a joke about suicide, and faking your own suicide as a 'joke'. Even if you make a really bad and unfunny joke about suicide, at least people don't think you're actually dead.

I don't like suicide, I can accept a good suicide joke. But this is a prank and holy shit is it bad. Like I laughed but at how absurd it was and how dumb they are.

as someone who recently lost a good friend of mine it makes me so angry to see them lazily acting like they actually care to try to find him and see if he’s okay and alive. it feels like mockery to ppl who have actually been in that situation. when i heard news that my friend was dead i wished it was a prank, and since not much information was released yet no one knew if she was alive or dead. i fully believed she was alive and just in the hospital. the day i heard about it i thought it was a cruel joke her friends made and for the past couple of days before we got her status i searched everywhere calling everyone hoping they will say she’s alive. i realized later on though the reason why my message never went through to her was because her phone was destroyed in the accident. seeing them making this kind of thing a prank compared to actual ppl who have lost loved ones is disgusting especially when they make a joke out of it. i wanted the whole thing to be a terrible joke so bad cuz even then i can still imagine her joking about it becuz that was the kind of person she was.
