Quadzilla LT500s attack Utah's Little Sahara State Park's Sand Mountain Monster Dune!

  • I know, I know. I finally had a chance to sit and edit. Yea yea yea....
    A cool damp September day spent ripping around Little Sahara State Park's Sand Mountain in Utah. After a rain soaked night, multiple technical difficulties we managed to get about 40 miles in before we had to pull up the tent stakes and head to Coral Pink. I'll have video from that portion of the trip posted sometime in the next 6 months :)
    This is my first time using the GoPro telemetry info. It's pretty interesting stuff and I think it made for a neat addition to the video. It definitely allowed us to see the change in elevation as well as how fast we are actually going vs how fast you think you are going. At least as accurate as the GoPro's GPS is.
    So is it 700ft tall like they claim? I think it most definitely is, but you won't find a 700ft straight up hill climb situation. That said it is still a long haul up the face of it!

    Utah has a lot of great places to ride. If you go around the back side of the mountain there are a lot of trails. You should also try Coral Pink Sand Dunes, which is further south. It has some big dunes too but is more scenic. It also has better camping accommodations.

    • @QuadGuyCy
      @QuadGuyCy  ปีที่แล้ว

      They really do! We’ve talked about bringing some dirt tires some time but our inner sand addicts keep saying no! I’ve been to Coral Pink twice. My next video will be content from there actually. It’s a really beautiful place but imho one of the most dangerous dune fields I’ve ridden. In one of my older videos there’s footage of a friend of mine who almost rode his last ride there.

    How are those elkas up front?

    • @QuadGuyCy
      @QuadGuyCy  ปีที่แล้ว

      For the price they are hard to beat imho. 22 years ago the Elka Legacy series was their high end stage 3 shock. I bought a set back then for my 400ex. They were about $3500 back then. That set has been rebuilt 4 times. On the Zilla they are definitely an improvement on the front end, the stock Zilla rear shock is a decent shock. If you have one that’s nice enough to be rebuilt, have it sprung for your weight they work well but the cost maybe almost the same as just purchasing a new Elka Legacy rear.

      Any quad with paddles can climb most of the stuff and bowl all the bowls. The trails to the left go all the way to the backside. The trails on top are great and drop over to the backside in a spot or two or you just take the long way around which is better so you will see a lot more riding.
