Absolutely love this. Have a new grandchild due the end of September 2023. Crocheting a shawl at mo. This is next. Thanks Kay and Kreative Kiwi. Could watch the tutorials all day -x-
This is beautiful! I don't have a baby to sew for currently, but I will use the filler and blank blocks with other designs. The scallops make it extra special. Thank you for another wonderful inspiration!
Wow Just beautiful. I don't have a favourite they are all just gorgeous. I have just started the baby quilt. Also I too am using the scuba fabric in white. The first 2 stitched out beautiful then the others started to stretch. I then used thin double sided tape to hold the fabric in place. They do look lovely. I am so pleased with them. Thank You xx
When you place your scuba fabric over your batting, stretch it slightly, doesnt have to be a lot but doing so seems to stops it from stretchnig further and from forming a crease in your panel, thats what I found using scuba. What you dont want is a crease forming as you cant get rid of it afterwards. I hope this helps. Happy stitching.
Thank you so much for the video. I just got this design recently and was a bit scared. Now I'm not! And your company was kind enough to alert me of the video via email! What great customer service!!!!
Thank you so much Kaye for the very informative video. Recently purchased design for a line manager who had to finish work 6 weeks earlier than intended (before maternity leave) due to doctors advice. Appreciate the reference to Scuba fabric. I haven't heard of Scuba fabric before. I will definitely be following up. If ONLY it came together as quick as your video lol. Thanks heaps :)
You're welcome Barbara, It can be done from start to finish over two days depending on your machine. As I stitched all my blocks out I was basted them together by hand as they came off my machine. So as soon as I had a row basted together I stitched them up. When the next row was all stitched I basted and stitched both rows together to so much of it is made as the blocks are being stitched out on your embroidery machine. I filmed the video the following day so it really doesnt take long. Happy stitching.
❤ Excellent tutorial as always. Thank you for showing how to put the quilt together. It’s always helpful to see the procedure again. I love the tiger and the giraffe!
Love doing the block but i dont have a 5x5 hoop or in my ez design so had to work it out my self next time ill go bigger and try that but lovely work xxxx
I am pleased that you enjoyed it Katie, thanks for watching. I am in the same position with this quilt with nobody to gift it to lol, it certainly makes for a really gorgeous gift. Happy stitching. 😊
I'm loving this and about to order my fabrics. Going with your recommendations. Just not sure how much of each I need. Great grandson due tomorrow. I intend putting his details on one of the squares. These tutorials are inspirational and I've followed loads. 😊
I LOVE this quilt! Almost finished stitching out my border then on to assembly. QUESTION: I thought I would need to do stitch in the ditch to hold layers together? Did you find this not to be needed?
Hi, I didn't find it necessary with mine. I just fixed my batting layer in with the front and back fabrics. It doesn't move as it is secured all around the edge. I hope this helps.
Was also wondering about that......I think I would top stitch along all the seams between the blocks to give it a more "quilted" look.....not sure, have to make one to see how it turns out. I love the pattern..
@@carolinejameson3038 Why not make it and then decide what you would like to do, I think a lot will depend on the size you make. You could stitch in the ditch or just trace the border stitching, or a more traditional way would be to tie it at each intersection. I think if you do anything other than that you would loose the benefit of the nice clean trapunto look. It is purely personal choice really.
Fabulous video and such a beautiful design. I’ve just finished mine, which is the first quilt I’ve ever done. Absolutely thrilled with the result. Thank you.
Have you found any other of your designs to fit into each space for each block for different themed quilts? Example such as flowers, birds, boys or girls themes? TY
Look at Kreative Kiwi's redwork designs, many will fit but it depends on what size blocks you intend to make course as to which ones will fit in the centre of the blank panel.
Hi Caroline, it would all depend on what size blocks you were stitching but all the fabric calculations for each size are given in the instructions. I hope this helps you. Happy stitching.
Hi Janice Hi, I didn't find it necessary with mine. I just fixed my batting layer in with the front and back fabrics. It doesn't move as it is secured all around the edge. I hope this helps.
What needle are you using for the embroidery please as I have not embroidered on stretchy fabric. Ty the design is awesome and I can’t wait to give it a go.
Hi Bev, scuba is a 4 way knit fabric used for dress making. This is the description from where I get mine (Link provided below): 150cm wide approx, 95% polyester 5% spandex fabric. Scuba knit is a lofty double knit fabric of finely spun polyester fibers that create a super smooth handle, low luster sheen and a full-bodied drape. With four way stretch, this unique knit is perfect for creating knit dresses, structured knit apparel, form fitting apparel, skirts, pants, unconstructed jackets and heavier tops. This is where I get mine but I am not sure where you are in the world so difficult to point you in the right direction. I hope this helps. www.remnanthousefabric.co.uk/product/scuba-dress-fabric/
Yes you can do that if you like, it’s personal preference. This quilt is small so I didn’t bother as the batting is held in place perfectly well by the stitching of the backing fabric.
Hi Yvonne no Brothread is not a great thread as it shreds for a pastime I use the spools that I bought on my sewing machine instead, as they were awful to embroider with. Use Simthread it is a great thread not expensive. It's a good quality thread and available in many beautiful colours. It is what I use for everything that I embroidery and what you see in all my videos. Brothread stabilizers however are great and I have used them in all my videos for the last two years since lockdown as I couldn't get my old brand anymore. I hope this helps you.

I found the scuba fabric but it has three kinds…neoprene, double knit, and crepe Scuba knit… which one do I buy for the scalloped edge baby quilt? TIA.
This is what I buy. I think the double knit might be the closest but without a photo I can't say for sure. It should feel smooth and stretchy and feel quite heavy and flowy as it's used to make dresses. Scuba is a 4 way stretch fabric. www.remnanthousefabric.co.uk/product/scuba-dress-fabric/

That’s what I did, however it was a pain to find the right spot to change the color… any information will help in the future! Thank you for your great videos….hugs!

Thank you Bev, very kind of you.

This is so cute I had to buy it. I have a question though. do you do any top stitching to keep the front and back together?
I was wondering the same thing... at least do the stitch in the ditch between the boarder and other so at least one big square...
Hi Linn, I didn't feel that mine needed any but you could if you wanted to. Happy stitching.
Was also wondering about that......I think I would top stitch along all the seams between the blocks to give it a more "quilted" look.....not sure, have to make one to see how it turns out. I love the pattern..
I think it’s a good idea to stitch in the ditch some areas to secure the wadding for a good result when washed.

Can you not use cotton
Sure you can. I used scuba because it gives wonderful definition for the trapunto effect of this design. Happy stitching.
If you do use cotton, would 2 squares of batting in each block be preferred?

You don't stitch in the ditch to stabilize the second layer of batting? That seems like it would become a huge mess after a couple of washings.
@@VAHelix Of course you can if you wish but where the batting is sewn into the edges, on this small quilt I didn’t.
Could you tell me what the pins are called, please?
@@karenthomson9120 Hi Karen they are called T-pins. Thanks for watching. Happy stitching. 🧵
Do you need to add another layer of batting when you have batting on each quilt?
I did to make it extra puffy and warm but you don't have to if you want a thinner quilt.
