    Tried this drill with my 12U team and they loved it. Ran it for forty-five minutes non-stop and they just kept going. Laughing as they were diving for balls that were just out of reach. I wasn't expecting them to have so much fun with it but, they did. Thanks Coach!

    The lefty kid has great mechanics. I really appreciate the way he works through the ball. And the kid in the red has a good arm. As an outfield coach I love seeing the detail work for outfielders.

    why in pushup position though? outfielders wouldn't be in that position to start? is it to make them work more?

  • @lancastergerard
    @lancastergerard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just came up with this watching the video.
    Calling ‘I got it’ and priorities
    Centerfield and middle infielders call 3 times, corner OF and IF twice and pitcher catchers once.
    That way position with priority is always calling off positions below.
    Thoughts? And have you noticed 12u doesn’t need priority cause no one moves enough in the outfield to run into another player?

    • @dblankenship88
      @dblankenship88 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don’t need to have a count series depending on the players positions. If the players knows the priority system then when the player with priority calls it the rest break to cover for a improperly fielded ball.
      It’s that simple.

    • @lancastergerard
      @lancastergerard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dblankenship88 what if they call at the same time and don’t here the call off?

    • @dblankenship88
      @dblankenship88 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lancastergerard if they both don’t hear it then neither my nor your system would work and we have a serious communication problem on the field. Players need to learn and know the priority system from a young age.
      On both my club baseball and softball teams that I coach the priority system is used. If at any point both call the ball at the same time the priority player yells “move”!
      I’ve yet to have any problems.
