I love that he's just going manic during the breaks 😂. I'm a mom/coach and it's great to see the reality. Great vids!
Yeah, the part where the kid starts doing Fortnite dances while the coach is explaining is very true to life
Thank you mat I’m a senior in high school and my seven year old brother is having trouble catching the ball. I’ll definitely use these tips for him
Awesome good luck!!!
Melts my heart. Your a cool older brother! You guys are so lucky to have each other.
My oldest son was in high school when my youngest was 7 also. (keep working with him, my 7 y/o couldn't catch a ball if it was in his lap, now he is the starting catcher on his 12U team)
Much love and respect to you young man!
I find it very heartwarming to hear that you are going to put in actual effort to train with your younger brother.
This is awesome to read. The world needs more of you. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Bro, these videos are truly gold. We have been using your coaching for a year, and the progress has been unreal. It's interesting that with all of the knowledge and resources available, most parents are still depending on the coach to teach the basics. I truly appreciate you dropping the knowledge on us.
You are a great teacher/coach and now we see that you are a great Dad, as well. Patience is a virtue and you have demonstrated it to all parents watching. Thank You.
Great video as always Matt. Love how you keep things nice and simple for the kids.
Thanks for posting this - super helpful tips. I’ve been using this with my U-8 team and it’s amazing how confident they get after a few rounds of tosses.
Would love to see a hitting video for this age group as well. I try to keep it simple with a good stance and the encouragement to just swing hard.
Very good drill: simple, fun, straight to the point 👍🏻
Great video. I coach kids in this age group and am constantly looking for videos of drills and tips for them. Hopefully you will post more in the future. Thanks!
Thanks for this it’s a great drill for my son who’s 8. Love to see more and more videos for the young players on hitting, throwing. Thanks
Hey Matt thanks for the tips, will use these for my cousin who is 5
I just started working with my nephew (8). These drills are definitely working and he tells me it’s fun!
Good job Matt you are an excellent teacher. Thank you
Have a 5 year old almost 6. Just started working on drills. Safety and fun I’ve realized from your videos are important. Your son is definitely normal with ants in his pants. He seems to be enjoying putting in the work. As soon as you start the drill he’s all business. Great father son combo! Taking notes. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Matt! I am teaching my 6 year old son how to catch as we speak! This was very helpful!
Keep these vids coming. So helpful for my 5 year old son right now.
Good stuff Matt, keeping it simple for the youngsters
This is helpful. My 6 year old struggles catching with fingers up with the glove. We'll give this a try.
Love these beginner videos your doing. Im using them with my 7 yr old & making my 11 yr old do them too lol
This is so awesome thank you!!
Catching and throwing drills would be great. My daughters softball team needs it.
Great stuff, very helpful! I’d love to see a video on Youth First base drills or an intro to how to play 1B for kids.
The baseball gods have blessed you with a lefty.
This sounds like the best!
Thank you. Going to try and get my 7 year old on it based off of your instruction. It was very helpful.
Something else based off of hitting or throwing would be helpful as well.
I think I learned mainly by watching baseball in 80s as my Dad was a plumber and didn’t know much.
No problem and will do!!
Super set of drills. Thanks!
Thank you!
I am coaching and have definitely used the "give the ball a high five" to help them remember to keep their fingers up. I have seen that about half the players once a glove gets on shift the way they catch to somewhat sideways (i do this naturally too) for most balls in their wheelhouse. Would you focus on correcting this or if they're comfortable let it be and focus more on the fingers up/down for those balls above shoulders/below belt?
Great video!! Thx
Go Matty!
I see a star centerfielder and lefty nuke dropper in the making! Love the videos!
Thanks!!!!
Thanks for teaching me cus i have a baceball turniment in one day 😊
thank you
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Excellent job! and patience lol
Chipper jones swing breakdown from each side? Toe tap
Too funny, just like my kid...and the kids I coach...doing the fort nite dance...lol
Haha!!!
What type of glove your son is using? It looks very manageable.
Facility is looking good!!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Hey thanks so much!!!
Fun 2 watch.
Thanks!
Question, for a 5 year old. Should his glove be super soft or should it be firm as a older kid’s glove?
Thank you
Any tips for helping a kid be able to close his glove? Our kid has a heck of a time closing his. I made sure it fits, tried conditioning it, etc.
great stuff
Thanks!!
This video would have been great for when I was in little league
Is that glove a Mizuno Prospect?
Matt, need your help. We have a couple kids that keep dropping their elbow on their throw. Drills and suggestions please.
My daughter is just like your son. I mean exactly like your son. With the punching, falling, and everything.😂
What can i do to help my daughter from being so scared of the ball? Always tries to movenout of the way and just reach out for it instead of trying to get underneath the ball
❤

What glove does your son use?
By watching this video I realized why there are no lefty catchers. And it has nothing to do with the throws to the bases. It has to do with the plays at the plate. Since for whatever reason most players always slide to the catchers left. A right handed catcher is never reaching across his body to tag a runner out. In fact almost every throw would be a swipe tag. However a lefty will almost always be reaching across his body after the catch to tag out the runner. Or even have to back hand catch the ball more often than a righty would
Great video! Thanks!
…i hit my son in the mouth with a tee ball and it set me back like 2.5 years 😅😂
1. No glove. fingers up. tennis. ball.
2. No glove. fingers up. 3 locations.
3. Glove. fingers up. real ball.
4. Glove. fingers up. real ball. 3 locations.
5. Glove. fingers up. real ball. 3 locations. foot up.
6. Glove. fingers down. if below the waist. 3 locations.
My daughter 9 catches everything but still jumps out of the way even with a face mask on. she slide opposite of ball and will not adjust any ideas??
She does not want to do the string to bose either doesn't make sense to her
I would go very easy ball. Like a wiffle ball. I would go slow and controlled environment and just force her to do it over and over and over again until she feels comfortable
