Some good points. I was the same way as JT when I played. I like the point about working live balls in BP and about body position affecting throwing accuracy as well as working on getting more on top of the ball for a more accurate directional throw.
Another thing Ive always thought was important especially if you dont have a strong arm is charging ground balls to the OF hard and well. Not only do you get to the ball quicker but youve also shortened your throw. Runners and coaches especially in HS will see the short throw you have and how early you arrive and not run at all when they otherwise might be able to run on your weaker arm. And if they do run you have a better shot at throwing them out

Excellent video. Favorite points (not necessarily in order): 1) Perseverance can pay off. 2) Be as efficient as possible to get the ball in quickly, which is even more important when your arm isn’t a cannon. 3) Very important to make good decisions out there, like throwing to the right bag. 4) Get lots of live reads during BP. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.

I wish I could see these tips Earlier, because one day most of my team was gone then I had to be the only outfielder. (it was for like 9 and 10 year olds) most of the balls rolled on the ground. So I sometimes had to run across the field.

So in the outfield how many steps do you take after catching it and what foot do you catch it on for right handed player?
I havent found any big leaguers doing what he does at 4:20 cause it seems way to hard to full sprint into a ball, and take a backstep and already be throwing...
Also, can a righty can it on their right foot, but still on their left side? And then take one left step, a back step, then throw it? With a short arm action to make up for having one less step.

      1. For me at least it depends how far I’m throwing if I’m not throwing far I just take a step, if i’m throwing I bit farther, like if i’m throwing straight to second or third it’s just a little quick shuffle and throw.
      2. If your right handed i think you catch with you left leg in front.
      3. At 4:20 i think he was talking about if you have time to get ready for that. If your full sprinting to catch the ball you probably won’t have time to get set like that.
      4. If your a righty you should catch with your left leg so you don’t have to waste time turning around.
