I know youtube has me watching these all out of order, but honestly this is one of those podcasts where i dont really have to. Its so great to be able to chill and hear what you guys think about skating and to hear all the stories about a world and a culture i kind of had missed out on growing up in the sticks. Like you guys are bringing me back into it. Its cold as shit out right now, but im possessed to skate again. Like im enamoured by the thought of going out there and getting my heels back. You guys pump me up.
@@nofxdude89 they’re different podcasts. What I really like about this is that it’s essentially two skate mates chatting shit with a lot of great stories. The Nine Club is much more about linking their interviewees place in skating history. There’s very definitely a place for both and I really enjoy both formats and look forward to every release!
Jason, i miss you skating and seeing your humor and the ape hanger on the ramp. honestly man, anything you do on the ramp is amazing! just seeing you have fun is worth it!
I don't skateboard. I just discovered this podcast on a fluke but now have dove down the rabbit hole. But may I say I freaking love when they get into the weeds! It's just so cool to me to hear how technical everything gets and to hear true experts talk about their craft. Also it often paints a more vivid picture for me as an outsider
Tony that was the most honest and practical response to the wetsuit conversation. It's not another gimmick that's needed it's upper body strength. It's funny too that as surfers we are so critical of people using incorrect terminology.
Thank you for starting the podcast with that Sweet Hawk vs. Wolf animation than immediately welcoming us to the show!!! That’s so much better than the click-bate 5 second clip of the apex of a story. I don’t like it when you’ll do it the old way because it’s so weird and confusing to be brought in in the middle of a conversation. It is disorienting and makes no sense. Also it makes me feel like I got here late when it jumps in the middle of your conversation. So all that to say I love the way you did it today please continue to do that thanks!!! P.s. wouldn’t mind longer episodes 😁
All that stuff Tony was talking about toward the end is like listening to an test-pilot-turned-astronaut talk about his journey to the Moon riding the same piece of wood with wheels I struggle to scrape on a curb. It's actually humbling that dudes like that consider all of skateboarding the same thing. Thanks for existing, Hawk and Wolf. Jason Ellis is rapidly becoming one of my favorite people of all time.
mr. hawk. if there's ever a chance to do another "tony hawk gigantic skatepark tour" filmed the same way (maybe more buses due to families) it would be amazing! it would be great to see you guys tour the US again bring another wave of excitement to the local skate scene. thank you guys!
Please share more huckjam stories! I still remember going to the Toronto show and it was truly life changing and so inspiring and their needs to be another show like huckjam again!
I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only one that needs to take a break after I paddle out. Even if a sweet set is rolling in, I gotta say no and catch my breath for a minute. I thought it was just me.
not even going to lie jason is one of the most sound people evry i love him too bits hes soo cool lol your are a legend for sticking to your guns on that dude from the past fuck those nobodys :D
Lol Jason, I love your day to day stories! Keep your socks on when putting your suit on and you’ll slide into it like a hot knife through butter 🤙🏼 P.s plastic bag works as well
Tony's face during that nunchuck story is so funny. He's in his head like WHAT, that sounds traumatic asf man 😂 Can we get jason a set of nunchucks to show his skills please!!
Love Jason asking Tony about his shoulder! I'm a pizza maker and when I separated my shoulders skateboarding I took one day off work to get the X-ray And then straight back to making 100 plus pizza a night!
I did the classic shoulder/collar bone fall on a mini ramp but got my shoe twisted somehow and only broke my ankle. I cannot believe I haven't fucked my shoulder or collar on a stair in almost 15 years of doing them. (Stopped doing stairs after college).
Cool podcast... But their were way more combined Sk8 & BMX demo's/events before B H/Jam. Downunder we were doing it in NSW & all over Oz for Coca cola, Gatorade etc, whilst you were a grom in Vic.
I love this podcast but I can't help but give a pedantic correction 😁 The first combined BMX/Skate event was the ToL (Tower of Love) Ramp Jam in the mid-80s. The ramp was built on the grounds of Wizard publications (publishers of BMX Action and Freestyle magazines) in Torrance. Andy Jenkins was the editor of Freestyle at the time. Spike Jones may have been a staff photographer.
Tony Hawk and Jason Ellis talk about skateboarding memories and give us the low down on what was happening behind the scenes. Jason tells a story about getting old and trying to be cool. Tony tells us about breaking himself but maintaining fame status. Both guys talk about how they are amazed by Bob Burnquist and Matt Hoffman. (Did I describe it well enough?)
For those who don't know, Matt Hoffman is to BMX-Freestyle as Tony to skateboarding. He is actually more prolific then Tony. Not to take away from Tony's greatness.
Dude I live in reading uk and we had 2 parks when I was growing up but 1 was a bmx park and one was a skate park and when the bmxers came up to our park there was a huge brawl then 10 years later the scooter scene exploded over here and the bmxers and skaters started sticking together cause we couldn't stand the scooter kids who'd all stand at the top of the ramps right in the way
Someone please inform me who Jason was talking about, the guy saying the racial slurs, they keep bleeping his name out... it’s driving me nuts trying to figure it out
I see someone else saying those guys. Did you hear the podcast live or something? Because I want to tell these fools to shut up with their saying it's got Olson, and they shouldn't even speculate about people they know nothing about, especially if they can't spend the time and figure it out. I started skating in 2000, it's not like I have an edge on this one. But see, I know nothing about the other guys, except a story about a Ron Allen graphic. I won't tell them who, just that they're wrong. You seriously rip, by the way. I was gonna ask on your channel, but nah.

This and The Nine Club - the best.
Nine Club sucks!
Gotta get Ellis on the Nine Club!
Honestly prefer this over Nine Club.

Nine Club Rules!! So much info from past and present skating! Learn so much from that show!
Another amazing show. It’s a little embarrassing to admit but I listen to each episode multiple times and this one will be no exception.
I do too when I check for a new one lol
We're here for the in the weeds stuff. Always wondered whats in the mind of a mega-ramp run. This is my favorite episode so far. Keep pushing.
The skateboard behind Tony made from Hurlies is awesome! 🇮🇪
I love this show so much. No better skateboarding podcast exists
*the nine club*
@@thedude7726 ......is not as good as this.
yes please get Hoffman on the show!
Awesome podcast you guys got to get these old school Skateboarders on and interview them , this is fast becoming my favourite podcast !!

Or his suit is way to small lol
A lot of surfers ate total douchebags
Love the pod. Please get Bob, bucky, DMC, hoffman, and more of the legends now.
Thanks for going into the weeds. I am but a simple street sk8r but it's nice to hear about what goes on with all that air time.
I rlly like when u guys wear different clothes for the commercials u do it helps me when I skip ahead 😂
I love how you guys want your kids to care, it reminds me of my parents lol.

It's criminal that more folks aren't watching this.
I love the weeds on the mega ramp!

after hearing those stories from Ellis on this episode..... I love you man
Been listening almost nonstop and loving every episode so far. T Hawk Wolf Tiolet Paper for next merch drop
God I love this podcast so much
imo This is the perfect podcast to listen to after beating myself up at the skatepark over the weekend

Jason's story about the wetsuits for surfing had me cracking up!! LOL
I had heard Grosso mention the Salad days but never really understood it. Thanks for clarifying 😎👍
Simply the best. Better than all the rest.
"No one wants to play toast with you." 😆😆
Thanks guys for another great one! I'll follow y'all through the weeds any day, fwiw.
The Condor and The Birdman doing dual 900s would be so sick
I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only one that needs to take a break after I paddle out. Even if a sweet set is rolling in, I gotta say no and catch my breath for a minute. I thought it was just me.
I wish I could get out more regularly. Takes me a while to get used to the plus sized sets too.
Yeaaaaah!!!! SHOW US BMX GUYS SOME LOVE!
The first 900 Matt did (the footage was correct) wasn’t done in Norfolk, it was done in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada at a 2-Hip contest there.

Love this podcast as much as tony loves the grumpy surfer story ;)
Love this channel! I tell everyone I know about it.
Tony's face during that nunchuck story is so funny. He's in his head like WHAT, that sounds traumatic asf man 😂 Can we get jason a set of nunchucks to show his skills please!!
Hey Jason, I too had a pair of nunchucks. Mine were aluminum though. Super light and fast. Aight then!

Even though it's the end of the show!

Honorable mention: 1988. Bercy, Paris, France. BMX race, King of Vert ramp jam and skate competition featuring Tony
Title of thia episode should have been "If you're not skateboarding you're stupid"
And the first 1260 in bmx was just landed at pat Casey’s house this past xgames !
Tony Hawk, Matt Hoffman and Travis Pastrana. That's all I have to say...
dude I fuckin' love Ellis
Yes Tony! Grab your cammo suit and face paint and go deep into those weeds. Keep that shit coming. It is what we all want to hear.

What is beep it the beginning of the McGill story?
a name. they keep bleeping one name
Don't fuck care but 98% it's one of the Godoys brothers.. who ever was Knox's dad
For those who don't know, Matt Hoffman is to BMX-Freestyle as Tony to skateboarding. He is actually more prolific then Tony. Not to take away from Tony's greatness.
Jason, did you keep the matchbox cars?
I love the weeds! More weeds!
Intro is so badass
Much like the Lance Mountain story I could be completely mistaken but what footage is there of you.. Jason, doing a monkey hang?
That's the second time Tony has told that surf story on the podcast, age is killer on the memory.
We got a cool guy herel . Ps It was Still rad second time and this comment , very unnecessary.

Bob ❤️
I wanna know who they beeped out.
who can read lips?
Same, Trying to think of that time and who would have been 10 years older, That would make them almost 60 now.
Steve Alba or Steve Olsen would be that age and have sons, all I can think of right now.
@@purplereigninblood I was thinking more Duane Peters, but I don't if he was even still competing.(and they wouldn't have needed to beep it out)
Me as well
Jason Ellis Nunchuck Deck Graphic WHEN!?
Someone please inform me who Jason was talking about, the guy saying the racial slurs, they keep bleeping his name out... it’s driving me nuts trying to figure it out
I agree. Someone name names, please
My guess would be RICKY OYOLA for the bleeped out name in the story.
Just watched Alf on 9 Club & looks like you’re right on that one.
But why? Sorry I don't know the history but I'm interested now
Thank goodness, im a skate rat🤣🤙🏽
I want to know the story, and see someone skate the hurling sticks skateboard on the wall 🛹
My name is Barry and I’m a certified athletic trainer.
Who’s name is being beeped?
I was wondering the same thing...
