I bought this stone for half normal price. My first water stone; I usually sharpen with diamond hones. Very soft; be careful to use very light pressure. This stone (for me) will take some getting use to.
You are going to have much better results once you get good with a stone. Honing rods are more for straightening out the edge, but they are not going to give you a new edge. The Diamond ones do take a little material off, same with the ceramic, so they can actually sharpen. But for putting a whole new edge on you really cant beat some nice stones.
I'm interested in the shapton 8k too but I didn't see the need to buy it. I already have 3 other 8k stones from other manufacturers. The 30k is way too expensive for me. :)
Hello my friend, Small knife sharpening is successful. The whetstone you used does a good job. Sharp as a razor. Good sharpening. Thank you for sharing. See you on my channel. Greetings. cheers dude
Cerax is a little softer and king kds is a little harder. I have already tested the cerax 1000/6000 and you can find it in my video. Kds review and testing will be presented in my future video.
Quick advice please Mr Daniel, if the Kingstone has a small chip on one of the sides, do you say stick it the small piece back with epoxy/ superglue. Or do you say leave it and move on?
Shapton 1000. It's orange I do believe. Is my favorite stone by far.. I have the 320, 1000 and 5000 but the 1000 is my most used. Hard as heck too, way better than my king 1000/6000

I just got my first stone a King KDS and watching some videos before diving in! Really enjoyed your video. I'm sure I'll re-watch it a few more times.
Thank you. 🙂
Hello my friend! Your sharpening is so well thought out . Glad your doing well !
Thanks 👍
Thank you for the video I learned a lot about the stone. I got mine for free from a community group on Facebook ❤️👍

Thank you for watching. Learning is on you. 🙂
I've had this stone for a few years now and it is quite good. I'm interested in trying the shapton 8000, and the 30000 next.
I'm interested in the shapton 8k too but I didn't see the need to buy it. I already have 3 other 8k stones from other manufacturers. The 30k is way too expensive for me. :)
I'm in same boat! That 30k would be neat to try tho. @@DanielWorkshop
Yes it would be. :)
Keep the good job Daniel!
Thank you Andrei. 🙂
I have that exact stone. The 6000 does need a nagura stone to clean it. Good for the price.
Very nice Daniel. This is my first time finding you. Thank you for the video
Thanks for watching!

@@DanielWorkshop You're welcome. See you. greetings.
Hello. I want to combination whetstone. But I can't decided which one cerax 1000/6000 or king kds 1000/6000
Cerax is a little softer and king kds is a little harder. I have already tested the cerax 1000/6000 and you can find it in my video. Kds review and testing will be presented in my future video.
I just bought this stone. It arrives in 2 days. $30. Can't wait.
Could I use a DMT stone to flatten and clean this King stone?
Good for you.
Yes you can.
Was this knife super dull? It seems like you had to put in a lot of work to ge it sharp on the 1000 grit.
I don't remember but I think it was very dull.
Quick advice please Mr Daniel, if the Kingstone has a small chip on one of the sides, do you say stick it the small piece back with epoxy/ superglue.
Or do you say leave it and move on?
If it is small I would leave it as it is. I have some chips on my stones and I don't mind them at all.
Crazy freehand stuff at 17:00. How do you keep the angle so consistent? I would ruin the edge for sure
With practice. 🙂
Thank you for the tutorial! Have a nice day!
You're welcome.
It is important to clean the 6000 side? Is my first stone and I don't have a secondary stone for cleaning as you do
Yes. It would be better to keep it clean.
Great video thank you, can you recommend a 800 or 1000 grit splash and go stone for home use? Cheers.
Thank you Jamie.
Naniwa lobster 1000 and the traditional 1000 are good stones and not very price.
My favorite is the shapton professional 1000. :)

I got a king stone few weeks ago and the finish is literally mirror
Yes, it gives a beautiful finish.
Is there any King stone splash and go?
There are some. I have an 8k and a 6k that are splash and go. I think that the deluxe version is splash and go too, but i never tested it.
If the king stones are good enough for Murray carter, they’re good enough for me
Good for you.
Hello, can you tell me which stones it will be best for Miyabi 6000MCT 16cm and 9 cm? Thank you very much 🙏
Hello. I can't tell you what to use but I can tell you what I like. 🙂 I like a lot shapton stones.
@@DanielWorkshop Hello Daniel, thank you very much for your answer and what kind of model Shapton?
For sharpening I use the 1000 kuromaku and for polishing the 5000.
@@DanielWorkshop Thank you very much ☺️
i have the king kds 1k/6k, is it a higher quality stone?
I have tested in the meantime kds too and I agree with you, it is better than this one.
Great job keep up the good 👍
Thank you.
what is grit stone number for knife slaughter?
Very Nice Daniel , I want to make the wood Holder that Holds the whetstone ..
Thank you. 🙂
Good Sharpening, 👌
Thank you.
Is this stone radioactive?
Why do you ask?
@@DanielWorkshop amazon reviews said so
I don't have a Geiger counter to test it. 😁
@@DanielWorkshop if you get one please test this one and the other wet stones you have. This video would be a banger
Sure. Geiger counters are very cheap and I can find tons of them laying around. 😂😂😂
11:10 the reflections are a perfect question mark lol
This stone is so slow. Haha.
Yes it is.
thank you vely vely vely vely vely vely vely much
You are welcome. 🙂
