Way back in the day ( 1985/86ish) the cheapest .22LR ammo we could get down at my small town's only Hardware store was Federal Lightnings . If memory serves , they were .95 cents per box of 50 . I had a Remington 581 with a nice Weaver scope . ( back when Weaver was one of the top USA made scopes ) , and it loved those cheap Fed Lightnings ! close to 1/2 inch groups at 50 yrds ! My Papaw fronted me the money , and we went down there and bought five bricks of those with same lot # . No Squirrel , Rabbit or Ground Hog was safe on our farm for many a moons after that ! I learned that price does not equal performance in every situation .
Yup, some guns just respond to certain brands, and good shooters will just roll with it instead of being unhappy with a pricier brand that doesn't shoot as well...
At 1235fps, it seems to me to be the same as Minimag but without the copper wash! Used it for over 10 years and it has always been reliable and accurate for me!
Went out shooting some 22lr rifles this past weekend. I have a CZ 455 Trainer, Tikka T1X, and a Bergara B14R. I left the CZ home but that is coming out this next weekend. I have never tried expensive/match ammo before. Feeling rich for some reason, I bought a box of Lapua Center X, SK Flatnose Match and SK Match. I also took out some of my bulk ammo such as American Eagle, Aguila Super Extra, Remington Golden Bullet, Winchester Super X Power Point, and a box of CCI Blazer. To my surprise, the CCI Blazer shot just as good as the match ammo out of the Bergara. Almost as good in the Tikka, but had a flier or two in the groups. I will definitely practice with the Blazer whenever possible.
An old gun shop and range owner I knew told me any autoloader they couldn't get to feed with any thing would always work with Blazer. I've can also attest to that so I always buy Blazer when I can find it.
I have never bought any Blazer when it was available I just got mini mags but I would definitely try it, Also I can’t fathom not cleaning my guns especially my.22s although I did go several months without cleaning my 15-22 I tore it down last and gave it a good cleaning
Even "Good" .22lr can vary between batches, more in the past than now. Competition shooters went to the dealer, bought 50 from different batches, shoot it in fixed position. When they found the batch with the most consistently grouping. They bought at least 5000. But if they changed their gun, either from a new maker or just a new gun of the same model, they had to start again. The last 30 years the quality in manufacturing has increased very well, but guns would often has preferences. Yeah my old 80s marlin bolt 22 gets about 1 inch groups at 100yds with the Blazers. Believe it or not they are my choice groundhog round for 22. I've never had any issues out of them in anything I've shot them from. Would love to see a gel test with the Blazers because they seem to dump a lot of energy on groundhogs!
Now I’m not claiming to be varmint killing expert but is it really a good idea to use a round nose projectile when 22 hollow points are just as cheap as the round nose ammo? Even the premium stuff like stingers or velocitors aren’t much more than ten bucks so I’m curious to know your philosophy behind that choice
I bought 3000 rounds of this when Dick's got out of firearms, at about 3.7 cents a round. I have had good luck, and decent accuracy with it, it is just a little dirty, but functions well.
That's some fining grouping there with the CZ. I used Blazers in my 15-22 while i had it, must have put circa 5000 rounds through it and never had a hiccup. Same goes for my Tippmann M4-22, it's had around 1500 rounds down the barrel without a glitch. That's good enough for me and the accuracy and consistency is okay too. Keep the vids rolling WTW. 👍
I used to buy the same 500 round brick it was only 18 dollars back then for those blazers good bullets i bought dozens of them and probably only ever had 1 or 2 duds
Blazer in 22 I never had a problem. But In larger calibers blazer brass had never done me wrong but the aluminum cases stuff in my 45 gave me problems.
With my takedown it gets me around 1.25” at 50 yards, Tac-22 gets me .48” , I have tested 13 other loads as well but they all fall behind tac-22 for my setup. I really want to try some SK and Eley though!
I just watched a video testing velocity of at least half dozen brands of 22s. Also showed grouping at 25 yards. Blazer in red milk carton pkg shot the best group.
Cool. I’ve never seen blazer .22lr. But the 9mm and 40 run real well out of all my guns. But it’s not to cheap anymore. It’s more expensive in those calibers now than most cheap ammo.
Bought a couple cases of Blazer years ago. Great accuracy but as a RN, not for hunting. Modified some to HP with my Waltz die. Now accurate and deadly on gophers. My Anschutz 1710 DKL digests them just fine.
I haven't gotten as tight groups as I'd like using my lefty savage mark 2, I initially thought it was the ammo but its probably the $40 amazon scope or me lol. Hoping to go out this Sunday to use my buddy's vise to test what groups we're actually getting at 100 yards. Other than that I was pretty impressed with the CCI blazer's performance, over 300 rounds in and not a single dud. I'll probably conserve it and save it for Wabbit hunting
Well now that was a interesting video and I never did think there was anything wrong with the blaser ammo I've shot a lot of it and it has always worked good for me. Around here you can't be too picky it's still hard to find 22LR I would even settle for the Remington Thunderbolts in 22LR.
I plan on buying a 500 brick soon for my Rossi, otherwise in other .22 guns I have had the same results with CCI standard velocity as I have with Remington Thunderbolts...only Federal ammo gives me problems occasionally.
I shot some Blazer 22lr recently as well, very surprised how accurate it is despite not label as standard velocity, it almost matches my Eley Target which I shoot 1-moa at 100 meters.
Very good stuff. My Marlin XT-22 Varmint loves it. In that rifle, it shot better than CCI mini-mag and standard. It was my favorite ammo until I started using Eley Match.
Blazer shots very well out of my Sako Finnfire II. They recently came out with a new bullet design and I was worried as to how the new ammo will shot from my rifle. I went to the range on Sunday to zero my rifle and at 25 yards all five went thru the same hole. This weekend I will be shooting them at 100 yards and see how they shot. I now have three bricks of Blazer ammo for my rifle.
I have 3 10/22s and only one like them, but it really likes them. Have yet to find any ammo that will shoot better in that one 10/22 and that one will out shoot the other two all day long.✌✌
I have a huge pickle jar full of this ammo i traded a guy for an old Mosin wood stock i had laying around a few years back. I also have that same S&W compact pistol. I added an aftermarket barrel bushing to it and it eats everything I feed it. Only time it malfunctions is if it's a dud or something similar.
Those Blazers look like their lead bullet sub sonic ammo. Works great in my revolver and bolt actions. I haven’t found any sub sonic lead bullet .22 ammo that cycles worth a darn in my 10-22, my Mark..lV or my Glock. I thought at first I wasn’t cleaning them often enough but full tear down cleaning didn’t help. After I’ve run 25 -35 rounds through any of the firearms I start having problems. I only use 1200fps (minimum) and copper jacket in the semis. I know not everyone has this issue but I do know enough people who do to know it’s a problem. Good vid, and it is good ammo for me in my non semis.
I have used this when I first got back into shooting a few years ago. It ran ok in a savage bolt action 22 but not good at all in cheap Mossberg semiauto. does OK in my cheaper 22lr/22mag revolver.

I just bought my very first gun today (not counting my Daisy BB gun). I bought a Heritage Rough Rider with 4 and 3/4" barrel and red wooden grips. It was only $155. I'm definitely going to buy the .22 magnum cylinder. But I'm still going to use .22lr rounds so thank you for this video.
@Patrick Henry Thank you for the advice. I actually found a mail in offer in the box. Though it says free shipping if ordered online. I'll do that later today and save $8.75.

Hopefully by now you have found out your heritage will run any .22lr you can find...we are partial to the cheapest bulk we can find...minor note: the most accurate ammo out of our gun is cci target shorts 830 fps (and shorts are fun to shoot)...we try to be as cheap as we can be about ammo, and as plinkers we don't lose sleep about less than perfect accuracy...we just enjoy making bangs...
My daughters savage rascal get great groups with this ammo. My semi auto rifle won't cycle it very well. Lots of stove pipes and feeding issues. Since its standard velocity. My herritage revolver does well woth this blazer ammo too.
I found when testing different types of 22, you gotta run 10 or so rounds of the particular type through your barrel before testing for consistent groups. Something to do with variations in bullet lubes.
CCI Blazer 22lr 40 grain is one of the most accurate rounds I have shot through my CZ 457 synthetic. I have not tried the CCI Blazer 38 grain loose pack as of yet.
I have had good luck with Blazer. With all rimfire you will have a few duds. It’s the nature of the beast. I enjoyed talking to you last night. For some weird reason, TH-cam wouldn’t close creating audio problems. I would suggest to limit folks to 1 minute next time so we can see more folks we chat with every night.
Every ammo manufacture sells a variety of different named brands. You may pass on the higher priced brand but choose the mid grade or low price box. But they want our money, either way. I always like to see ammo testing, by the youtubers. It saves us time and money!
Blazers are very accurate in my 10/22, same model as you are using. Had to bed the stock because there was alot of play in the wood. Not a target rifle but single holes consistently at 25yds It doesnt like winchester wildcats . American eagles shoot well in it and of all things the cci stingers are accurate.

@@KlingonCaptain I ordered the mag cylinder for a rough rider I picked up a couple of months ago. I used the coupon and paid $30- no shipping. I received the cylinder in about a week.
@@shadowwolf2524 I decided to order mine next Thursday on payday.
@@KlingonCaptain Not only does Heritage offer the regular mag cylinder, but for only a few $ more, they have some that are engraved with different scenes. You should go to their website and check them out.
Paper plates make a great target. We are keeping the dollar stores in business.
Thanks for the video, and the info. CCI is my go to, but I hadn't thought about Blazer. Plink city!!! Whoteeehoo!
Thanks for watching Tim!
Accurate and goes bang enough said. Easy way to clean barrel is bore snake dipped in bore cleaner near the bronze brush. One pull cleaned and dry
I get this ammo all the time, it is amazing!! Never had one jam with it.
Blazer has always been good to me I've never used the 22lr though love that lil smithy M&P
My 10/22 likes blazer….always functions…and pretty accurate. But I want to get a bolt action 22 for even more accuracy
CCI Blazer 22lr 40 grain is one of the most accurate rounds I have shot through my CZ 457 synthetic. I have not tried the CCI Blazer 38 grain loose pack as of yet.
Every handgun I own gets fed blazer ammo, works as good as the expensive stuff
I've had good luck
Thanks for posting this video. I'll be geeting some at Sgammo since it has it on sale for 5 cents per round.
I think the wind was a big influence on the 10/22 shots. Everytime the camera started shaking the group would open up.
It shoots good in my 22 rifles and a also is good in revolver 22’s it’s good ammunition for me
Been shooting Blazer ammo for years. Never had issues with it
I've shot many thousands of blazers through a variety of guns, always reliable and accurate
Appreciated you joining. Yeah I agree I just have a hard time cutting people off
My savage b22 with a vortex 1-4x24 scope absolutely loves this ammo. So i picked up another 1100 rounds of cci blazer lol
Those were great groups.
Stuff shoots pretty good. Never had issues with it 👍
👍👍
I’ve always had good luck with it.
Looks a lil windy down range nice shooting WTW thanks for yet another great video 👍👍👍
The best and consistence 22lr rounds i have found is the CCI Blazer 40 grain .... that provides the best grouping for a factory round at 100 yards
Not a target rifle but single holes consistently at 25yds
It doesnt like winchester wildcats .
American eagles shoot well in it and of all things the cci stingers are accurate.
Thanks again for your valuable information ☺️
Thanks for watching
WHERE do you buy those massive bulk packs of paper plates?
Walmart has cheap bulk packs-- no coating ones.
