Im researching her best ammo options, to make it as good as it can be. Paul,i know youre goin through the wringer right now. We're all praying for you and your family. God's speed!🙏
I've bought them when first introduced in the 1970's. Impressed me greatly on the first shot from a 6" revolver on a black bird. Stingers from a 4"-6" handgun far exceeds ye olde hollow point LR. If some critter needs putting down then Stinger gets the job. I've tried other brands of "high performance" 22LR and none have the accuracy or destructive power of Stingers.
Yellow Jackets used to be my favorite, that big hollow would "blow stuff up", even better than Stingers. It seems to have been downloaded quite a bit from the 1980s, as many centerfire pistol/revolver ammo is now. As for quality, older rimfire ammo seems to have been more reliable as well. On a recent range trip I shot some 40+ year old Rem Mohawk 22lr and some less than 5 year old Federal and Winchester ammo. Only a small sample, about 100 rounds each, but 40 year old stuff had 0 misfire/duds whereas the newer stuff had about 3% fail rate.
We about to shoot away our last box of Winchester, Federal isn't much better but it will take a while to shoot away...we encountered a couple dud mini-mags recently, which does rock our boat...rimfire is what it is...
Another thorough review/test. "...it can effect the health of the chronograph." Yeah, I was watching someone shoot through one the other day and the chrony jumped on their second shot! Costly mistake.
I saw a guy put a bullet through his the first day after he bought it. He just sat and stared at the wreckage. Asking what the Boone and Crockett score for a chrono was probably in bad taste.
“But it CAN affect the life of the chronograph!” I didn’t think my wife was listening until she broke out laughing at that line! Great job as always Paul!

If you have a 22, there is a lot to figure out with ammo. Reliability is a big one. Some of those big boxes have a lot of duds. Also with Paul videos, if he put one up on the difference between mayonnaise and miracle whip it would get an instant like.
@@dustinspence2525 Miracle Whip is usually much to sweet for my tastes, thus the reason I prefer mayo. However, choosing between the two comes down to taste nothing more nothing less. You have an uncanny knack for putting out videos just when I could use the info. Great timing, thank you. The smallest firearm you tested these through would apply to my need. Good stuff, thanks again. Enjoy.
Paul, one of the things I like about your productions, you leave people with the added benefit of your attatude. this comes with "I have experience in this", however, "Don't take everything I say with absolutes". what I got out of this was, It isn't worth the extra effort to consider this ammunition when there are a lot of other brands that fall within its performance and cost a lot less, also, there is no magic cartridge that is a do-all be all that separates itself when it comes to handguns in this caliber range. however, twice nothing still is nothing and anything caliber wise is better than Nothing. Keep up the good work separating the chaff from the wheat. - Dave
CCI doesn't call themselves the "leader in rimfire ammunition" for nothing. Virtually all of the world's 22 mag/17 hmr and hyper-velocity 22 lr (extended length Stinger case) is made by them. No other brand has invested as much in the rimfire ammunition market and as a result they've excelled in a market that's little more than an afterthought to other manufacturers. Hopefully Remington's reputation for making inferior rimfire ammo might now start to improve.
Had a strange dream last night Paul- you were my "substitute" teacher in one of my college classes (I graduated from college years ago), you were dressed in your usual attire with one of your hunting jackets, sitting at the professor's desk and sternly surveying the class. I approached the desk and said something dumb like "Hey Paul, can you elaborate on the pros and cons of steel frame pistols vs aluminum alloy frame pistols?" to which you responded "If you need to talk to me, come see me after class..." to which I responded "10-4", then I woke up, took a dump, had some coffee, and went to work at my local gunshop. True story.
Sir, I just want to say that of all of the firearms channels, yours is the only one that presents information. I appreciate this and hope you will continue to do so. Thank you for being knowledgeable and professional.
This was just excellent. Thank you Paul! I love presentations on 22lr. It's a very popular caliber and a lot more popular in CC self defense guns than ever before. Also, I like to see this level of granular thoroughness analyzing calibers that are very popular. I lose interest in people showing me what they can blow up with their Barrett .50 cal; I'd be a lot more interested in seeing them shoot 9mm or .38 spl. or .45... basic calibers, but different manufacturers etc.. Comparing 4 top brands or more, is awesome. Thanks again!
I have long been partial to Mini Mags for general use and ground squirrel control. Good to know the Stingers and Yellow Jackets also have good expansion and don't seem to fragment much. The Punch seems like a pretty good idea (like a SWC) for those who may need it. May have to try some on some squirrels when i have a chance.
22 LR would never be my first choice for defense but if my 10/22 became my only gun, I'd go with the Stingers. CCI Velociter would have been my choice before watching this video.
I have shot some of those from my Tikka T1x rifle, even with a 16" barrel the bullet thumbels right from the muzzle. The Tikka has a 1:12 twist. It would be nice to have a gun where those round work tho, they are really quiet and pack some punch for a subsonic .22 round

Regardless of the bullet or caliber used I suspect that once you start poking holes in people they will tend to leave you alone. Use what you have experience with.
He definitely states many times throughout his videos to use what you’re comfortable shooting as hitting the target (and also minimizing collateral damage) is way more important than trying to maximize damage from caliber or ammo selection and missing.
Not as much as you might think. I've seen a guy who was shot three times with a .25 and still killed his assailant. He took one to the collar bone, one to the forearm/elbow, and one to the knee.
@@excollector9963 yes, if was charging you with a hammer and you shot me three times in the foot with a 9mm id still pound you down like a tent stake. Obviously shot placement counts. Those three .25 rounds placed in the neck and face would have stopped that interaction

The thing about the tiny cartridges is that once or twice or three times is not enough. You keep firing until it goes click....to quote Quintana, the pervert in The Big Lebowski. @@excollector9963 but you just stated they got hit three times. That was a lot more effective than not getting hit at all. That's what Paul and I are saying. If you cant hit the target because the firearm is too large or powerful then you need to get another firearm that suits you better.

Cheers to Paul Harrell keeping the same intro through the years
true that
respect for his consistency
My wife cleans businesses at night and carries a glock 44. Ive tried to get her to get at least a 380 or something but shes very fond of what she has. Im researching her best ammo options, to make it as good as it can be. Paul,i know youre goin through the wringer right now. We're all praying for you and your family. God's speed!🙏
I've shot stingers for years, pretty much all I buy in .22lr
I've bought them when first introduced in the 1970's. Impressed me greatly on the first shot from a 6" revolver on a black bird. Stingers from a 4"-6" handgun far exceeds ye olde hollow point LR. If some critter needs putting down then Stinger gets the job. I've tried other brands of "high performance" 22LR and none have the accuracy or destructive power of Stingers.
Paul Harrell is like a game of billiards. Physics in action, whether you like it or not. And a whole lot of fun.
RIP Paul Harrell.
Plenty of punch-lines in this one I'm sure.
@George Washington can we just not be political for 5 minutes?
@George Washington America First is inevitable
I didn’t know a 22 can echo like that
@@TheKep can you let people write whatever the fuck they want and move on?
Haaaaa.. leave 👉....go own git!
Right now "beggars can't be choosey" where I live. We buy what we can find in stock.
Sometimes it'll be like that... have look hard these days
my local gunshop has .22 in stock, but its like 18 cents a round.
I love his videos. He can keep my attention. He has a good balance of speaking about things and doing things in the same video. Keep it up.
This sure cheered me up after waking up from a nap that turned into a 7 hour long one.
Love the videos Paul keep them coming. Thank you
Good stuff. I’ve always considered Stingers as top of 22lr ammo and I don’t see anything here that changes that. Enjoyed as always.
If it weren't for the old fashioned - velocity - inconsistencies of the Stinger ammunition, I would've said that was the best.
“But it CAN affect the life of the chronograph!”
I didn’t think my wife was listening until she broke out laughing at that line! Great job as always Paul!
As always an interesting and professional approach to a subject that nobody ever would think is important until the one time it's all you have in an emergency! Thank you Paul for all you do you sir are what everyone else should strive to be!!
Exactly! I'm paying attention because we own a small and a tiny .22lr handguns...some days you just can't conceal a shotgun...
I woke up this morning and I’m looking forward to taking my nieces to Disney World. Sounds like a good day. But a Paul Harrell video before we leave home? That’s just icing on the cake.
Family all sitting in the car with Mickey ears on "twenty minutes whats he doing?"
"Oh I heard him say something about something important came up and he would be out in a minute!" ;
Will continue to watch Paul’s videos; always great content!
RIP Paul!!!
I am very happy to see more interest in the 22 LR, and I hope this continues. But, the Velocitor is the king of the 22.
Stangers, Punch's and the Velocitors are all the same length casing all on what you want to do with them

RIP Paul, first video I watched on your channel. Will enjoy your continued teachings and wisdom. Life is short, may God Bless your Soul Sir. Take care..
Glad he did this video. I picked up a couple boxes of this for my LCP but haven't had a chance to test it out. I have been using the CCI Stingers which I know function very well in my pistol. As soon as I saw the ballistic chart data I was hoping for a meat target test and as usual, Paul delivered.
You are what I call a professional, and I will be the judge. Who hits dislike for a Paul Harrell video? Branden, Hitchcock, Demo? Who is that jelly?
Caleb because he hasn't & won't outgrow being an insecure little boy desperately needing acceptance. And I deleted my LGA comment.
As I'm watching this I'm thinking _Why would anyone want to want to watch a twenty five minute analysis of .22 lr ammo?_
Then I immediately thought *_I_*_ would watch Paul do an _*_hour_*_ long analysis on the difference between crunchy and smooth peanut butter_
If you have a 22, there is a lot to figure out with ammo. Reliability is a big one. Some of those big boxes have a lot of duds. Also with Paul videos, if he put one up on the difference between mayonnaise and miracle whip it would get an instant like.
@@brianpartlow5530 Miracle whip>Mayo
change my mind
@@dustinspence2525 Miracle Whip is usually much to sweet for my tastes, thus the reason I prefer mayo. However, choosing between the two comes down to taste nothing more nothing less. I am most assured there are people out there that can switch between the two and be happy either way, and others that despise both in equal measure.
@@dustinspence2525 Assuming you're not trolling for LOLs, you have no mind left to be changed. Miracle whip isn't fit to feed to pigs, rats, or even cockroaches. Hellmann's or equivalent real mayo or nothing. Anything else is perversion.

Great video. Thanks Paul!
One minute ago and somebody already disliked? That's not even enough time to watch the video lol.
In fairness, I liked the video before watching it so...
There's just no pleasing some folks

much love for this crazy man, I seen him bring a whole bed out to the range to test the effectiveness of shooting from under a blanket- crazy dedication!
Thanks Paul, yet video with excellent content, thoroughly covered with your undeniable style!
I didn't understand why there were some "thumbs down" dislikes until I remembered our old Wyoming saying, "Some folks would bitch if you hung 'em with a new rope!" Hang in there Paul, 'cause I like that I am getting an honest appraisal of a product that seems to have taken the shooting world by storm, with so many superlatives re: the Federal Punch ammo. I've been around the block more than once and I was just waiting until you tested them. Thankyou for a breath of fresh air in this matter! God bless you and yours!

But thats one Reason for Deer- Hunting is not that Hard like hunting oder Species - They are just not that smart.
That’s the second time I’ve seen that in his videos. Good eye.
You have an uncanny knack for putting out videos just when I could use the info. Great timing, thank you. The smallest firearm you tested these through would apply to my need. Good stuff, thanks again. Enjoy.
Been watching Paul's videos for a couple of weeks now, it's kind of surreal watching one drop in real time.
Welcome to the party, pal! 😊. It's always exciting to see one of his videos pop up.
- Dave
"I dropped one on the ground and couldn't find it " yet again lol. A great t-shirt idea
I dropped one on the ground and left it for a democrat to find.

Paul... "Hey, let's look at some OTS 22 ammo".
Me... "Okay, you bet".
Thank you for the video. Appreciate all your 22lr videos because its really the only caliber i feel comfortable practicing with these days.
Vista outdoors owns all three manufacturers, so no matter which one you buy they're winning.
Thorough, direct, and excellent as always Paul. Awesome job.
True story.
Are you okay bro?😂
LoL, well Gus, as you know one is heavier.
Now Gus, you weren't puffing on 1 of those funny cigarettes were you before you had that dream?
Well, you couldve left out the "took a dump" part but okay I guess, is funny and fine lol

Sir, I just want to say that of all of the firearms channels, yours is the only one that presents information. I appreciate this and hope you will continue to do so. Thank you for being knowledgeable and professional.
I tend to stay with CCI Stingers and CCI Velocitor .22, for Years.
Yes I watched it to the end. A little fast forwarding, but got the important stuff.
Thanks for the info.
I woulda fell outta my chair laughing if Paul woulda said "nice" after 69 feet per second difference.
An excellent review amigo - I had never heard of punch - I love the mini-mags - for self defense i'll stick with my FNX 45.
Great presentation. I picked up a couple boxes of these, but I think I'll use them at the range and stick with my CCI Stingers for loading my S&W617.
I still would love to see the bloopers just cause he is human I know I met him
We’ll done as usual Mr. P, thanks for the presentation! 😎💪🏼👍🏻
Very very interesting! The stingers were very impressive at the right velocity for expansion!
22 LR would never be my first choice for defense but if my 10/22 became my only gun, I'd go with the Stingers. CCI Velociter would have been my choice before watching this video.
I'd like to see a demonstration one day of the Aquila SSS 60 grain ammo. I'd be happy to send some if necessary.
I have shot some of those from my Tikka T1x rifle, even with a 16" barrel the bullet thumbels right from the muzzle. The Tikka has a 1:12 twist. It would be nice to have a gun where those round work tho, they are really quiet and pack some punch for a subsonic .22 round
I like the Aguila SSS, and their "interceptor" ammo as well. Would like to see a couple comparisons with those included.
I will say,ive shot a lot of Aquila 60 gr and, after recoving the projectiles (from a half rotten stump) almost all weren't deformed much
@@ronimantymaki7035 the .22 SSS is supposed to be used out of a specific twist rate, don't recall what it is off the top of my head though.
@@owllymannstein7113 I could probably google it but I would *assume* it's closer to a 1:9 or 1:8

I wish the CCI Velocitors weren't constantly ignored in tests like this.
are those made to shoot at Velociraptors?
I'd like to see more of them as well
The velocitors are scarce these days...we sitting on 2 boxes, would like a dozen more for some testing...
@@PetuniaIii-pd1ww It's kind of funny, the very first time I bought ammo of any kind, right after buying my first gun, it was a brick of Velocitors. That was all they had in stock for .22. Since then, I've never again seen them at that store or any other.
Send Paul a few hundred.
Awesome , thorough, informative and entertaining. A typical Paul Harrell video- top notch!
Well, he's what you'd call a 'professional.'
@@jatpack3 - In the home, when an intrusion might take place, it might be that you are still in the process of fully waking up from REM sleep.
So, hitting the target is not going to be easy. Aim 'n' shoot is very important to hit the target. But, it may be that there isn't time to aim 'n' shoot,
so pointing is appropriate. Luckily, a human at close range is a big target. The thing about the tiny cartridges is that once or twice or three times is
not enough. You keep firing until it goes click....to quote Quintana, the pervert in The Big Lebowski. You want to kill the assailant because
if he lives, he can sue you for everything you have. Anyhow, at the shooting range, be sure to practice point 'n' shoot along with aim 'n' shoot.
@@excollector9963 but you just stated they got hit three times. That was a lot more effective than not getting hit at all. That's what Paul and I are saying. If you cant hit the target because the firearm is too large or powerful then you need to get another firearm that suits you better.
Good content Paul, I can understand why someone might consider use of 22 for personal defense if they only have one firearm, appreciate your comprehensive review, as always solid information to consider.
Looks like the CCI Stinger is the consistent winner in every .22LR test Paul ever made.
Only because they didn't compare them to Velociters.
The Stingers do well in his meat target and not so well in other tests.
Paul, thank you for yet another thorough and useful presentation. Now I need to find useful info regarding Stinger versus Velocitor.
If you ever need to make a particular box of ammo last longer, you could multi task by shooting at a target, while shooting through the chronograph. Same goes for the meat target.
🤯
😮😲😯
Why not shoot through the chrono at a target with the meat target behind it?
@@sweet65mustang Even though targets are just paper, it could alter the affect on the meat target, and distort results.
@@mtgAzim I think you're over thinking it a little considering he's already shooting through a tshirt and a piece of leather but ok.
Thanks Paul, great comparison. I too own a Beretta 21a and have been using it with Stingers for 150 years now. I can't find a reason to change.
