There will never be another Paul Harrell, the William Shatner of shooting video.

Very cool ... he's using the Mini mag I donated at his 'guest appearance' at our local gun show... great comparison video.
I can tell by the yellow price sticker on the box ... have an identical box sitting on my desk... .. glad I got to meet him and his 'crew'
@@bryandamkaer3646 since you got to meet him I'm curious, when they go to the gun shows are they selling guns or just hanging out and chatting?
Thank you for the donation!
They are just hanging out and chatting. When I went to the yard bird mall appreance they also had a huge collection of all the firearms you have seen in some of there videos as well as some others that are just mechanically cool or there will be a presentation about later. And the crew was awesome and let people handle any firearm on the table. But I do not believe they were selling any firearms only T-shirts

When you want comparisons, truth , and fun. Nothing beats paul.
Strait Facts, just like Paul
All delivered in a presentation style that's drier than vintage hard tack.
Other gun channels: we will do an unbiased impartial review of this Federal ammo….(while Federal quietly donates a generous donation under another name).
Also, when you want a gunfight, nothing beats Paul.
@@GeoffCostanza Paul Harrell: today we are testing Hornady’s new critical defense extra hard cast lead JHP. This robber will attempt to rob me, let’s see who they perform….. looks like highly effective. Lets examine his guts, they look very well damaged, his chest bones have crumbled, and bullets exited his back but only traveled 2 yards. I highly recommend this ammo.
Wow Paul, couldn't imagine a more thorough presentation. Lots of people do ballistics, but I find that so few do anything about bullet construction and performance. Throw in the multiple barrel lengths and you got a great video......oh, and the meat target......can't forget the meat target. 🙂

May GOD bless your soul Paul Harrell thanks for the great content that you have brought to use!!!
I seriously love when I get notified of a new video from Paul and the crew. No drama, no B.S., no shilling, just data, facts, and impartial information. Best guntuber on the platform, bar none. I know Paul won't agree with that statement, but you be the judge.
I tested this round in gel and I was very impressed. Compared to every other type of 22lr ammo I've tested in gel, this one left the most damaging wound track.
Earliest I’ve ever been to a Paul Harrell video- I’m ready.
I wonder if Paul ever uses his long-windedness to get himself out of trouble? Like:

Now in answering this question I'm going to have to talk about something that I have great DISDAIN for talking about--Myself. With that in mind, nothing I'm about to say should in anyway be construed as advice on how you should spend YOUR vacation money. I'm only telling you how I spend it. 4:39 - For all you who saw the deer, the reason it isn't worried is simple. It has seen Paul's videos also, especially on the .30-30, and knows that to Paul, deer hunting is just walking his rifle. No need to be alarmed and it isn't deer season.
The deer, having seen all of Pauls videos, and depending on your local laws, determined the .22lr was not a legal method of take, and knew it was safe. They DO eat Poptarts after all, so this proves they are evolving.
Paul you did this just in time for me because my 80 year old grandma always has kept a 22lr 2" barrel revolver that she keeps as home defense gun and I always had had her loaded up with CCI stingers for decades and recently I seen the punch ammo and was curious, so now I know that I will just keep it loaded up with stingers for her 👍
Replace it with Remington Yellow Jacket so you can have hollow point expansion out of a 2 inch barrel per Paul Harrels reccomendation.
The federal punch out performs all 22lr ammo drop the stinger it's not the best anymore the punch leaves it in the dust period for self defense, and your not gonna get any expansion out of a two inch barell go for penatration and that's where the punch shines
@@cecilking3727 Did you watch the review? The CCi Stingers beat it in every single aspect. And it was a Remington round that expanded out of the 2" barrel. The punch is an utter waste of money.
@@scottthomson9813 not hardly, you want penatration not expansion in a 22lr and the punch beats every other 22lr round in that category,I used to carry stingers but in my own ballistics gel test they can't compete with the federal punch from my taurus pt22 poly nearly twice the penatration in 10% gel, facts

Was at a Cabelas a week or so ago and asked his opinion on Federal Punch because they had 9mm Punch and he said, it's Federal's budget JHP, not as good as Federal HST but it'll do the job without breaking the bank.
You know what's messed up? Right now through online retailers, 9mm Punch is going for around 85 cents per round and HSTs are going for 82. Maybe someday the budget friendly option will be more widely available.

I love shooting my .22 6.5" Rough Rider; great for milking range time, practicing my aim and l find shooting/re-loading a classic single-action revolver quite relaxing. Although I don't rely on 22lr for any kind of defense I do like watching videos about the various types of 22lr and wmr ammo, another great vid!
You put a lot of effort into comparing something as mundane and miniscule as 22 long rifle ammo. Thank you. The results in my opinion are very lackluster, but typical for 22. I appreciate the time and effort you made to make a unbiased comparison and a honest look at each type of ammo. I think that you gave your viewers some really good information that will help if they choose a 22 lr for concealed carry
Paul Harrell - In the asset column as always. Thank you for all your hard work. Your consistency is rivaled only by your integrity.
Hey my names Ian M too
Thanks Paul! There are so many of the gun guru's with video's of .50 bmg and other huge rounds that no average citizen is likely to own or be able to afford the exorbident price for the ammo. This was the most entertaining and informative ammo comparison I've seen to date. Excellent job. Awesome speaking skills.
For what it is worth, and I realize this is an older video, but I had some Federal Punch in 380 acp. Shot into a couple of water jugs out of an LCP 2 and the expansion was outstanding, beautiful even. I was impressed.
“But it CAN affect the life of the chronograph!”
I didn’t think my wife was listening until she broke out laughing at that line! Great job as always Paul!
This sure cheered me up after waking up from a nap that turned into a 7 hour long one.
Yellow Jackets used to be my favorite, that big hollow would "blow stuff up", even better than Stingers. It seems to have been downloaded quite a bit from the 1980s, as many centerfire pistol/revolver ammo is now. As for quality, older rimfire ammo seems to have been more reliable as well. On a recent range trip I shot some 40+ year old Rem Mohawk 22lr and some less than 5 year old Federal and Winchester ammo. Only a small sample, about 100 rounds each, but 40 year old stuff had 0 misfire/duds whereas the newer stuff had about 3% fail rate.
We about to shoot away our last box of Winchester, Federal isn't much better but it will take a while to shoot away...we encountered a couple dud mini-mags recently, which does rock our boat...rimfire is what it is...
Something about this guy is oddly nostalgic, even down to the tone of his voice. The way the videos are written and structured makes them feel like those old cop training videos without the performances they always have.
I love his videos. He can keep my attention. He has a good balance of speaking about things and doing things in the same video. Keep it up.
I'd like to see a demonstration one day of the Aquila SSS 60 grain ammo. I'd be happy to send some if necessary.
I have shot some of those from my Tikka T1x rifle, even with a 16" barrel the bullet thumbels right from the muzzle. The Tikka has a 1:12 twist. It would be nice to have a gun where those round work tho, they are really quiet and pack some punch for a subsonic .22 round
I like the Aguila SSS, and their "interceptor" ammo as well. Would like to see a couple comparisons with those included.
I will say,ive shot a lot of Aquila 60 gr and, after recoving the projectiles (from a half rotten stump) almost all weren't deformed much
@@ronimantymaki7035 the .22 SSS is supposed to be used out of a specific twist rate, don't recall what it is off the top of my head though.
@@owllymannstein7113 I could probably google it but I would *assume* it's closer to a 1:9 or 1:8

Great presentation. I picked up a couple boxes of these, but I think I'll use them at the range and stick with my CCI Stingers for loading my S&W617.
I have long been partial to Mini Mags for general use and ground squirrel control. Good to know the Stingers and Yellow Jackets also have good expansion and don't seem to fragment much. The Punch seems like a pretty good idea (like a SWC) for those who may need it. May have to try some on some squirrels when i have a chance.
This was just excellent. Thank you Paul!
I love presentations on 22lr. It's a very popular caliber and a lot more popular in CC self defense guns than ever before.
Also, I like to see this level of granular thoroughness analyzing calibers that are very popular. I lose interest in people showing me what they can blow up with their Barrett .50 cal; I'd be a lot more interested in seeing them shoot 9mm or .38 spl. or .45... basic calibers, but different manufacturers etc..
Comparing 4 top brands or more, is awesome.
Thanks again!
I've shot stingers for years, pretty much all I buy in .22lr
I've bought them when first introduced in the 1970's. Impressed me greatly on the first shot from a 6" revolver on a black bird. Stingers from a 4"-6" handgun far exceeds ye olde hollow point LR. If some critter needs putting down then Stinger gets the job. I've tried other brands of "high performance" 22LR and none have the accuracy or destructive power of Stingers.

@@brianpartlow5530 Miracle whip>Mayo

@@dustinspence2525 Miracle Whip is usually much to sweet for my tastes, thus the reason I prefer mayo. However, choosing between the two comes down to taste nothing more nothing less. I woulda fell outta my chair laughing if Paul woulda said "nice" after 69 feet per second difference.
Paul, one of the things I like about your productions, you leave people with the added benefit of your attatude. this comes with "I have experience in this", however, "Don't take everything I say with absolutes". what I got out of this was, It isn't worth the extra effort to consider this ammunition when there are a lot of other brands that fall within its performance and cost a lot less, also, there is no magic cartridge that is a do-all be all that separates itself when it comes to handguns in this caliber range. however, twice nothing still is nothing and anything caliber wise is better than Nothing. Keep up the good work separating the chaff from the wheat. - Dave

Paul Harrell Your channel always impresses. In my opinion you are performing some of the most important Terminal Ballistics Testing since Dr Martin Fackler began his testing in the late 1980's at the request of the FBI after the 1986 Miami incident. Your test methods are even more "real world" based than Dr Fackler's and for that reason are advancing Terminal Ballistics research in a better direction. You and "Gun Sam Revolver_Aficionado_" are THE guys to go to in my opinion, when looking at Terminal Ballistics Evaluation because both of you are totally "Real World" based and 100% practical and it doesn't get any better than that! this is one of the best put together and informational vids on the tube. thanks paul
I think the important take away from all this is that 22lr is capable of being effective, but that doesn't always mean that it's a great idea. I love shooting 22s but the biggest issue I've seen is that ammo may run really well in 1 gun and poorly in another even if the gun is the same model. The bulk ammo is a little hit and miss so, depending on the application, you may need to run several types to see what works best for your specific gun. The premium 22 ammo is usually better, but I've had issues with some types that seem unusual too. When I hunt little rodents and opossums, stingers have worked well in my bolt guns, AR conversion, and in my tx22. But I've had about the same performance in the Remington golden bullet bulk stuff too.
Absolutely love these videos Mr. Harrell, thank you for comparing ammo like this it is very informative and appreciated. God bless you all
I wish the CCI Velocitors weren't constantly ignored in tests like this.
are those made to shoot at Velociraptors?

The velocitors are scarce these days...we sitting on 2 boxes, would like a dozen more for some testing...
@@PetuniaIii-pd1ww It's kind of funny, the very first time I bought ammo of any kind, right after buying my first gun, it was a brick of Velocitors. That was all they had in stock for .22. Since then, I've never again seen them at that store or any other.

Looks like the CCI Stinger is the consistent winner in every .22LR test Paul ever made.

@@slumdutchmillionare a Bobcat in .32ACP being a center fire round should be more reliable, I haven't had any issues with mine.
I am very happy to see more interest in the 22 LR, and I hope this continues. But, the Velocitor is the king of the 22.
Stangers, Punch's and the Velocitors are all the same length casing all on what you want to do with them
@@miketyson8933 ---> Did you mean to type "Singer" and not "stanger"?
I like the deer running thru at 4:42, “hey there’s somebody down here” or maybe you didn’t have as exclusive use as you thought! Interesting comparison I always wondered how different those rounds really were.
I'm 2 and a half minutes in and it feels like this is going to be epic.
