There are tons of ex-pats living in China and have no dazzles by The Chinese government. Why did Canada arrest Meng Wenzhou and 3 hours of interrogation without giving her proper legal rights? There were at least 6 to 8 other countries that refused to do the dirty works for the Americans. So you asked why 2 Canadians were arrested?
I really like chengdu bit like south east Asia where I come from . It is multiracial multicultural colourful w Chinese historical heritage I especially like it not over commercial culturally compared to cities like Guangzhou, Shanghai...
In retrospect, I feel I should have studied computer science and Mandarin at university (back in the early 2000s) and applied for jobs in Chengdu or Shenzhen. These days tech firms in China have little incentive or indeed the need to hire foreigners given the ample supply of young, talented and well-educated Chinese.

The greatest advantage of China is she has a big pool of college graduates and every large city’s technology development is well-coordinated with provincial and central government. Many city officials are usually in the economic development positions for at least 5 years before moving to public administration leadership positions.
Thanks for showing this! I got educated in a school that's located in this area from primary school to high school. I'm now studying abroad in college. I witnessed how this area transited to such a modern place where all kinds of skycrapers are built. Really brings up some of my memories. Thank you again! Missing Chengdu!

correct, Chengdu is not the only big city in western China. There are plenty metropolis in China, at least every Province's capital city is a mega city compare to cities in europ and america. I mean the developed scales of the city crashes every city in western countries, which is to say not just the population, but in every possible way a metropolis can be.

Chengdu is an old but fast moving city with most advanced technologies located here. China's top-tier military plane manufacturer is located here, with its partner engine and component suppliers dotted around not far. The well known J-20 fighter plane is designed and made here.
At the rate, China gets involved in the hi-tech industry, it is no surprise that we will continue to see many more new tech ideas from the young minds! And surprisingly, your command of Chinese certainly puts many overseas Chinese into shame! As for the rest of the region, it looks like we have no other choice except to jump into the competition!

Here in Australia we call it slave and abuse because the maximum is 40 hours a week or 7.25 hours a day for government work. Pot holes take for ever to get fix like those on my footpath, it is trip hazard and 1 year still hasn't complete
