    Thank you for all these wonderful videos! I have a question about the riveting in the Doncaster fuselage. It looks like the final hole size is drilled but the hole is not given a final deburring. Is that because the Doncaster fuselage will only be used for display/taxi and not be flown?

    Hi Neville, great to see the Doncaster tail section now being sprayed and transplanted. Could you ask the guys whether Jane`s own tail section will be as intensive as this Doncaster one, which i`m assuming won`t be as she seems to be in much better condition already?.

      @@davecooke4009 The "Doncaster" fuselage is from a Lancaster on loan from Doncaster. It's being restored so it can be put on NX611 for a taxi season while NX611's own fuselage is restored to airworthiness.

    • @nevillewheeldon1693
      @nevillewheeldon1693  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Neal , every rivet will have to be drilled out, A number of formers have to be replaced and all the skins will be New. The rear part of the fuselage (rear gun section) has already been restored. ( Rivet are corroding, made of Magnesium alloy)

    Great update as usual. I am still confused on which parts will be used in the flyable Lanc and which ones in the plane for exhibition purposes, as usual as well, lol. But no problem at all, still attached to this fantastic job of yours. Cheers, crew!

    • @samrodian919
      @samrodian919 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's simple. The Doncaster fuselage you have been watching being repaired to taxiable standard will be used on the Lancaster Just Jane NX611 so her taxi fundraising can carry on next season while Jane's own fuselage is restored to airworthy condition. Then it will go back on to Jane, and the Doncaster fuselage will go back to the Doncaster museum.

    Quick question for you please, the spraying that’s been done seems to be over a mixed surface background, I was always used to seeing some kind of base primer...zinc chromate or the like of! Is this final finish here, or will it be re- finished? Meantime keep up the brilliant work you do, seemingly tirelessly??! Someone has to do it...but there are so few who can or would! ATVBest to you all! Cheers

    • @nevillewheeldon1693
      @nevillewheeldon1693  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nigel, you have to remember this will only be a static display when the Centre as finished with it in about 12 months, it as not been restored to airworthy condition. Cost comes into play, the Centre pays for it all.

    Curious about the schedule. I believe you said a while back, the so-called "Doncaster [aft] fuselage" would be swapped for that of Just Jane, the latter then being refurbished to flight-worthy standards. When is the swap planned, and I look forward to those videos for sure ! Thank you !

      Interesting video! NF920 was a Mk1 Lanc. JJ is Mk7 as was NX664, both did service in the French navy. The RAF retiring the Lancaster from front line service in 1956 at Raf St Mawgan. If you search google, you can find a short video of this.
