    I agree they are beautiful, as always. At the beginning: bubbly Jim. In the middle: frustrated Jim and at the end we had bubbly Jim again. Loved it 🌞

    You're the first wood turner that I've seen core the bowls. Seems to be more productive and less wasteful, especially with such unique finished items 😊

    I have been watching your videos, for just over a year. So, it's been really fun to find these videos from 2 years, ago. I really like that you put the old resin "slabs" in this piece. It would still be beautiful with just the blue. But, these slabs make it better and unique.

    This is a complement! When things are so ugly they come back around to groovy. Beautiful work in saving the inside bowls.👍🔥

    Terrific! It's a stunning combo of human-made resin and the natural beauty of wood. The stripes are so much fun. So creative!

    I’m so glad that you are showing the precision of your artistic whimsy. A lot of people don’t understand that symmetry takes work! I would love to see a version of these bowls with different kinds of burl woods. I know that would be hard because different woods are structured differently, but I do believe that you have the skill to pull that one off. ;-)

    • @SpragueWoodturning
      @SpragueWoodturning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I had the different burls it wouldn’t be a problem. However, the different burls might clash with each other based on color. Thanks for watching

    I think these bowls are Cool! They remind me of flowers, with burl the main part of the petal, and the strips of resin, the middle vein. Or you see it as a map, with the burl as land, the blue resin as sea, and the striped resin as flags. Cool! 😁

    Nice bowls Jim. They look like the map of the world and the bars sort of look like the flags of the countries. Lots of colour in the bowls. The left over resin chunks could be cut into 3/4" x 3/4" x 5" bars for making pens. Just a thought. Take care and stay safe.

    Outside of largest bowl, I thought the landmass/ocean, and the bars detracted, inside, everything was a fantastic colorful punch. Learned something more about resin as a medium, thank you. And gorgeous set. I’ve also seen a few other uses of the coring set, again, learning more. Thank you.

    small one is the best....as you can tell, I'm one of those that, although I commend you for not wasting past resin, I prefer the less "colourful" of the lot...you called it (35:33)!...love the fact that you're coring...getting more out of the wood...less sawdust waste...I watch a few woodturners and you are the only turner that does it...keep up the cool work Jim!

    Yes, ocean and land masses globe, with stripes that remind me of flags of the nations often seen on old maps. Glad you cored. Too much resin ends up in garbage cans. I think the video shows the resin wood joint on the small core failing, which acted as a catch, making the tenon jump out of the chuck. Resin or wood tenon would both react that way. Great bowl set, very attractive.
