You're the first wood turner that I've seen core the bowls. Seems to be more productive and less wasteful, especially with such unique finished items 😊
I have been watching your videos, for just over a year. So, it's been really fun to find these videos from 2 years, ago. I really like that you put the old resin "slabs" in this piece. It would still be beautiful with just the blue. But, these slabs make it better and unique.
I’m so glad that you are showing the precision of your artistic whimsy. A lot of people don’t understand that symmetry takes work! I would love to see a version of these bowls with different kinds of burl woods. I know that would be hard because different woods are structured differently, but I do believe that you have the skill to pull that one off. ;-)
I think these bowls are Cool! They remind me of flowers, with burl the main part of the petal, and the strips of resin, the middle vein. Or you see it as a map, with the burl as land, the blue resin as sea, and the striped resin as flags. Cool! 😁
These bowls are fantastic! I love the multicoloured stripes. I thought they were not going to look very good when they were in the mold. You are so very clever! I am in awe of your expertise and knowledge. Well done for producing such a spectacularly unique set. How I wish I had US$600 to buy them. I so enjoy your videos and especially enjoyed this one. Thank you for sharing your amazing and immense skills with us woodturning want to be's! All the best! Keep safe. Warmest Regards from Sharon in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia.
Beautiful, the cool part of using your left overs is that you get wonderful contrasts, not to mention the abstract design does not go amiss. Love the end result.
That is absolutely gorgeous! I’m glad you stayed with one color! That Designer Epoxy is FABULOUSLY beautiful. Between that Epoxy, the burl wood and your creativity the outcome is out of this world amazing!!! Love it, love it, love it! Great job! Awesome!!
Love it or hate it.....LOVE IT! I don't know how you keep coming up with these great ideas Jim, but I'm glad you do. I watch an awful lot of turning videos and I feel you're doing some of the most creative projects I've seen. Keep 'em comin'.
The bowls turned out great! Absolutely fantastic! Really love all the variations in the resin and the light/dark of the wood. This would look cool as a vase or a trinket box with a lid. Superb quality hands down.
I was so riveted to this video that I didn't get up to rescue the mouse that my cat brought in to me. I feel a little guilty but your bowls are out of this world! (so is the mouse).
I love your creative use of the resin that you saved, the sky blue with the mother of pearl absolutely beautiful and as you say quite often, the burl ain't bad either.
Nice bowls Jim. They look like the map of the world and the bars sort of look like the flags of the countries. Lots of colour in the bowls. The left over resin chunks could be cut into 3/4" x 3/4" x 5" bars for making pens. Just a thought. Take care and stay safe.
Yeah, I wouldn't have known that was a filler for a divot if you hadn't said! It just looks like a lighter part of the blue, which you see naturally in a few other places. You're totally right, it does look like islands or continents in shining oceans! Very beautiful bowl set! And great use of leftover resin pours!
Outside of largest bowl, I thought the landmass/ocean, and the bars detracted, inside, everything was a fantastic colorful punch. Learned something more about resin as a medium, thank you. And gorgeous set. I’ve also seen a few other uses of the coring set, again, learning more. Thank you.
small one is the best....as you can tell, I'm one of those that, although I commend you for not wasting past resin, I prefer the less "colourful" of the lot...you called it (35:33)!...love the fact that you're coring...getting more out of the wood...less sawdust waste...I watch a few woodturners and you are the only turner that does it...keep up the cool work Jim!
The bowls just make me want to laugh. They are striking, joyeous and almost airy. If I had the money I'd totally spend it on them. Whoevever gets them will get a bright spot of happiness in their life. Awesome bowls!
I didn’t think I would like this one, but I really do. I love the way there’s so much focus on the wood. That’s always what I like most. But the stripes turned out to be really cool and they are especially appealing if you look at this as a set.
I'll admit it, my first thought was "What the hell is that crazy son of a gun doing?" My final thought was "Why the hell was I doubting Jim?" Frigging awesome piece. In addition to what the others (and you) have said about the resemblance to a globe, it also reminds me of the big rose window from a huge cathedral with all the colors. Just amazing.
Yes, ocean and land masses globe, with stripes that remind me of flags of the nations often seen on old maps. Glad you cored. Too much resin ends up in garbage cans. I think the video shows the resin wood joint on the small core failing, which acted as a catch, making the tenon jump out of the chuck. Resin or wood tenon would both react that way. Great bowl set, very attractive.
I really want to save as much of it as possible, it’s money that goes right in the garage if you don’t! You could be right, we’re alway one catch away from disaster, lol. Thanks 😊
These are amazingly beautiful! At first I thought that putting another colour of resin on top would have looked cool too but once it was cored I think they would have looked unbalanced with different levels of the different colours. I'd love to see this again with rainbow blue resin!
Wow, very colorful, very beautiful indeed. Like the blue resin, it's stunning. Thanks for the post, scared me when it came off the lathe. The edge is very sharp, could cut you real bad. Part of the job. This set of bowls are an outstanding art set. Very well done sir. 🌿 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was a little skeptical at the beginning. You once again proved me wrong. I also picked up another tidbit of knowledge - Cole jaws and tail stock to center glue block. Brilliant.
They are colorful 🥰 possibly would have chosen a black or grey to really make the resin slices pop. I love watching you use a nose to tail philosophy when turning, it's inspiring 💖
I agree they are beautiful, as always. At the beginning: bubbly Jim. In the middle: frustrated Jim and at the end we had bubbly Jim again. Loved it 🌞
Frustrated Jim's a bummer, lol. Thanks
You're the first wood turner that I've seen core the bowls. Seems to be more productive and less wasteful, especially with such unique finished items 😊
Absolutely! Thanks 😊
I have been watching your videos, for just over a year. So, it's been really fun to find these videos from 2 years, ago. I really like that you put the old resin "slabs" in this piece. It would still be beautiful with just the blue. But, these slabs make it better and unique.
Glad you like them! Thanks
I love it….my interpretation on the large bowl is showing the diversity of peoples and cultures, sharing one world.
Totally, thanks 🙏🏻
This is a complement! When things are so ugly they come back around to groovy. Beautiful work in saving the inside bowls.👍🔥
Lol, thanks
This set of bowls simply couldn’t have been better! I’m a colorholic and I’ just had my fix. I’m blown away.
Lol, thanks I really appreciate it!
Terrific! It's a stunning combo of human-made resin and the natural beauty of wood. The stripes are so much fun. So creative!
Thank you very much!
It really is impossible to pick a favorite with your works, every one is uniquely in a right of its own.
Thank you for sharing Jim.
Thank you very much!
Definitely falls into the category of “One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen”😊
Awesome, thanks 🙏
I’m so glad that you are showing the precision of your artistic whimsy. A lot of people don’t understand that symmetry takes work! I would love to see a version of these bowls with different kinds of burl woods. I know that would be hard because different woods are structured differently, but I do believe that you have the skill to pull that one off. ;-)
If I had the different burls it wouldn’t be a problem. However, the different burls might clash with each other based on color. Thanks for watching
I think your favorite color is blue. Beautiful. Every week I think, he can't top last week, but you do. Thank you for amazing me every week.
It’s my pleasure, thanks 😊
Interesting. This is a very brave demonstration of epoxy use. A merge of tradition and modern.
It’s busy, lol. Thanks 😊
I think these bowls are Cool! They remind me of flowers, with burl the main part of the petal, and the strips of resin, the middle vein. Or you see it as a map, with the burl as land, the blue resin as sea, and the striped resin as flags. Cool! 😁
Thanks 😊
I love the rainbow of colours. 😊❤🙏🇦🇺🐨
Thanks!
Again Jim these 3 bowls are absolutely beautiful. I love watching your work.

WOW, very cool indeed. The mother of pearl in the blue really sets things off. Fantastic
It sure does! Thanks
Looks like a 3-D map! With the blue (my favourite colour, btw) made it look like islands! Love these!

Thanks 😊

I love the bars of color in this bowl set!
Thanks 😊
That’s beautiful! Love the way it looks like water and land masses! Genius!
Thank you very much!
Love the bowls, especially the way the burl connects to the colour
It’s a pretty neat effect. Thanks!
That is absolutely gorgeous! I’m glad you stayed with one color! That Designer Epoxy is FABULOUSLY beautiful. Between that Epoxy, the burl wood and your creativity the outcome is out of this world amazing!!!
Love it, love it, love it!
Great job! Awesome!!
Thank you so much!
They look very unique, Jim!! You have great imagination and creativity!!
Thanks 🙏
Love it or hate it.....LOVE IT! I don't know how you keep coming up with these great ideas Jim, but I'm glad you do. I watch an awful lot of turning videos and I feel you're doing some of the most creative projects I've seen. Keep 'em comin'.
Thanks Dan, it means a lot to me!
The bowls turned out great! Absolutely fantastic! Really love all the variations in the resin and the light/dark of the wood. This would look cool as a vase or a trinket box with a lid. Superb quality hands down.
Thank you very much!
That vacuum Chamber is fun to watch, Wish the pressure pot had a clear lid. Beautiful pieces.
Someday I will put the camera in the pot with a light to see what it’s doing. Thanks
You could call the bowl 7/10s. Beautiful. Love the colours.
Not sure what you mean, lol. Thanks 😊
What a creative idea! Man, you have the toughest time getting projects to release. Such beautiful work. Thanks
I should of used a heat gun and that glue would of released. Never thought of it tho. Thanks 🙏
I was so riveted to this video that I didn't get up to rescue the mouse that my cat brought in to me. I feel a little guilty but your bowls are out of this world! (so is the mouse).
My cats tend to find a mouse here and there too, lol. Thanks 😊
Your work is fabulous Jim and a pleasure to watch
Thanks 🙏
Beautiful Jim! I would call it the stained glass bowl set! You are an awesome artist!
That would of worked too, thanks 😊

Spectacular again! You had me doubting in the beginning…..obviously I have no vision, LOL 😝 Great Job Jim. So creative and very cool!
Lol, thanks 😊
Jim, you are very clever to reuse the resin this way...
Thanks so much!
Looks like a map of the world Jim! Gorgeous
Thanks 😊
Another beautiful bowl. I liked how you used the resin that you didn't need.
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks to your videos, I can say I love tools.
Lol, me too! Thanks 😊
Very unique, weird, colorful and fun Jim. Terrific bowls.

I love your creative use of the resin that you saved, the sky blue with the mother of pearl absolutely beautiful and as you say quite often, the burl ain't bad either.

Thanks for watching
Jim congratulations this is beautiful. I think it is the nicest resin bowl I’ve seen come off a lath. It really appeals to me.

The bands of color remind me of flags. Love how these bowls turned out. Just beautiful.
Thanks, I will be doing more of theses in the future 😊
Outside of largest bowl, I thought the landmass/ocean, and the bars detracted, inside, everything was a fantastic colorful punch. Learned something more about resin as a medium, thank you. And gorgeous set. I’ve also seen a few other uses of the coring set, again, learning more. Thank you.

I didn’t think I would like this one, but I really do. I love the way there’s so much focus on the wood. That’s always what I like most. But the stripes turned out to be really cool and they are especially appealing if you look at this as a set.

Frigging awesome piece. In addition to what the others (and you) have said about the resemblance to a globe, it also reminds me of the big rose window from a huge cathedral with all the colors. Just amazing.

From the inside it looks like a stain glass window in the top of some of those old European churches. Beautiful bowls.
Sure does! Thanks!
I like the combo of the strips blue and wood
Need to do one of theses again. Thanks for watching
One of my favorite parts of your videos are watching you fight with the molds 😂❤
You’re not alone, lol. Thanks for watching!
These are amazingly beautiful! At first I thought that putting another colour of resin on top would have looked cool too but once it was cored I think they would have looked unbalanced with different levels of the different colours. I'd love to see this again with rainbow blue resin!
I agree with you, if I use blue again there will be a revolt, haha. Thanks 😊
All of them look fantastic Jim, Excellent work as usual..
Thanks 🙏
This video was great. Recycling the resin and wood pieces. Is a good way to use for even prettier art work that are also usable.
Designer Epoxy

I was a little skeptical at the beginning. You once again proved me wrong. I also picked up another tidbit of knowledge - Cole jaws and tail stock to center glue block. Brilliant.
It’s the best way to line things up, thanks 🙏
It's colorful, the wood makes it natural, and the resin makes it a gem. Your idea for this piece was fantastic.

They are colorful 🥰 possibly would have chosen a black or grey to really make the resin slices pop. I love watching you use a nose to tail philosophy when turning, it's inspiring 💖
