Margie Halloway is a normal woman. She works a job she doesn’t care about, avoids men who catcall her on the street, and goes home every night to Salem her beloved cat who also happens to be named after the town she lives in.
Despite its namesake, Salem is a pretty normal town. Small, unassuming, everybody knows everybody.
Until a string of murders occurs in her small town and she starts to feel… different. She can do things she couldn’t do before, like move objects without touching them, or get people to do whatever she wants.
She might be going crazy because, her cat is suddenly talking to her and it seems elderly women are following her around. Even more unusual, her ex is suddenly very interested in her life again, all the while she’s beginning to believe that maybe these murders and her new abilities have more to do with one another than she thought.

I had to stop this like five minutes in. The narration is over the top.

Only 13 minutes in and I’m not sure I can finish if the loud, over-caffeinated, manic style of narration continues.

Honestly, I'm only about 8 mins in and I came to the comments to see if anyone else was having the same reaction. You described it perfectly, over-caffeinated and manic...almost like she's trying to hard...in all the wrong spots, lol.

Changing the playback speed to 0.75 makes this much more listenable ;-)
I think my aunt would love this, because she's all about princes or knights in shining armor rescuing damsels. I am all about self-rescuing princesses, or witches. This main character is not self-rescuing, and the men in her life are way too domineering for my tolerance. The way her ex behaves is inexcusable and unforgivable in my opinion. But again, I know people to whom this would appeal. I had a reputation for kicking bullies in the crotch by 5th grade, and it has only progressed. My tolerance for men who think they can physically intimidate women is nill. I listened to the end, hoping the heroine would discover inner strength and defeat her smarmy foes, or that there would be a girl power moment when her coven sisters came to her rescue and reaped vengeance upon the serial killer who slaughtered their sisters, but alas, males rescued her while she sat any cried.
I don't mean to be critical, just to let other readers sort themselves. Some people will love this, just not ornery gals like myself.

I've barely started it and had to come to the comments because of the narrarator herself, loud, over emotional in the wrong places...it's coming off like she's trying too hard. Thanks for this warning, I would be upset to suffer listening to this only to find a dismal, unsatisfying ending.

Darn, why is she so very hyper? I can't really rate the story because the narrator was so busy screaming at top speed. I' d have turned it off but was in another room. Then again, to be fair, I might be freaked out too given the situation. Still that 2 1/2 hours of loud.
