This is book two of the Cozy Hill Mystery series and the main character is Gwen (Gwendolyn) Paris, who lives on the Hill, in the Town of Green, with her white practising witch Grandma Robby (Roberta). They live near the bottom of the Hill in a small cottage and the houses further up the Hill are very exclusive and well sought after. When their street is lit up by flashing blue lights, they soon find out that a murder has occurred and the dead person is banker, Jasper Posey. The lead cop is Dooly Morris who has a bit of a thing for Gwen, not that she reciprocates this attraction. Her attention is more pointed towards a certain man called Kevin Pearson, who is helping them out with some handyman jobs in their home, but also has his own business in town, with a garage and attached diner where lots of people eat. The whole town has a range of different supernaturals, but the Hill was normally only Wiccans, but has allowed someone else to move in, to provide their community with protection. Now that person has been killed and in a very brutal manner. Dooly visits their home, to tell them to stay inside and Robby makes eye contact with Marjorie Lewis, a neighbour from across the road, who they don’t exactly get along with. Marjorie is a social climber and after her son Weldon got a huge settlement for a slip and fall, she pushed him to buy a home on the Hill and is desperate for the chance to move up the Hill. Dooly dislikes that Kevin was in such close proximity to Gwen and it seems someone is making accusations about Gwen which will cause her a few problems along the way, as she tries to find out what has happened with Kevin and try to find and save him. When one of her gran’s little spells goes slightly wrong, it gives their cat Ammie Amulet) the ability to talk to Gwen, and even through her! The latter of which becomes useful at a few key points in the story. Gwen gets some shocking introductions to some of the other beings in town and finds herself having to suddenly develop some of her own innate magical skills. She needs her gran to train her in more about what she truly is and what she is capable of. A twisted tale of greed and jealousy, with curses and a conspiracy among a number of different people, who aren’t afraid of killing to get what they want!
It is audio of some draft, actually, or the pen for book two was given to a child. Well, the child does have imagination, still this book 2 is… Strange.
Narrating is harder than you think. I have listened to audiobooks for over twenty years and I go through a book a day at least. She has a good voice, the problem is she doesn't chaage voices for each character she doesn't fluctuate the right parts of the sentences, often. There are much worse out there.

I've appreciated the other two Catherine Waltan audiobooks I've had the privilege of enjoying but the narrator on this one is a bit unfortunate sadly.
She has a nice voice but she does have some work to do. She doesn't switch voices for the characters, but she can learn.

Hmm sounds like a blind date - he is a little fat w/ a few teeth missing but has a super nice personality
The cats sounds awful 😞 it’s just such a bad accent 🥺😩 I do like the story though 😊
