I've never once cast Gisela and had other players view it as incentive to attack each other. No matter how it was presented the other players just saw "he's doing double damage" and they immediately try to kill her no matter what.
Ive had it come up enough times. THey do the math to attack you, realize they will lose creatures and not do that much damage and then attack someone else. Or sometimes they stay put, but either way its better than you getting attacked. Yeah you do need to protect her, but some greaves can fix that.
Damn, my groups closer to OP. Gisela hits my board and if it’s not the win con I die fast. My group almost always go for player removal if she shows up.
That reminds me, I need to try out Forging the Tyrite Sword in a deck. I reckon it's something people might be sleeping on, but I'd be keen to hear your opinion.
You played my iroas deck a few years ago and I’ve made it so much better, the late game iroas deck focusing on having a few big creatures out and attacking with just those. My friends literally hate playing against it now that ramp has gotten so much better and they’ll hate it even more when I move my waves of aggression into it
haha yes I remember! Many people enjoy Iroas in the command zone, but I just find that I am not one of them :) Ive tried so many times to build a version of him that I like and it just seems that none of them do it for me.
Great video yet again! The list had all of the cards I expected to see and some ones that I'm yet to try but definitely will. As someone who's been playing Gisela as the commander as my main deck for years, I can confirm that I either die because I'm the archenemy or I win the game. Even though it wasn't on the list, I see her power level as on par with Aurelia, with the guildmaster providing more value and advantage while the Goldnight provides raw damage and pressure. I prefer the latter so I can do 300 damage in a turn xD
Gonna make my own list, in no particular order to see how many I can guess after your criteria. Gisela, Blade of Goldnight Boros Charm Blade historian Bruse Tarl Fighter Class Bruenor Aurelia the Warleader Waves of Aggression Iroas Sunforger Honorable mentions: Angelfire Ignition Boros Duel lands and mana rocks (mana base is king but everyone knows that, not interesting enough to go on an actual list) Assemble the legion Basandra Battle Seraph Adriana Cadric Soul Kindler Chance for glory
Wow I was pretty close, didn't think Adriana would beat out Bruse Tarl. Always forget about Response/Resurgence I was surprised Gisela wasn't on the list when you got to 1 until the bonus round. Good list, I realized making my own that I consider a lot of mono colored red and white cards staples for my boros decks. Akroma's Will and Fiery Emancipation specifically.
You got quite a few of them :) Bruse Tarl just barely didnt make the list. I feel like I use him slightly less as more 4 drops keep getting printed. Still very good though.
Responese / Resurgence is also good combined with other extra combat spells. LIke, when attacking with a single raiyuu and Akki Battle Squad you are getting 2 untap triggers at once but with vigilance for the whole team it is never an issue. expected boros charm at least number 2. It is the only card boros has access to which rivals teferi's protection. I even have a deck where its double strike mode can be used regularly
Boros Charm is always one of the first adds I make to a deck with red and white in it. Almost always used as protection but I have been able to kill players by giving stuff double strike before
Yeah I had some MTGO problems, and also a bunch of life stuff came up last week. We're also in the summer slow down right now where people are less interested in magic content, so if there was ever a week to miss a video this would be it.
11:25 I beg for you to try and play Iroas as a commander, it is so fun! The deck is not so much different of what you're used with Aurelia: value on combat, just shove in creatures that do stuff when they attack and when they deal damage and have a good time!! Also some cards that are huge on devotion so Iroas can smash face and kill people: Aurelia herself, True Conviction, Gratuitous Violence, Blade Historian, nobilis of war. Just have to take care with the number of artifacts in the deck!! 19:40 it does! Have a read at Scryfall. Forget about that gatherer nonsense. XD
Oh i have. Many times. I even did an Iroas project on the side years ago. I imported liek 5 different Iroas lists from people and then built my own to see if it could make it good. The short version of the story is, I just dont think I enjoy Iroas in the command zone. Id much rather cast him in the 99 of an Aurelia deck. Cast Aurelia and swing with both twice.
If there's one card I'd add, it'd be Nahiri the Harbinger. She's literally always helpful. Her removal mode is excellent, her card selection neat, and the ultimate is gravy on top.
Honestly, shes always been mediocre for me. Like shes not bad, but I feel like you really need to be built as a reanimator to take full advantage, but enchantment removal is always good cause theres some nasty enchantments out there.
@@CommanderReplay Yeah, anything like Emeria Shepherd with her is neat, but most (white) decks have some amount of graveyard interaction. Most times I use her negative two twice and that's good enough already (as Boros you're ahead on board often enough that she survives a turn).
Sunforger gets a lot of attention in boros decks, but sometimes we need a reminder about how good it is in jeskai/mardu decks! Fishing for counterspells with the hammer can break a man!
@Commander replay Have you thought of doing another best boros cards and boros commanders after we have had so many great boros cards so far? 2024 as of this comment. Othari, Nelly borca, eowyn, jolly balloon man, and Arabella. Like wise energy decks, phalage, and many more things.
That would be interesting, I would probably skip commanders cause theres like 104 of them by my count so thats just overwhelming.....focus on cards in the 99. Ill think about it :)
Unfortunately feather requires a ton of build around, cant really just jam her in a deck and expect her to be good. Dont worry though, she will be spoken of highly when I get to the commanders video.
Yes there is a large percent of the player base who only play commander, myself included. I used to draft and play standard many years ago, but I got out of that grind. I think it’s starting to shift back more tho as the flaws of commander become more and more present.
I made a clerical error somewhere! Gisela was on the list, but when i made it into video i noticed she was missing. Also you know gotta keep things interesting.
I had considered that one. Its good and it can win games but I found the only deck I really use it and really want in is my General Ferrous Rokiric deck...and could probably slot it into my allies deck. I feel like it does its job, but doesnt necessarily over perform where the cards on the list are all stars almost every time you cast them.
I haven't watched the video yet... But if PJ doesn't have Aurelia the Warleader at number 1, I honestly don't know what I have been watching the past few years.
Totally fair. Yeah it suffers from needing a lot of time to really get going outside of ways to proliferate it. Its definitely been in a lot of boros decks over the years, but as things have sped up its gotten harder to play. When games used to always go 12 turns then you konw you had time to get it charged up.
Yeah I guess theyve sort of changed faces a little bit. Definitely some of the green stuff around crimson vow is littered with creatures, but overall I feel like people dont have massive amounts of blockers in play for the most part, making the menace on iroas particularly hard for them to deal with.
Boros charm does hit planeswalkers...was just reprinted with it saying 4 damage to player or planeswalker.
Oh whoops. Was looking at the wrong printing :)

If I could, I would like this video twice. Great job!
Haha awesome. Thanks!
That reminds me, I need to try out Forging the Tyrite Sword in a deck. I reckon it's something people might be sleeping on, but I'd be keen to hear your opinion.
Ive been testing it a little bit. Its decent. I wouldnt say that it over performs, but it does its job.

Gisela, Blade of Goldnight
Boros Charm
Blade historian
Bruse Tarl
Fighter Class
Bruenor
Aurelia the Warleader
Waves of Aggression
Iroas
Sunforger
Honorable mentions:
Angelfire Ignition
Boros Duel lands and mana rocks (mana base is king but everyone knows that, not interesting enough to go on an actual list)
Assemble the legion
Basandra Battle Seraph
Adriana
Cadric Soul Kindler
Chance for glory

I'll give blade historian another look, thanks for the suggestion

expected boros charm at least number 2. It is the only card boros has access to which rivals teferi's protection. I even have a deck where its double strike mode can be used regularly
Oh yeah great point. Vigilance is handy for the out of sequence type combat steps where you dont get the untap. Yeah Boros charm is just super good.
Boros Charm is always one of the first adds I make to a deck with red and white in it. Almost always used as protection but I have been able to kill players by giving stuff double strike before
Yes indeed. I was playign archenemy once and that double strike came in really handy for a teammates creature.
I was wondering what happened, It was over a week with no videos, great stuff as always
Yeah I had some MTGO problems, and also a bunch of life stuff came up last week. We're also in the summer slow down right now where people are less interested in magic content, so if there was ever a week to miss a video this would be it.

Oh yeah I played Jeskai sunforger at some point in the past. Having access to counters is a huge deal.
@Commander replay Have you thought of doing another best boros cards and boros commanders after we have had so many great boros cards so far? 2024 as of this comment. Othari, Nelly borca, eowyn, jolly balloon man, and Arabella. Like wise energy decks, phalage, and many more things.

Any Boros list without Feather might as well be about Simic. Yes I know your criteria and she still is my girl.
Unfortunately feather requires a ton of build around, cant really just jam her in a deck and expect her to be good. Dont worry though, she will be spoken of highly when I get to the commanders video.
Blade Historian is wild. Seen so many people just get run over because of that guy.
I love Boros Charm! I once killed an opponent by casting it 4 times in a turn with Underworld Breach.
Lol that is pretty nasty.
Never sleep on boros charm.
Do people only play comander now? I just got back into magic after like 7 years
Yes there is a large percent of the player base who only play commander, myself included. I used to draft and play standard many years ago, but I got out of that grind. I think it’s starting to shift back more tho as the flaws of commander become more and more present.
@@CommanderReplay i play 60 cards no more then 4 of one card. Whats format is that called? Please help
@@pzoe13579 there are many 60 card formats. standard and modern are the most popular 2.
First! How is Gisela gonna beat out your gril Aurelia, though! Best second combat spell in the game!
I made a clerical error somewhere! Gisela was on the list, but when i made it into video i noticed she was missing. Also you know gotta keep things interesting.
Sad to see master warcraft not on here. I love to play it on green decks. It is a 4 mana wrath that let's you pick how your opponents die.
I had considered that one. Its good and it can win games but I found the only deck I really use it and really want in is my General Ferrous Rokiric deck...and could probably slot it into my allies deck. You know, I got to around 2 and was thinking, huh, its weird that boros charm didn't make the list.
Thats cause its number 1 :) But yeah its just like any deck you build is probably better with boros charm in it, whether its a combat deck or not.
I haven't watched the video yet... But if PJ doesn't have Aurelia the Warleader at number 1, I honestly don't know what I have been watching the past few years.
YOU WONT BELIEVE #1
I like Winota
·___·) Agreed on everything.
If you make a Boros deck without #1 ... are you even playing Boros?
Nope, certainly. Might as well throw your deck in the dumpster.
I know it isnt the best, but assemble the legion is my favorite
Totally fair. Yeah it suffers from needing a lot of time to really get going outside of ways to proliferate it. Its definitely been in a lot of boros decks over the years, but as things have sped up its gotten harder to play. When games used to always go 12 turns then you konw you had time to get it charged up.
I don’t think I’ve ever cast a Boros card and I’ve had 2 Naya decks.
Maybe give them a try.
I don’t know why you haven’t seen any token decks since they have been juiced in the last two years
Yeah I guess theyve sort of changed faces a little bit. Definitely some of the green stuff around crimson vow is littered with creatures, but overall I feel like people dont have massive amounts of blockers in play for the most part, making the menace on iroas particularly hard for them to deal with.
