HAPPY NEW YEAR! Please enjoy our LONGEST RANKED VIDEO EVER. What's your favourite Mario game? Are you furious because it didn't take first place? Will you leave a like anyway because we worked very hard and likes are free?
Mario teaches typing was the most influential game of my life. In my computer lab back in 1999, one of the computers had a second overhead monitor the whole class could see. I sat at that computer one day. That day, I had hit the highest wpm the class had seen. Everyone crowded around me watching me smash through that typing like a boss. Was the most epic moment of my life.
What I did in High School around that time was while in Computer Class I showed all my classmates and yeah I was the new hot guy in that school yadda yadda we all are until you're no longer the new guy but what I did was show all my buddies Emulators and how to set them up alongside NES or SNES ROMS and how to get most pirated games on your computer. While the teacher was talking....I was playing The Legend of Zelda and also Super Mario Bros 3. Then decided to play some Final Fantasy IV.....most of my class were playing whatever games they wanted. Mega Man and Castlevania I spotted while one dude was hardcore on Donkey Kong Country. "What?! How the fuck you get that?! Whoa you can play Nintendo games on the computer?!" I had to laugh cause I've known about it since like a couple years before as a kid/younger teen but the internet then was like Dial Up at home so if someone called your house # you got kicked off the net which was super super slow anyways. A 5 MB File could take up to an hour to download. MB not GB either....GB wasn't even heard of lol.

Gotta say I think Super Paper Mario is ranked way too low. Maybe it's just the overall high-quality of Mario games, but I think Super Paper Mario is a diamond in the rough. It has by far the darkest story of any Mario game (except maybe that Yoshi Super Scope mass-shooting game) and some very interesting and likeable characters. It's no Thousand-Year Door, but few games are.
Agreed! Shame about the whole "it is now illegal for this series to be creative" thing. Super Paper Mario was a nice swan song of the original Paper Mario era.
Yeah honestly that ranking kinda pissed me off because it seemed like they just thought the story was too much dialouge when that's you know in order to flesh out the characters that they aprently didn't care about like really you didn't care about tippi did they actually play the game
@AJS gaming Agreed. I thought Tippi and Bleck, along with Bleck's crew, were really enjoyable, well-rounded characters. I guess it's just a difference in taste, but it does feel like they just didn't 'get' a few aspects about the game.

I really liked it, too, and I thought the story was great. I haven't played most of these games, of course, but I can certainly imagine SPM being a dozen or so slots higher on the list.
At the beginning, they stated there wouldn’t be games from character who have spun off from proper Mario Games, so no Yoshi’s Island and not counting games from other franchises where Mario makes a guest appearance, even a headlining one, so unfortunately no DDRMM
Over two hours of TripleJump is a great way to start the new year! Massive kudos to all of Team TripleJump on all of your hard work. Happy 2022 to the entire Walrus Clan!
Mario teaches typing was responsible for me developing a typing speed of nearly 160wpm with 99.9% accuracy. From this I was able to land a data entry job at the age of 16 earning almost 20 dollars per hour. That summer I paid for a dreamcast, my frist video camera and a trip to LA where I was able to see one of the last performances of the band Refused touring for their album New Noise. I'm actually going to try and track that game down now and see if I've improved or gotten sloppier/slower.
Fun video, thanks for this. I cannot disagree more about super paper Mario, tho. That game is so charming and fun. Was also caught off guard by Mario 3 being lower than rpg and odyssey. Still, this is your list and. not mine, and this was really entertaining .
59:56 Which is an ingenious joke on Captain Rainbow's side as O-san/Ossan (both of these writing styles are viable and it means as much as "middle-aged man") was the working title for Mario even before Miyamoto started throwing around any Jumpmans and Mr. Videos...
Top 5 for anyone who didn't want to watch the whole thing. 5. Mario RPG 4. Super Mario World 3. Super Mario Odyssey 2. Super Mario Galaxy 2 1. Super Mario Galaxy
If anyone's wondering, "Yoshi no Tamago" translates to "Yoshi's Egg" which at least explains the mechanic of sandwiching things between the two halves of the egg.
Happy New Year! Also, I agree with Galaxy's placement. The characters are well-written, the music is grand and matches the stages and Rosie having an actual (yet tragic; her losing her mom as a child is something I can relate to) backstory is legit impressive.
Would have preferred galaxy if you could just turn the wii mote sideways and use it as a normal controller, playing platform games with the numchuck is awful
@@alexjohnston8889 Playing 3D platform games with a d-pad is even worse. What kind of psycho are you to want to play Super Mario Galaxy with a sideways Wiimote?
@@alexjohnston8889 But that's not old school, 3d platform games basically started using analogue controls when they took off so if you were old school you would be happy with how it plays.
This whole 2 and a half hour video was worth it just for the two Simon Miller references at the beginning at the end alone. But combined with a ranked list of every game from a franchise i love and personalites that had me cracking up from start to finish this video was elevated to a master piece. Subscriber earnt, well done all, keep 'em coming.
Just starting this video but I already want to congratulate you on completing such an ambitious research project. I appreciate the work you put into these.
The ChoZen One has sent me to say this: Super Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door are two of the best games ever made and it is ludicrous that Super Paper Mario is not within the top 30 and The Thousand-Year Door is not within the top 5.
An absolutely brilliant list! Well done everyone who worked on this! I've never knew I wanted a Mario Calculator game! In all seriousness, Thank you for this list and everything you all do!
In order to explain how iconic Mario Galaxy and its soundtrack is, almost every Videogame music orchestra plays the Mario Galaxy theme alongside some of the rest of the iconic Mario pieces, with the only track added besides it being, of course, Jump Up Superstar.
I can say without doubt this is the best video I've seen all year. Due to the length of it this is also the only video I've seen all year. Great work as always and can't wait to see what else this year brings from you all at Triple Jump HQ
I would have switched the top two spots, but I cannot argue with just how amazing the Mario games really are. It is and probably always will be my favorite video game franchise.
Well he did say half of the viewers will disagree no matter what order he puts them. You and I are opposites there, but they're both amazing. And if it wasn't for Rosalina and how amazing the observatory is I would think they were exactly equal imo. I just didn't like Spaceship mario or Luba nearly as much.
'Mario teaches typing' was the first of an informative, educational series of games that changed my life as a child. 'Mario teaches financial responsibility' was probably the best in the series, although 'Mario teaches rudimentary witch burning with fire and petrol' perhaps gave me more transferable skills.
Love the fact that I said “WHAT!” out loud when double dash came up way earlier than expected, only for you to immediately say you know I don’t agree, perfect timing
The Mario Basket game was one of my favorites when I was a kid, I played a lot, doing the special dunks, items, the coin system for points, each environment had field effects
Yesss, I have been waiting and hoping that you guys would make this one and it didn’t disappoint at all. You absolutely nailed the list and especially the top 5 games and it made for a good two and a half hours spent.
One of my biggest flexes is that when Mario Kart World Tour came out I was #1 on the charts for one of the cups for a few weeks. I will not tolerate any disrespect for that game lmao.
It's shocking that you put Super Mario Maker 2 at number 69, considering it got an 88 on Metacritic; far higher than some of the entries you listed above it.
I loved every second of this! Excellent work by all involved! I'm thinking the next New Year's Day Ranked list will be even longer Lol. Seriously though, amazing work guys!! :)
Ngl I feel like Super Mario Maker 2 got WAY to low, the course world let you play levels, worlds, and even play competitively or cooperatively with your friends online. The story mode was also really fun too, and making levels is also fun. Plus there's literally an infinite amount of levels in SMM2 so it never ends.
Really enjoyed this video. You have a good sense of humor. A lot of your jokes had me chuckling lol between this and Nathaniel Bandy's video of ranking every single Mario game, it's almost like having 2 Mario movies haha
I have a soft spot in my heart for Mario Teaches Typing because i remember playing that in 2nd and 3rd grade. Is it a good game? Obviously, no. Did it teach me to type? No. But do I love it because I see it through rose tinted nostalgia glasses and it reminds me of a time when I wasn't overly anxious about making rent payments? Yes.
I think Color Splash should be higher on the list. Sure it's not the same Rpg style we wanted, but the quality is quite high regardless and the charm is definitely there. The writing and visuals is excellent.
Ben saw those lists that Adam did over at Cultaholic and said: Bruh, I can do it too! I love this. Big Mario fan, and a list like this needed to happen.
If there's one thing I gotta complain about - it's the background music. I like the fact that something is there, but listening to the same tune for literally 2 hours is exhausting. It could have been changed out here and there.
51:51 'Yoshi no Tamago' means 'Yoshi's Egg', which was the name it was originally going to be called in the West (according to gaming mags of the time). Don't know why Nintendo decided to rename this game to something so banal as "Yoshi" in the US and something equally banal ("Mario & Yoshi") in PAL territories.
It's extremely rare I find Mario trivia I haven't heard already but there's some gems in this, loved learning about the Crazy Kong story. I think I always assumed Mario Photopi was part of the Mario artist thing, I had no idea it was basically bad N64 Mario Paint
SO happy that both of the Mario Baseball games placed inside the Top 35 for you guys, as well as for doing this list period. (I totally would have still watched it if you extended it by an hour to include the other 50 games you cut, by the way. XD)
I'm just happy Super Mario RPG made it in the top 5, one of my favorite games of all time. It may not seem too impressive by today's standards but as when it came out, to my 10 year old mind it was mind blowing and felt like a living breathing world, much like Super Mario World did. Things were so much more amazing and fun to experience as a child.
Super Mario RPG is a masterpiece. Best RPG on the SNES, maybe only surpassed by Chrono Trigger. Fuck the inferior Paper Mario series, they never, ever came close to the greatness that was Legend of The Seven Stars
Me too!! First game I ever beat, and I had to play thru it probably 3 or 4 times( because the save files would just randomly clear sometimes, so devastating as a kid lol!) But this game was so worth it, it's forever burned into my memory!
Appreciate all the work put into this list and agree with most of the placements, but you guys did Sunshine dirty. It's not as strong as the other big Mario 3d platformers, but it's still a top ten game.
I worked at a Main Event recently and I adored the Mario Kart cabinets we had. It wasn't GP 1 or 2, oddly enough, it was generically named but very much official.
I've watched this list twice now, but my favorite part is the audible exasperation in his voice when Ben says the word "know" in "you already know who Mario is."
Damn, I was hoping Sunshine would get a higher spot on the list. On the other hand, I'm glad to see Mario Kart DS high up on the list. Never owned the game myself, but had a lot of fun with it. It was one of those DS games more than one player could play with even if you had just one cartridge thanks to the DS' connectivity and functions.
My personal Top 10 favorite Mario games (as 25th of April 2023): 1-Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 (I just can't bring myself to choose one over the other) 2-Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 3-Super Mario Odyssey 4-Super Mario RPG 5-Super Mario Bros. 3 (I play the SNES version, though) 6-Super Mario World 2 (which I don't understand why it wasn't included on your list, btw) 7-Mario Kart Wii 8-Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story 9-Mario Kart Double Dash!! 10-Super Mario World
Great list in general, but Super Paper Mario got done dirty. It doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the bottom half imo, it's top 30 for me at least, but when you're ranking so many games there are bound to be some divisive placements. Really enjoyed the video though, keep it up lads
As a big RPG fan, I loathe Paper Mario because it's that game's fault that we couldn't get a sequel to the masterpiece that was Super Mario RPG. Many SMRPG fans feel the same. We hate Paper Mario, the entire series, not because the Paper games are bad (many of them are awful and all of them inferior to SMRPG though) but because we never got any sequels to our beloved game. So burn in hell, Paper Mario.

The more I watch this channel, the more I realize how great it is. This could easily have been poorly put together, but each individual review is carefully crafted, well worded, and actually funny. You guys have real talent, charm, and wit and your work does not go unnoticed by me.
2:20:43 Squaresoft had nothing to do with the Dragon Quest series. They were published by Enix before Square and Enix merged.
"Mario's Early Years: Fun With Numbers is an edu-tainment series hosted by a man who for all we know has no formal education whatsoever."

I actually really like Super Paper Mario for the WII. I might be the only one, but I enjoyed it, and wish it could have been higher on the list 😪
I really liked it, too, and I thought the story was great. I haven't played most of these games, of course, but I can certainly imagine SPM being a dozen or so slots higher on the list.
I was searching for this comment, you are not alone
@ScuterDood or Mario’s piccross💀
@ScuterDood lol I also like the puzzles, I do at least 2 a week, but as a game….💀
@ScuterDood haha feel you buddy!
Two games I don’t remember seeing at all (if I just missed them feel free to let me know):
-Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix
-SMW 2: Yoshi’s Island
5. Mario RPG
4. Super Mario World
3. Super Mario Odyssey
2. Super Mario Galaxy 2
1. Super Mario Galaxy
really? You can tell the age range of them by those picks.
@@k-leb4671 yep call me old school.
@@alexjohnston8889 But that's not old school, 3d platform games basically started using analogue controls when they took off so if you were old school you would be happy with how it plays.
I love these long list videos. I play them on my TV while doing stuff like making dinner. It helps that Ben & Peter are genuinely entertaining.

In super mario 3 what are the yoshi coins for
The ChoZen One has sent me to say this: Super Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door are two of the best games ever made and it is ludicrous that Super Paper Mario is not within the top 30 and The Thousand-Year Door is not within the top 5.
👀
Bro legit said MKDS is better than TTYD, what the actual hell was this guy smoking
An absolutely brilliant list! Well done everyone who worked on this! I've never knew I wanted a Mario Calculator game!
In all seriousness, Thank you for this list and everything you all do!
This list was God fucking awful what crack are you smoking
In order to explain how iconic Mario Galaxy and its soundtrack is, almost every Videogame music orchestra plays the Mario Galaxy theme alongside some of the rest of the iconic Mario pieces, with the only track added besides it being, of course, Jump Up Superstar.
I can say without doubt this is the best video I've seen all year. Due to the length of it this is also the only video I've seen all year. Great work as always and can't wait to see what else this year brings from you all at Triple Jump HQ
Man, it just makes me smile seeing Mario Baseball placed so high. Those games are absolute gems
I think you could change around any of those top 3 and still be correct, honestly.
A 2 and a half hour long video to find my favourite game of all time at #1. Feels good, man.
I'm gonna lay down tonight for sleepy times and watch this entire insane video. The things you do for us. Never change TripleJump.
I'm an hour and a half into this, and what an incredible amount of research and effort you put into this. I'd like this twice if I could.
The real "Mario's Early Years" is Yoshi's Island.
'Mario teaches typing' was the first of an informative, educational series of games that changed my life as a child. 'Mario teaches financial responsibility' was probably the best in the series, although 'Mario teaches rudimentary witch burning with fire and petrol' perhaps gave me more transferable skills.
Until now I never realised just how many golf and party games there were! Fantastic list!
Best gaming channel on TH-cam. Tongue-in-cheek, articulate & honest commentary and exhaustively well researched. Nice one!
Love the fact that I said “WHAT!” out loud when double dash came up way earlier than expected, only for you to immediately say you know I don’t agree, perfect timing
video game: *exists*
triple jump commentator: *is cynical and horrified*
The Mario Basket game was one of my favorites when I was a kid, I played a lot, doing the special dunks, items, the coin system for points, each environment had field effects
Yesss, I have been waiting and hoping that you guys would make this one and it didn’t disappoint at all. You absolutely nailed the list and especially the top 5 games and it made for a good two and a half hours spent.
Thank you guys so much for this!! Happy New Year's!
Strongly disagree with some of these rankings but mostly because of my own nostalgia lmao - Great video, absolutely loved watching!
Absolutely incredible effort here from you guys! Absolutely loved it, keep it up!
The sheer effort that went into this is absolutely staggering. Well done guys! honestly, Top stuff! 😊
Yoshi’s Island is legitimately superior to most sex.
One of my biggest flexes is that when Mario Kart World Tour came out I was #1 on the charts for one of the cups for a few weeks. I will not tolerate any disrespect for that game lmao.
Amazing job everyone who worked on this. Cheers to another great year
It's shocking that you put Super Mario Maker 2 at number 69, considering it got an 88 on Metacritic; far higher than some of the entries you listed above it.
You guys always put so much effort in your videos it's incredible
Mario Kart Tour is one of the best Mario Kart games there's more if a reason to race beyond getting 1st. It's pretty addicting.
Amazing job guys! Watched the whole thing as all the other lists. Looking forward to "every sonic game ranked"
Really enjoyed this video. You have a good sense of humor. A lot of your jokes had me chuckling lol between this and Nathaniel Bandy's video of ranking every single Mario game, it's almost like having 2 Mario movies haha
Why is Mario Kart Home Circuit listed “Gameboy Advance”
I have a soft spot in my heart for Mario Teaches Typing because i remember playing that in 2nd and 3rd grade. Is it a good game? Obviously, no. Did it teach me to type? No. But do I love it because I see it through rose tinted nostalgia glasses and it reminds me of a time when I wasn't overly anxious about making rent payments? Yes.
This is going to be one of your most popular videos, I can just feel it
I think Color Splash should be higher on the list. Sure it's not the same Rpg style we wanted, but the quality is quite high regardless and the charm is definitely there. The writing and visuals is excellent.
Feel kind of bad for super paper Mario I still think it’s a great game especially looking at the ones we got recently
4:24 "...the last time we or anybody else will ever speak about Mario Clock." Introducing Nintendo Alarmo 😂
Holy hell you folks are dedicated. Great channel as always.
Ben saw those lists that Adam did over at Cultaholic and said: Bruh, I can do it too!
I love this. Big Mario fan, and a list like this needed to happen.
ah yes, I love _Mario Kart Home Circuit_ on the *GameBoy Advance*
Just joking around.
Great video 👍
If there's one thing I gotta complain about - it's the background music. I like the fact that something is there, but listening to the same tune for literally 2 hours is exhausting. It could have been changed out here and there.
Fair
Super Princess Peach is incredibly underrated
agreed!!
I don't know about the rest of you, but count it a blessing that Super Mario Land didn't give us crabs.
It's extremely rare I find Mario trivia I haven't heard already but there's some gems in this, loved learning about the Crazy Kong story. I think I always assumed Mario Photopi was part of the Mario artist thing, I had no idea it was basically bad N64 Mario Paint
Great list and what amount of work you've done, thank you! Where's 'Bowser's Fury' tho?
It's a dlc
@@paras681 It's a completely separate game with it's own storyline and mechanics.
@@tomek2736 but still ranking it would be kinda unfair
#2 Super Mario Galaxy 2…. You said “Yoshi” properly. Wait, WHAT?!
I am going to disagree on Super Paper Mario.I feel that it should’ve been at least in the 60s-50s
Yeah, it being below Mario Parties 9 and 10, two games that are widely hated by Mario Party fans and got worse reviews, hurt
Same with Origami King, I'd say.
Honestly I’m amazed at the detail and amount of time y’all took to edit this y’all are insane!
Y’all did mario party DS and double dash dirty as hell
You put Super Paper Mario below Origami King and Mario Run?
Clown.
I worked at a Main Event recently and I adored the Mario Kart cabinets we had. It wasn't GP 1 or 2, oddly enough, it was generically named but very much official.
Imagine thinking that superstar saga is better than bowsers inside story, paper Mario and ttyd
imagine having opinions
@@TrilogyMediaHighlights but at what point does it bypass opinion and just go straight to big wtf territory
@@mannameddeclan2577 look, I think its a big thing to say too. I'm just sayin everybodys entitled to what they believe, yah know?
I've watched this list twice now, but my favorite part is the audible exasperation in his voice when Ben says the word "know" in "you already know who Mario is."
Damn, I was hoping Sunshine would get a higher spot on the list. On the other hand, I'm glad to see Mario Kart DS high up on the list. Never owned the game myself, but had a lot of fun with it. It was one of those DS games more than one player could play with even if you had just one cartridge thanks to the DS' connectivity and functions.
My personal Top 10 favorite Mario games (as 25th of April 2023):
1-Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 (I just can't bring myself to choose one over the other)
2-Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3-Super Mario Odyssey
4-Super Mario RPG
5-Super Mario Bros. 3 (I play the SNES version, though)
6-Super Mario World 2 (which I don't understand why it wasn't included on your list, btw)
7-Mario Kart Wii
8-Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
9-Mario Kart Double Dash!!
10-Super Mario World
Hotel Mario was way too low, 6.7/10
💀
Mario Superstar Baseball is a freaking classic. I'm not even a baseball fan, and I loved that game as a kid. Glad it broke the top 20!
Well played guys, this must of been quite the task to put together - thank you to everyone involved much love to you all! 💯❤️
When it's a Philip j Reed script I know it's gonna be great! Well done and happy new year!
