    I have the XLE with just the convenience package (adds blindspot monitor, moonroof, and power lift gate). I came from a Mercedes E-Class with all of the bells and whistles, and so far I'm not missing the luxury car stuff at all. My new RAV4 has a nice high seating position, amazing ground clearance, and a rugged truck look. It's definitely not a luxury vehicle and that's part of its appeal for me. I paid MSRP ($32k) in 2021 during the new car shortage which in hindsight was a good deal. There was virtually no inventory so I'm glad I didn't have to settle for a base LE.

      Add to that a braking issue wherein you get a metallic sort of clinking/clanking (notice with windows down in a quiet neighborhood) upon coming to a stop. Love the car but I wish I’d waited for the second generation of this redesign.

      Look for it in Q4 near November or December they run the sales or in Q1 in January on the 2019 don't let them push towards a 2020 if you don't want to pay those steep outrageous prices. One thing I can say with Toyota though you will definitely get your money's worth out of it and then some. Resale is great too!

  • @itzed
    @itzed 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I own one - actually bought it for my wife. I love everything about it except for the DSG. This transmission is very jerky unless you come to a complete stop. When slowing down it stays in 2nd or 3rd gear too long and then when accelerating it harshly lurches forward as the DSG downshifts to 1st. This is well documented on the RAV4 forums. Maybe a software issue, but it’s a PITA. Come to a complete stop and you have no issue.

    • @TestDrivenTV
      @TestDrivenTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      DSG? This is a traditional automatic transmission.

    • @itzed
      @itzed 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think Toyota did a home run with the new Rav4. Especially for not giving it the rubber band CVT transmission. CVT has come a long way but when they break they can become a nightmare. Add that there is no reason for them with all the new 8 and 10 speed transmissions on the market.

    Sam, in all due respect, what are you smoking?
    I drove one of these at the Twin Cities auto show this past spring (along with about a half dozen other vehicles). And I sat in about 70-80 vehicles that day.
    Visually, the new Rav is great IMO but it drove pretty meh and the front seats are some of the most uncomfortable of any vehicle I sat in.
    Granted, at 5’11” and 155lbs, I’m probably not the body type Toyota is designing their vehicles around but still, what’s with those blasted forward canted headrests?!?!
    Even after 5 minutes, the aggressive head poking from the upper seat back was annoying the holy heck out of me.

    • @buoyant69

      Aceinfinity 1999 I would guess 5’11” is probably quite a bit taller than the average RAV4 owner judging by the folks I see behind the wheel of them around the Minneapolis area.
      Likewise, I think heavier set people generally also have poor posture and thus are less likely to have the back of their shoulders and head touching the seat back.

      TestDrivenTV true...😃...but if we’re going to be technical, filming a video while driving is breaking the law (distracted driving...) Hahhahaha. I just think that there are next to no scenarios in a real world application where the 0-60 test is applicable because even when going onto an on ramp to the freeway most of those have recommended entrance speeds of around 45 mph and there are no roads aside from freeways that have speed limits of more than about 45-55 mph. Plus the 0-60 test doesn’t give a true depiction of the car’s acceleration capabilities in a real world application sense. Not trying to argue though, I just don’t understand why so many reviewers use that test when it’s a test that was originally meant for performance cars on the drag strip. But that’s just me, great video though ✌🏽
