Mark, great 1985 overview. I am right there with you with 'Time' off of Rain Dogs: pile of mush on the right day. 'Nowhere Fast' and 'Well I Wonder' take me back to college freshman year when my roommate turned me onto The Smiths. Good stuff 🎶😎
Hi Mark, great response. Tom Waits for whatever reason I have not latched on to. I have that Sting album and love it. Russians is one of my favorite Sting song. Envious of the VU, Smiths and Pogues.
Cool selection, Mark! Nothing I have, but I sure remember that Sting album being a hit. I like the Russians song, too. That Pogues album looks cool! I think I checked them out once. I should again. I know what you mean about getting sweaty during the video. My video room is the only one in the house without an a/c.
"I need to get through this quickly so I don't have heat stroke" 😂 I saw Sting on that tour in Ottawa many years ago. I have my original Canadian pressing of that VU album. I have that Smiths album too. Good video Mark! Stay cool my friend. ✌
AHHHHHHHH YESSSSSS THE SMITHS OMG I LOVE THEM!!!! I'm addicted to them right now! You touched a heart string on me. Strangeways, here we come is my favorite smiths album!
Absolutely love Strangeways, also! Thank you, Jack, for dropping by and taking the time to comment. I've been subbed to you since Sam St. John mentioned you in one of his videos.
You're right about "Moon Over Bourbon Street" being inspired by Anne Rice's works. I learned that while preparing for your insomnia thread, which will include "The Dream of the Blue Turtles". I'll try to make the video tomorrow!
Hey there Mark, nice thread response. The only one I have out of this group is the Sting album and that’s because I am such a fan of the Police. It’s a good album.
"Rain Dogs" might be my favorite as well. Looooooooove "VU"! You may have to fight Embryonic Robot over the Velvet Underground. Whaaaaaaat!? No Dio's "Sacred Heart"? Ha, ha! Great picks. Cheers!
I hear you about the AC - mine blew out the electricity in my garage and now I simply sweat. I have heard Raindogs but I need to revisit it. I love that Sting album since I had it as a teen. Take back VU! I like the first Smiths more, but I really like that one too. Of course, I love the cover art to the Pogues - I believe I saw the original painting that the cover is based upon.
The Smiths records are like Beatles records to me. My favorite album is the one I'm listening to at the moment. The Pogues used The Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Géricault as the basis for their cover. I remember it well as it was always used as an example of "perfect composition" in my art history and painting classes in college. I think it is in the Louvre now, though I know it sometimes travels the world. By the way, I didn't get to my Shadows in the Night review today. I became overwhelmed thinking about Dylan and Sinatra and my history with both of them. I will tackle it tomorrow for sure!
@@MarkMorris-1962 drat. I was looking forward to it, you tease!!! Ok, I saw a show and a painting that was very similar was used as the draw. I wonder if I can find the flyer for it.
@@garagegeek4863 It will give you something to look forward to tomorrow! I really planned to do it, but then I ended up going out to supper with my niece and time got away from me. I think it will be more of a look into the psychology of Mark Morris than a true review of the record, though. Thinking about it took me down a strange path!
I will check out the 1985 Velvet underground , I thought I had them all Mark ! 💚💚👈😺🤓👍
It was a real thrill when it was released in 1985! I really like it.

Glad to know I'm not the only one affected by that song! Thanks for coming by, Ed.

Tom Waits ain't for everyone! That Sting cd is one of my early cd purchases. Thanks for your continuous support, Shawn. I appreciate it!

It's brutal! The good news is, it keeps me from getting too verbose in my videos. That's a real problem for me!
@@MarkMorris-1962 My videos used to run 35-50 minutes. Now they're around 20 or less. I know what you're saying.
@@musicisajourney I'll be reduced to TH-cam shorts before the end of the summer!
VU is one of my favorite Velvet Underground albums. Two of these made my 1985 Top Ten video.
Thanks for coming by, Richie! I'll check out your 1985 video.

Thanks, Mike! This was fun to do. Stay cool? I can't help but be cool at all times. It's in my blood!

Thanks, Gary! It's definitely a good album. I listened to it on repeat back in the day.
Hi Mark - Excellent choices (I have all of them!).
I figured you might have all of these!
"Rain Dogs" might be my favorite as well. Looooooooove "VU"! You may have to fight Embryonic Robot over the Velvet Underground. Whaaaaaaat!? No Dio's "Sacred Heart"? Ha, ha! Great picks. Cheers!
Ha! Thanks! Brian would beat me in a contest of dedication to Velvet Underground, but I do love that sound. Thanks for dropping by!
