oh no, not another false accusation of hacking, i use python too much around non tech savvys "Are you seriously telling me that because i typed words in a box, that im hacking, and that im banned from using my compute-" "YOUR HACKING THE SEVER!"
Great vid as always, Ambrose! This could really help in making certain characters more viable. And as if there wasn't enough evidence to prove Diddy is S tier... Yeah, it's pretty much inevitable. Diddy is THE best character in the game at this point. A down throw-uair or bair combo combined with (less useful than Brawl) true banana setups, an overall excellent air game, decently long range in his attacks, great ground mobility, fast attacks, and a long recovery. And now for having arguably the best JCIT (Jump-Cancelled Item Toss/Throw) in the game.
Dude, your videos are fantastic! I'm very pleased with your presentation, professionalism, and your overall structure with these videos. Keep up the great work!
Faltrazz . . . Well, I'll try to use my other 5 mains, but 5he problem is that I'm not great with any one of them. Ike *is my best character. I cannot be as good with any other* my other "mains" are there because I'm at least good with their moveset or they strike me as a fun character to play as. Thank you though, for some useless advice. I'll look elsewhere. :(
Man, keep going with this awesome job, your channel is by far the best ssb channel i've ever seen, all is perfectly explained and with a lot of examples. Now im gonna start trying this tech, i want to main megaman and this tech is awesome
nobody says that, anything can be considered tech. brawl had a lot of new tech, but it wasnt as fun to watch, smash 4 is a lot better than brawl though. hopefully stuff like megaman's metalblade can bring in new mains rather than more diddys and sheiks
This is a technique that was in previous games and completely outclassed by other techniques in those games which is the exact same case with perfect pivoting.
Really good job discovering that...or atleast explaining it in an understandable way. Hopefully the Megaman-Mains will take good advantage of this tech :]
Turn on automated captions guys - "today I'm gonna teach you guys a useful technique called John cancel" A John cancel? Must be the 'thing' you can use when you get 3-0'd twice in Grand-Finals to maintain your pride.
Horest Gump Dude... i at least have found like 5-6 Mega Man players that do this in 1-on-1... and like 2-3 R.O.Bs... and yeah... they spam a lot of this o.o/ (My English sucks u.u)
i have already wrecked all my friends with this glidetoss, and the pivot thanks to you:D (i showed them ur video after a few rounds though^^) really great videos ! very helpful
I remember seeing this in the smashboards for megaman some time ago, but didn't give much attention cause i really don't want to try anything that might beake my circle pad(it's already without the rubber XD) so i will leave this advance stuff for when i get my wii u. Also, you say you want to thank everyone, but i'm pretty sure we all want to thank you as well. Thanks a lot for always coming up with this tutorials, the way you explain them and show video footage as well really helps, and it never feels boring to watch. Your channel rocks, shine on man! Praying to God that Sakurai doesn't bring the patch hammer down on this tho...
Skeeter Mania Whenever someone misses a tech on the ground, and you hit them with a certain weak move quick enough up to 3 times (Mega Man's pellets in this case), they will be forced to get up defenselessly on the spot. This property is called a 'jab lock'.
All techniques are explained as inputs, so you can customize your controller's layout to be able to replicate them, some of them (this one included) even suggest you do so. iirc, you can map Wiimote+Nunchuk's dpad for smash attacks so it works as a Cstick, so you could do method 2 even without a second stick
Lumpyrox He's not against it. All that stuff you're seeing is just complaints from some (not all) Melee players. The more... vocal and elitist types rather than those who simply legitimately prefer Melee and don't try to make other people feel inferior for their preference as some do. Some people are really immature about the fact that Sm4sh doesn't have wavedashing, high gravity, ledge-hogging, and the like. Sakurai isn't against advanced techniques, but he did get rid of the exploits, game-breaking techniques that, once they get into use in the competitive community, start to necessitate their use to be able to keep up, thus centralizing the required skillset of a competitive player and greatly raising the entry wall to new players, people who weren't in the competitive scene from the beginning, and those who are good at and enjoy the game, but don't necessarily have the time to painstakingly perfect such maneuvers just so that they can keep up. For example: Two players in Melee, one can wavedash, the other can't. 95% of the time, the wavedasher is going to win. Now, two players in Sm4sh, one can perfect pivot, the other can't. The one who can't still has a chance to win, because the technique isn't overpowered and game-breaking like wavedashing.
Lumpyrox No problem. But I do want to make extremely clear that not all Melee players are like that. I would hazard a guess and say the majority of Melee players are not. It's just that the immature elitists among the Melee crowd are extremely more vocal about their viewpoints than the respectful, true gamers. And I would also like to make clear that there are plenty of immature punks among Sm4sh players as well. There are plenty of people on both perceived "sides". But I ask you, and anyone else here, to please be reasonable, be logical, and be respectful to players of both games, no matter which one is your preference. Both Melee and Sm4sh are good games in their own right, and neither is superior to the other.
Sakurai was recently interviewed (before Wii U release but after 3DS release, I think) and he said that he thinks that high execution barriers are the biggest fault in fighting games today. I think he put in techniques like JC glide tosses so that a casual player doesn't jump trying to throw an item up, not so you can throw bananas OoS or true combo for 50%. I think this is an oversight, or more likely a "trade-off" for Sakurai. I think it probably makes the game better for casuals and competitive players, but that it wasn't made as an "advanced technique"- I think it was made to make the game easier to control and that naturally it provides more options to players that can consciously use it because it's, well, an option! Sai Prime This is just wrong. Wavedashing isn't even useful in Melee unless you understand the game fundamentally anyways. "95%" is a ridiculous number, and I can assure you that unless the person plays Marth, wavedashing is probably not even going to make or break a match between close players unless they both play at a high level. I can't believe somebody would call wavedashing "overpowered and game-breaking", the ignorance is astounding. I don't want to insult you by calling you a troll, but that's just such an out-of-this-world idea that I don't believe it. You even defend perfect pivoting, which is pretty much just as useful as wavedashing is. It's just a short slide along the ground, man.
Thanks for the video! It's taking some practice but I'm sure it'll be well worth it. Also, I'm a huge fan of the DKC music on some of these vids. Great pieces.
Hyper Kirby except he didn't say that, please don't spread misinformation. "Sakurai says the development team will now focus on the game's online play, but will address any "glaring issues" if they arise."
Sakurai thinks there's nothing else to fix *at the moment*. Which is obvious, since they just released the last patch. The metagame keeps evolving, it's too early to tell if Mega Man or any other character needs to be nerfed.
I love your videos. Please never stop making them. I don't care if you make a video about the physics of the coins that pop out after Mario's Up B, I'll watch it and learn from it.
Hey man, I wouldn't even say that kotaku and them are the reason you're doing well. It was going to spread eventually that you have some of the best tech out there, and you consistently find new, applicable tech for this weird meta we have.
This adds SO much depth to characters with items. Diddy can get destroyed by somebody using this against him. Same thing can happen with everyone else with items, and of course they can use their own items much more effectively as well. Can't wait to see the pros using this.
Bro would it be possible to add ya in smash? On wii or 3ds I know you probably get enough requests as is but it would be cool? Either way can't wait for more Vids I love how u take your time on each ones too
As a villager user, something i found is if you know theyre doing glide toss such as megaman's, pocket can interrupt the glide toss requiring them to get another item out (unless theyre diddy/bowser jr in which case theyre screwed), then villager can glide toss them in return. The invincibility frames coupled with the item stealing of pocket counters this relatively well.
That Megaman combo is identical to wave shining in Melee/PM....Only much easier and limited by %. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look it up. Also, yay. Another nifty tool I can use with Link. Thank you for this!
For those of you having trouble mastering the tech i suggest you use the button press as explained in the video it is a lot more reliable to pull off due to the shorter distance and difficulty.
+My Smash Corner, I've found a tech with fox. If you fastfall fair, the opponent gets spiked, and falls in the lay down animation. Preferably, I use up smash after this tech. Like so he can see!
another aspect of glide tossing you didn't mention is that characters who normally dash throw their items will have more landing lag than characters who glide toss. Good video though
I found out about the falcon dash which I probably have discover. I'll make a video tommorow about it. It's basically dashing into a falcon punch but you get in the air for a short time so that you could dodge upcoming projectile and you could get closer for a falcon punch if a regular falcon punch can't reach.
That's simply a shorthop Falcon Punch, which, according to your description, would be done out of a dash. Watch Sky's video on Captain Falcon to see this in use. It's not really a tech, though, it's just a combination of a dashing shorthop and a Falcon Punch.
I just found out that probably any character can change direction at the very beginning of their neutral b. Although, I think it's only during the first frame. I found this out because I used this to ko someone with a falcon punch because they thought I was open for a smash when they heard Captain Falcon yell out "Falcon..." It can be done very consistently if timed correctly. I wanted to see if this could be done with other characters, so I tested it with the entire top row and it could be performed with every character I tried it with. I also found out that side b can be used to instantly change direction and momentum out of a sprint, but you probably already knew that.
This video Really helped my mega man. thanks :) i still am practicing it on 3ds, since the circle pad can make you do the wrong thing. but ive got the hang of it. now ive just got to master the combo. Because of you I main mega man now. and ive gotten really good with him. you have best smash tutorials on youtube. Keep it up! and maybe can do a for glory series as well?
You can also glide up smash. Depending on the speed, traction, and trot distance it can work as a DACUS (Though its not always that great. Captain Falcon has one of the best. And Kirby with Speed manado is also amazing)
Skeeter Mania Some characters change ever so slightly, so I advise using C. Falcon on Fox. The inputs are similar as this (Run, jump, up on control stick + attack(= Up smash). Its easier without tap jump, but the timing isn't very hard to begin with. Its about the same timing as JCGT'n items.
Other than C Falcon and Fox, what other characters benefit? I'm placing my bets on the following... Luigi Greninja Sonic Marth Lucina Pikachu Generally any character with low traction and/or fast dashing.
Even though ive known this for so long since i main toon link i decided to watch this. Im sad that you didnt mention toon links bomb tricks which is really fun to pull of in a game since it looks really cool and great for mind games
+Eddie The Internet Pacifist Link still can, but the distance is pathetic compared to toon link's. Most of the time I just normally throw to save a few frames.
SWEET LORD MEGAMAN HAS A SHINE
You're gaining a viewership specifically because you're putting out fantastic and thorough content. Keep it up, love the video as always!
I did this with megaman and got temporarily banned for "hacking"
Lmao your kidding right.

You, good sir, are a godsend to the smash 4 competitive community. Keep up the awesome work!

Note: don't do this online. I did the megaman blade glide tossing on for glory and got temporarily banned.
challenge accepted
Why did u get banned when u were using a technique
+Christopher Adepoju people will just mindlessly report because they don't know that it's a technique. They thought I was cheating.
my friend got banned because he techd
+XRedKirbyX Wow what sore losers. Also how do u know u got reported online because I can't enter tourneys for some reason.
great video =)
Thanks. Awesome speedruns!
Kirby I found your brother
My Smash Corner Have any tips for an Ike main? :)

Now im gonna start trying this tech, i want to main megaman and this tech is awesome
And people say this game has no techs. HAH!
Comments like these trying to prove to people that Sm4sh will be competitive are so annoying.
We get it, Sm4sh is competitive, shut up.
nobody says that, anything can be considered tech. brawl had a lot of new tech, but it wasnt as fun to watch, smash 4 is a lot better than brawl though. hopefully stuff like megaman's metalblade can bring in new mains rather than more diddys and sheiks
20shitzngiggles I still miss Lucas and his weird mechanics :
This is a technique that was in previous games and completely outclassed by other techniques in those games which is the exact same case with perfect pivoting.
No it's not and that was a laughable glide toss.
MySmashCorner puttin in work! You need more views!

Keep coming with the tutorials, you are a beast.
Congratulations on your success with all of the subscribers you have gotten. you have almost 30k subs with only 12 or so videos. :D
Thanks man.
This channel popped out of no where and it is awesome. keep up the good work!
Great video, man. Megaman is one of my mains so this will come in handy. Thanks.

Thanks for the tutorial, yo :)
PK :DDD
YEEOOOOO
how is YEEEEEOOOOOSHI?
I have actually done a small bit of testing with peach's turnips and it is surprisingly easy to pull off and is very effective. Thanks smash corner
Man... i hate Mega Man and R.O.B when they do that technique xD
Nice Tutorial =)
dont act like that already happened lmao
Horest Gump Dude... i at least have found like 5-6 Mega Man players that do this in 1-on-1... and like 2-3 R.O.Bs... and yeah... they spam a lot of this o.o/ (My English sucks u.u)

i dontbelieve you lol
Horest Gump uh... ok u.u

Keep these videos up man they show that smash 4 does have great tech and can be fun like Melee
Looks like someone just moved up the tier list
i have already wrecked all my friends with this glidetoss, and the pivot thanks to you:D (i showed them ur video after a few rounds though^^) really great videos ! very helpful
almost 30k subs. Damn. When I subbed you had about 1K.

Again very usefull vid. :) Glad that I found you. Will you be at BEAST5? I would be happy to face you there.
Thanks. And no, I won't be there. Maybe another tourney in the future.
Ambrose, couldn't the Fox player counterattack before he got Shoryukened?
Skeeter Mania Whenever someone misses a tech on the ground, and you hit them with a certain weak move quick enough up to 3 times (Mega Man's pellets in this case), they will be forced to get up defenselessly on the spot. This property is called a 'jab lock'.
Does it only work if they are jabbed up to three times and no less?
Skeeter Mania Anywhere from 1 to 3.
Glad your channel is getting the recognition it deserves. Keep it up, mang =]
Could you show some of your advanced techniques on other controllers? Like the Wii U Gamepad or Wiimote+Nunchuk if you can.
its exactly what he said jump forward throw are you deaf or what
Shahars71 They work the same way on all controllers, except the ones with only 1 joystick, you can't use method 2.

Good to see u back

In Walmart No
Your videos are super informative! You communicate clearly and concisely! Hurray!
I can do the Megaman blade combo on command on the 3DS version! Thank you!!!
I'm seriously loving this video yo! Thanks for some good explanation. Most people can't do it, believe me, I've been searching for a while.
I used this online. Banned after the first match. Salty bastards.
Colin McGreevy why though? For glory is such a salty place and think that your hacking if they don't win.
It's not hacking.
Colin McGreevy I didn't say you were, like seriously?
Oh, my bad. I misread your comment.
Another great video man, keep it up!
I keep hearing in the comments that Sakurai seems to be against techniques like this one? Why is this?
***** Not just this technique but many others. People claim "until Sakurai patches it".
Why is Sakurai so opposed to techniques?
Lumpyrox He's not against it. All that stuff you're seeing is just complaints from some (not all) Melee players. Smeargle Sandwich Sadly :[
Perfect, as usual. Thanks for your research, it must be a big work.
Even though Sakurai said he would only patch glaring bugs and problems.... I think this will be patched. That mega man is disgusting
There will be no more patches to balance out the game :)
Hyper Kirby He said only glaring problems. This looks pretty glaring
Hyper Kirby except he didn't say that, please don't spread misinformation.
"Sakurai says the development team will now focus on the game's online play, but will address any "glaring issues" if they arise."

Oh my Jesus Bruh I've been watching so many of your vids so I think it's time to subscribe
The first thing that came to my mind was "As if Diddy wasn't already broken enough" and then you mentioned it...
16 videos and you already have 29K subs amazing!! :)
watched all of your videos and subscribed.

nice videos man! great work i have improved a lot
Great job again Ambrose
omg I love you for this. Megaman is my main :D
The Megaman J.C. Glide Toss looks like a straight-up wavedash. This really is between Brawl and Melee, even in more ways now.
Ambrose did say this technique was possible in Brawl, but it was inferior to a normal glide toss.
+My Smash Corner, I've found a tech with fox. If you fastfall fair, the opponent gets spiked, and falls in the lay down animation. Preferably, I use up smash after this tech.
Like so he can see!
Man, this is so good! My main character is megaman and now he is even more powerful!
Every time a new tech is discovered, Sakurai kills a cat.
As a Bowser Jr. main, this makes me very happy.
Woah!! That reallly improves diddy!! I knew he was good but WOOWWWW
J.C is just wave dashing with a different name. AND I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you say "Summon" bananas? You're a beautiful soul.

MEGAMIND IS IN SMASH 4 LEAKED FOOTAGE
With toon link, you can input a dash attack after a forward Jump cancel glide toss, and play catch with yourself.
Mega Man's Glide Toss Slide Blade Combo thing is Smash 4's Waveshine.
What an awesome buff for MegaMan c:
another aspect of glide tossing you didn't mention is that characters who normally dash throw their items will have more landing lag than characters who glide toss. Good video though

Depending on the speed, traction, and trot distance it can work as a DACUS
(Though its not always that great. Captain Falcon has one of the best. And Kirby with Speed manado is also amazing)
Could you make a video to elaborate? How strict is the timing?
Skeeter Mania Some characters change ever so slightly, so I advise using C. Falcon on Fox. The inputs are similar as this (Run, jump, up on control stick + attack(= Up smash). Its easier without tap jump, but the timing isn't very hard to begin with. Its about the same timing as JCGT'n items.
Other than C Falcon and Fox, what other characters benefit? I'm placing my bets on the following...
Luigi
Greninja
Sonic
Marth
Lucina
Pikachu
Generally any character with low traction and/or fast dashing.
Skeeter Mania Unfortunately, Luigi cancels his momentum when releasing the smash attack.
And what about the others? What other characters benefit from pseudo-DACUS?
Even though ive known this for so long since i main toon link i decided to watch this. Im sad that you didnt mention toon links bomb tricks which is really fun to pull of in a game since it looks really cool and great for mind games
Thanks for a new tutorial man!
Sir you are going to revolutionize Smash 4 tournaments
This is surprisingly amazing with Toon Link. At low percentage, combines into dash attack for a string, or Forward Smash.
What about link, I main him
Sam Troester Link cannot do JCGT
+Eddie The Internet Pacifist Link still can, but the distance is pathetic compared to toon link's. Most of the time I just normally throw to save a few frames.
I can't wait to apply this to my toon link!
J.C.T is the new wave dash for some characters
Just imagine how sexy this game will get competitively when we start seeing tech like this used consistently in tournaments... :O_
Megaman's blade combo reminds me of waveshining with Fox in Melee.
