Wario changes since this vid came out: -Half and full waft become active about 3 frames lower, making it more difficult to combo into (but nair, upair and utilt still work just fine). Super armour starts sooner. -Uptilt sourspot has far fewer active frames. The moves combos are unchanged, its just harder to intentionally land the softspot. -Jab has less endlag and supposedly you can jab lock into full waft despite the nerf.
These videos always get me so excited because it shows me how viable these different characters are. Then I realize I'm not good enough to pull off the combos so I just go back to playing my main and try not to think about it
@@s7 Mario, Luigi, and Wario all have attacks that enlarge their appendages and grant them intangibility. Many characters do some form of that. It is inconsistent and one of my greatest frustrations with the game. Some attacks even give complete intangibility. Others have hit boxes far larger than the animations or common sense would suggest.

Here’s a smash concept I think is often misunderstood: weight is not the same as defense. For heavy characters, they die pretty late but usually get comboed easily. It should take 5ish good combo strings to bring them to kill percent. For light characters, they are harder to combo but die easily. It should take 5ish combos to bring the to kill percent. The numbers might not be accurate depending on the character you choose, but the concept remains the same. (Middle characters are in between) Point is, Nintendo thinks having a heavy weight is beneficial, so they generally saddle them with: -high landing lag -slower movement speed -low ground speed -bad recoveries -terrible frame data -larger hurtboxes This is why heavyweights are typically never competitively viable. Yes, rage has helped, but it is still an uphill battle. Ways that you can actually improve defense are: -better out-of-shield options -better recoveries -better disadvantage state -counter/reflect -stronger shield -projectiles -healing moves -faster shield heal Just thought I’d float the idea and spread awareness.
Andrew W Counters are not necessarily a good way to improve defense, because they are extremely punishable. The only safe usage of a counter is edgeguarding predictable recoveries
GogupTheTaco fair point sorry for arguing correlation equals causation I try to refrain from that. However, bowser, DK, and Ganon all have decent neutrals without projectiles. Heavies do not need a buff in the slightest.

Thanks for the amazingly in depth tutorial. I have however noticed one or two things. At 2:15 if you reverse Wario so that he nairs facing away from the opponent he can pretty reliably catch the follow up for a few more percent. I got Lucina at 56% facing me ( for some reason it didnt work at the same percent when she wasnt facing me) and Fox at 45%. The later half seems to connect faster. Its even easier for heavies ofcourse. This same reversal also seems to help tremendously with the follow up Bair head but through not having to split second pivot as you touch the ground. It can be tricky for us filthy casuals. Also lastly, im not sure if this is considered a true combo or not. But I often implement my bite into some of the basic Nair and Utilt combos (at lower %). I find it a good switch up that allows me to get some extra HP and panics them a bit. P.S. Landing a bite off the edge, although risky, is the greatest KO in my opinion ;) As long as I have a bike.

Correcting waft: You need to wait 55 sec for Half Waft and 1 min and 50 seconds for Full Waft regardless. It's only for example 52 seconds, because the Waft charges before the match begins. Also if you're player 1, you're the one who spawns first, which means more Waft for Wario.
@@pierreaoun9600 You're wrong tho. There are some Wario's who fish for their Half Walf (Setups), but they failed sometimes, because their Waft was ~3 seconds from being Half Waft. It was a common mistake in the Smash 4 days too in the competitive scene. It's important to know EXCACTLY when the wafts are charged so people won't repeat that mistake, unless you wait for Full Waft.
@@pierreaoun9600 Ah by that you mean. That part is only a slight difference, but like explained you never know if that very slight 0.5 sec Charge might screw your setups over, but that's unlikely.

i discovered this combo with wario on battlefield between roughly 15% to 35%, run up and short hop nair double hit, full jump up air and land on the low platform, then up tilt into another short hop up air. the timing is a bit strict but it feels great to land
one time was playing wario and was vs zelda i ran right into phantom on bike and we both got sudden death because we died at the same time and killed her with waft, that day i knew wario was my main
How to short hop and fast fall for beginners: There are two ways for a short hop, the first way you can lightly tap the jump button and release really quickly and the easier one that I recommend is to press the two jump buttons at the same time in my case X and Y If you want to do aerials while short hopping press the jump button with an attack button at the same time To fast fall you move the joycon down after a jump has gone its maximum height.

Well the only heavy with a projectile is like bottom 10. So, I don’t think they need projectiles.
FlaccidMan22 Correlation is not causation. Ridley’s neutral b is one of his best tools, he’s bad because he’s too light for his gigantic size.

warionino2 no, the three seconds matter a lot. I mean the timer starting when you spawn as p1 vs a tiny bit later as p2 won’t do much.
