Reverse key lighting is, by a very large margin, the most important thing I've learned about cinematic lighting. If you want a shot to look cinematic, setting up the dark side of the subject towards the camera does a good 80% of the work right there. It's done in movies ALL the time, and once you start to pay attention to it, you can't unsee it. It's the biggest change you'll ever make to your lighting setup.
