Jonny and Joshua’s points were both valid, just from different perspectives. Both were correct that what they said played a role in the goal being conceded. Ball retention and a bit more physicality at the back would both be a help.
You can see Joshua die internally when Jonny starts talking about Johnny Evans. I get what Jonny is saying - but it's a bit incoherent to always talk about how Ange took Scottish football apart and then not realise that he did that with players that were 8 stone soaking wet - primarily because he created a system that generates chances and is based on ball playing ability. You don't need to smash someone if you can pass the ball around them.
@buzzlopavich I don't blame Joshua's reaction. Johnny Evans was superb in his day.hes a crocked 37 year old who is a brittle as Helander who was also on an inflated salary.
Weirdly I agree with both jonny and Joshua to extents however... For example if we have an aggressive CB like gogic in our team we simply don't concede 2/3 goals, whilst I agree with what Joshua is saying I feel it's more difficult and expensive to fix that where as if you buy a typical big nasty B type SPL CB it fixes 90% of our problems and probably costs under £1mill to do it
I think the real answer is you need both in your backline. A big guy who can get everything in the air, and technical cb who can help us get up the pitch without just lobbing it 60 yards and inviting attacks against us
We just don't have 2 central defenders who are good on high balls and don't get bossed around, this has gone on for a very long time. All the SPL teams know how weak we are on set pieces. If the management can't see that then there's no hope.
Jonny thinks, “this is a team that’s built for Europe”. That has to be the single most delusional and stupid throw away comment I’ve ever heard. Admittedly the Ranger’s board and management could barely be worse. However, even they are aware that the big money in Europe is in the champions league, so why would they build a team for Europe that was not fit to win the domestic league, which is the gateway to the Champions League, where the big bucks are. Now let that sink in for a second, and tell me again if you really, truly believe this is a team built for Europe……… I mean come on, you can’t honestly think they are that stupid? HNY tho 😊
Jonny - GetJohnny Evans - he's not very quick, not very mobile but he can head the ball. Best joke of the day. He's also on £60K+ a week we are cost cutting so will have money for Evans. Magic. Oh wait - Derek - I'd take Rocky Bushiri (hilarious) what have you boys drank this morning?
This transfer window i don't care if it's loans till the end of the season, but ideally a couple of central defenders is an absolute priority due to the absence of Souttar, Balogun, Nana and Sterling. We cannot continue as we are to the end of the season as we are because we will simply ship more points especially away from home. This is Patrick Murphy's first big test and he must act. 🇬🇧🇬🇧💙
We need a Scottish central defender or two as we all know what the manager does is give the incoming player/s a month to prepare for home life and another before they hit the pitch. I am on the Johnny camp, hate stats as the eyes don’t lie.Who told the players to take their foot off the gas?.
Sorry but if we’re 2-0 up in the second half I agree retain the ball more and finish the game but we scored our second goal in the 19th minute. The game has a lot of play left in it so there’s no way we’re going to just pass it about and retain the ball for 70mins when your saying we can’t do it for 5mins so I agree with Johnny, we were John souttar and Leon balogun away from winning the game yesterday and that isn’t the managers fault
Does Josh actually tell us how we get more control? We don’t deal with balls into the box and don’t win physical battles and second balls and that’s happened all season. Raskin can’t do it himself . Diomonde only contributes in possession. This team is not built for SPL and it’ll be Groundhog Day until he’s gone.
Excellent content. Really good when everyone has the opportunity to say their piece without others talking over them. Both gentlemen made good points and unfortunately both are correct
Joshua, stick to podcasting, you'll never be a referee, it's a coming together, not a penalty, just look at the view Beaton had, he's looking on from the side and couldn't possibly see the contact between the players, he had a better view of the Cerny penalty claim in the cup final and didn't give the penalty or ask to check the VAR screen, just the latest in a series of incorrect penalty decisions by Beaton against Rangers.
As much as I agree with the philosophy of josh we are never going to be prime Barcelona. Just look at the conditions at Easter road ... the auld dinosaur is right, we need a big bruiser at the back who'll command the penalty box area.
I’ve been fairly negative regarding the manager team etc, thought we actually played well for large spells yesterday yet still don’t win which is more worrying than St Mirren and Motherwell
Not a penalty for me, especially as you can see, Beaton didn't have a good view of the coming together, he was looking from the side and couldn't possibly see the incident from a good angle, the referee must be 100% sure before he awards a penalty.
The issues johnny is talking about are a direct result of not being able to build through the lines, thus wanting to go long and losing possession as a consequnce, being forced deeper and feeper leading to the box getting shelled with long balls, panicking due to that leading to cheap fouls and set pieces playing into the hands of domestic opposition. The answer to that isnt bringing big lumps the solution is quick defenders who allow you to play a high line whom can also play through the lines whether by carrying or passing the ball.
@@jamesmcnally5838 depends were you look there's lots of markets in which you can get value for money for example Jose Cordoba who's doing really well down South was available for less than was spent on Dessers if I'm not mistaken, I've always thought Eastern Europe would be a great market for British clubs especially the lesser leagues such as Bulgaria and Romania, on top of that you've got players whom are used to playing in tough weather conditions and poor pitches which is very similar to up here, I'd also be looking at targeting teams with a history of developing good players whom are struggling financially and or have fallen down the pyramid, there's many of those in both Germany and France, I'd also look to Africa although a cultural and climate adjustment could be challenges though a number of Scandinavian teams have found ways to overcome that, someone like Adamo Nagalo would be an example of the type player Rangers should be targeting before they go for the type of money he recently went for, for example I'd be looking at Fallou Diouf from generation foot or if you want someone more first team ready the likes of Gambia's James Gomez from Odense in Denmark or Simic whom AC Milan sold for 3 Million to Anderlecht both have good physical profiles can play a bit and are reasonably mobile, these are the types of players clubs like rangers should be looking at not to mention they've got plenty of resale value should they kick on which they are young enough to do.

Sadly we seem to have gotten rid of some of the exact type of defenders we need right now post Gerrard. I believe its a consequence of bringing in managers who dont get the SPL at all, even though one of them in Gio played in the league. They want fancy ball playing defenders and, as a result, we've brought in bottom of the barrel ball playing defenders when the answer for the spfl is a couple of mid standard tree swingers.
