    great work joshua - as always. the fact you aren't given access, as a journalist/analyst, to footage of bygone matches is criminal. #freejosh

      @PacificShelf1994 I don't agree, he's building the nucleus if a very good team. Just need to add a bit of depth to the squad as the drop off in performance is too much when Igamane, Cerny, Raskin or Danilo don't play.

    Bajrami played a number10 brilliantly, not just stopping McGregor but his link up play with the attackers was class. Every player had plus marks , well done Clement 👋👋

      Not nearly mentioned enough. Quick feet and mind with a good work rate. He is vital. I think we are seeing what he is capable of in that role and shouldn’t be played on the left again. He is our nailed on number 10 now and Lawrence can play 2nd fiddle.

    • @yogaflame7884
      @yogaflame7884 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This type of role works in old firms for a 10, but against the rest of the dross in the league its too safe, cautious and restrictive. We need to be more free flowing and attacking against other spl sides, its the main reason im not getting carried away with this old firm win. Beat the dross consistently and i'll be more comfortable with clement in charge, so far hes been nowhere near that.

      This what annoys me with Celtic fans saying that they played so badly. It was Rangers tactics that stopped their play maker from having his space to work.

    Bajrami was really hard working and some of his passing and movement between him and Hagi and the way Igamane moves, Celtic struggled. Love it. Great analysis Josh. The game was won in the midfield. Raskins play was really clever. His positioning and passing was key.

  • @grantwills6633
    @grantwills6633 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    It was the same tactics as the final the only difference being that in the final if we'd taken the 4 on 1 chance then the result would have been different. 2 games in a row Bajrami has nullified Macgregor and when you do that they don't tick

    Excellent analysis as always, Joshua, made all the more enjoyable by the result in this fixture. Raskin was my MotM, but every player stepped up, particularly in that midfield as your analysis shows.

    When it's man for man, attitude is vitality important to win personal battles and find space. Rangers wanted it far more than Celtic today and dominated across the pitch

    Sacking Clement would be a massive mistake. The two performances against Tottenham and Celtic were tactical masterclasses. True we have struggled away from home in the league against the low block, but once we sort that out then we will be laughing- cos we seem to have figured out how to play against Celtic and our results in Europe have been excellent.
    And all of this with a relatively new and young team. Just think last season we had Barisic at left back, don’t think he would have intercepted and drove forward for the third goal like Jefte did 😅

    • @robcarrol
      @robcarrol หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Jefte is a massive upgrade on Barasic and can put in a wicked cross as well. To think how many times Barasic let us down in these games.

    Brilliantly presented!
    I’d love to see a breakdown of the process (evolution).
    Clement has mentioned starting with team defence, then moving forward from the back… to attacking third… eventually to creating chances and finishing.
    Looks to me that that’s what happening.
    …then how that fails in park-the-bus situations (and needed adjustments).
    5am kickoff here… one more pint then off to bed 🍺

    He knows how to beat them now by sitting in a shape but that won’t cut it against the rest. Needs more physicallity in midfield to win battle and genuine wide players to stretch teams on the outside.

    Rangers totally outplayed celtic, yet we loose points against st mirren and motherwell.😢 This set up is far better when playing this lot. Referee played ok , but johnstone should have been booked for his umpteen tackles on Haji, which were ignored. As were a few other by celtic players on Raskin. It was closer to fair refwreeing but not quite there yet. But Haji was best player on the park, closely followed by Raskin.🎉

      To think if we hadn't dropped points in those two games we'd be pulling their coats tails right now and for Haji he's always getting battered and always will be

    The tactic for the first time in a decade, was to ignore the refs bias, don't let his decisions interfere with the plan and don't drop the head and quit, it worked a treat, and it showed how single minded septic really are, any team who attack septic and refuse to give the ref any help beats septic easily!

    Apart from the 3-0 defeat at the start of this season, the games v Celtic under PC have been tight and hugely impacted by some dodgy officiating by refs/VAR. Let's not forget that they were effectively at full strength with 25 million pounds on the bench. Rogers was his usual arrogant self and didn't pay heed to the Cup final game when McGregor was nullified.

    celtic are that used to beating Rangers they thought all they had to do was turn up and when Rangers went for the jugular they froze and were shown to be not as good as we all thought and again some serious referee decisions that would have been highlighted had the result gone the other way but until that style of display becomes the norm I wont get over excited

  • @jimreilly6933
    @jimreilly6933 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Rangers were playing for their managers job, their pride and to redress the loss of the league cup final by a mere one missed penalty. Hunger and desire plus a home ground full of full throated "well oiled" home fans acted like an extra man. Conversely ! Celtic did not have the same motivation and they were playing with a man down "Hatate" and a left back who has one eye oot the back door and Scales who allowed the atmosphere to get the better of him.
    These factors rarely duplicate themselves in football which has a tendency to fluctuate from week to week.

    There’s no new tactics it’s just don’t give teams all the time on the ball they want , we seem to be on them straight away on Thursday night but vickers was still able to carry the ball nearly to our 18 yard line few times, other than that we ran o mock but not getting carried away

    • @williampalmer1548
      @williampalmer1548 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Nah mate that was the game plan would you rather mcgregor walk about wae the ball like he’s done any other time they win? You keep McGregor and their midfield out the game and you have a much better chance against them, maybe watch it again

    • @honestg
      @honestg หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Drawing Vickers out was part of the ploy. McGregor and Vickers were nullified. Could see our players waiting to take the ball off them. Good, sensible play.

      Great piece here Joshua. Shows a level of intelligence to the play. Great that the best performers on the day were.the younger ones.
      Only issue we have is THAT mob play to a structure we can decipher, all other teams in SPFL play chaos football.
      Get our heads round that and.we have a league winning team.
