And thats another why you dont build with wood in Mexico even if the house foods to the ceiling you only loose your personal property you just washed down with a hose, no serve pro and no worry about termites
Thanks for the video.. I'm glad you know where you are going because as you know the rain water on the streets hides any low spots and holes.. I live in south Louisiana and I know a thing or two about flooding.. I am retired and I do not drive at night or in the rain and especially after a heavy rain.. I was doing Uber in my Honda Civic and I would watch the weather radar everyday on my phone and when the big rain storm will come I would clock out and go home.. my Honda Civic was only a few inches off the ground and I would never drive it through any water.. I am moving to the Philippines and I will stick to my same plan cuz I will not drive at night or in the rain.. when I rent my house I will make sure it has two stories and it is on some kind of a hill.. I will also ask the neighbors about flooding before I rent.. the Philippines has monsoon rains just like south Louisiana and Merida.. stay safe Cortes and keep it between the lines and watch your six😮😮😊😊
Don't let that stop you... Rainy season is only a few months out of the year and you won't see much of that the remainder of the year. Plus, as I mentioned in the video, the water recedes quickly in many areas... Just so you know, It's not really that big of an issue to cancel this place out. Unless you're living in the parts that don't recede quickly and you can decide where to live. No different than many US cities. Some areas are more prone to flooding than others.
Jajaja lo mas que el agua te llega es hasta los pies o un poco mas sin llegar a las rodillas y en cuanto a las casas no entra agua mas que lo normal, todas las casa en yucatan se construyen a un nivel donde no entre agua a tu casa.
Keep that video rolling. We’re riding with Cartess. Enjoying the ride, the company & the views. The rain isn’t great but people manage. Get me a Suzuki Samurai. Splash right on thru there. 😆😆
That amount of water makes getting around a bit rough, but you said that it will be gone in a short amount of time so that helps. I'm glad that you know those roads, especially that dirt road because of holes or big dips that could be hidden by the water. Good job driving!
The issue for the lack of proper drainage is indeed the karstic floor under the peninsula; considerably harder (thus far more expensive to excavate), at least to explain the infrastructural limitations. Also as all the underground veins of the "cenotes" (sinkholes) also make it more difficult for the water to drain naturaly. This doesn't happen everywhere but it is part of the matter.
Thats like some places in Texas. For some reason some streets dont have drainage. So when it rains heavy, it floods. My parents always stressed getting at least apartments on the upper floors. Good info. I can see why there could be mold issues. Thanks.
That’s why everyone drives a truck out west especially high lifted trucks. Not saying that that will make it more safer but it gives you better ride up higher on poor road conditions. While talking motor scooter drives by wow. And lastly get yourself a couple of “wet vac” to get rid of water and a back up generator.
No flooding in the Lake Chapala area. But, because it’s surrounded by mountains there have been land slides. Only 2 in 25 years, and in specific neighborhoods, but still. I guess every place has something.
I didn’t see an email to contact you about a short consultation. I already live in Mexico, but I have an issue I think you could possibly help me with. Thank you Cartess

That's nothing. Ever been to Houston when it rains? 😂

You are correct in asserting that a meteorite hit the Yucatan Peninsula. The aftereffect is hardened layers of stone and rock formation.
That’s a big draw back
This is the only drawback to my decision to move to Merida (flooding).

This was very helpful!!! Thanks for sharing.
Damn, you can drop a line in that water and come up with dinner. Lol
Some cities in US do not have drains such as in Soutgern California...wonder if for same reason?
True Cartess. Im in Valladolid and it poured rain hard for over an hour and it floods. Pers id always build elevated and never at street/ground level.
Thanks for the honest reviews.
A couple times your pronunciation of the letter U went Spanishy! 😂 It’s working it’s way in! You starting to get a good roll on the R yet?

Does it get into the houses?
Reminds me of Vegas
Wow!🌊 Travel safely, Cartess.🙋🏾♀️
I love the energy, Cartess!!
Infrastructure
Aren't the one level houses flooding as well???
That looks like a severe case of bad city planning
Wow!!! Thanks for sharing
I’m talking the Bus 🚌 😂
Flooding all over the world, little brother!
Wow that's a lot of water. Poor drainage system.
Is the issue of flooding specific to Merida…🤔or is it throughout most Regions of Mexico during rainy season?

I'm surprised that you drove your car through the water.
It's a fairly common thing here ... But rainy season is a short spell. Don't last too long and this year wasn't bad at all.
Man! You need to get you a Land Rover 🤣
Good lawd!!!!!
😊😊😊
How come the homes have a flat roof instead of an A shape roof
You can use a flat roof if you want to, you can't use an A shape and also with a flat roof you can add a second story if you want to
Flat roofs are terrible they always end up with leaks
It's more common, I think, to have A frame roof shapes in colder climates, so the snow slides off.
I didn’t see an email to contact you about a short consultation.
I already live in Mexico, but I have an issue I think you could possibly help me with.
Thank you Cartess

Are you and the Wife and Daughters okay ?Cartess
Yes. We are good, thanks for asking.
Does marida have city drains?
Another reason not to move to Merida.
