- A wee extra episode to mark a major milestone for this wee corner of Scotland. Leven fell off the railway network in 1969 when passenger services stopped. 55 years, and £116 million, later the trains are back in Levenmouth.
The Levenmouth Rail Link via Cameron Bridge could be a game changer for our wee area. Edinburgh in an hour..
Back to normal tomorrow at 4pm when we're heading to the very north of Scotland, and find our dream house by the sea...
A huge thank you to everyone who's supported our wee channel so far, if you'd like to help support our wee adventures you can do it through through our Ko-Fi or Patreon.
All our videos are hand made from 100% organic ingredients ;). Our content is mostly filmed on a GoPro 11 with a Rode fluffy microphone to keep the wind noise down, with occasional bits on an iPhone13. We also use a DJI Mini 3 drone which we're loving getting to grips with.
We make our own music using GarageBand and the videos are edited in iMovie.
If you'd like to buy DeNiro a biscuit (and he's a good boy, honest) you can via our Ko-Fi link at www.ko-fi.com/ScotlandOnAShoes....
If you'd like to become a patron of our wee channel we also have a patreon at / scotlandonashoestring
We also have an Etsy shop where we sell some of our hand made items. It's at dandbbythesea.etsy.com
How to turn a mundane commuter trip into an exciting commentary on modern transportation? Get Iain to do it! 😂😁🤩 I don't know how I missed this video, but it's done now. Thank you. 😍👍
Thank you so much. We weren't sure if we'd put this on the channel, it was just a bit of silliness but it's ended up being quite big.
While it was admittedly quite underwhelming, I thoroughly enjoyed the train ride, thanks for sharing 🩷
If I knew people would enjoy this wee film I would have made a proper episode, this was just a Quick Look but it took off :))
Your videography skills have grown so much.
I really like your channel.
Thank you!! I think we're getting there.
I remember going to Leven on the railway 60 years ago. My dad was a train driver and we got free travel, we went to my aunts in Kennoway my mum always gave us a penny to throw out the window when we crossed the Forth bridge for luck happy memories
Giving 'Planes, Trains, Everything' a run for his money, I see ;)
It should be a bit of a game changer for the tourist industry. Wonder if the windows open for when it goes over the bridge :)
@grapesodatravels I imagine they’d take it more seriously 😋
Great little vlog! Although the project is not complete, it looks awesome. And you know I love the drone footage. Perfect little train ride. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. 👍🏼
You're welcome :)
you found my wee new hoose, atop the hill looking over looking the train. now, all I need to do is fly out and move in. wonderful video, content is cracken.
Actually if you check out tonight’s episode, there’s a house there that would suit you guys perfectly!!
@@scotlandonashoestringoh dang! That’s a little too expensive 😂
@@scotlandonashoestring Perfect, thanks for the tip, nice location. DeNiro and Dodger can do zoomies together.
The train to Edinburgh is not allowed to make houses in Fife more expensive! We haven't moved there yet!!! We still have 2.5 years before we can both retire from our US Govt jobs. Could you please do something about that for us? Keep the costs down a bit longer, please.
I’ll see what we can do :)
IT WAS ABOUT TIME LEVEN WAS TAKEN OUT THE DARK AGES.
Hopefully this will take us back to the 1900s :)
Good morning from Canada....
Good afternoon from Methil :)
Hate to think how much that trip cost! I remember going from Portsmouth the London and back for a couple of quid!! Oh how I miss train journeys, I still find it strange that there are no trains here, last one was in the 50's I believe. Still see the odd railway track from time to time, one is appearing in a local car park as the weather wears away the ground. A lovely wee trip, thanks for sharing 🙂
You’re welcome!! We’ll have to take it a bit further than Cameron Bridge next time.
@@scotlandonashoestring oooo yes!
with all the driving restrictions we are heading for I think the return of all the railway lines would be a good thing.
I think it’s brilliant for the area.
Now that was fun.
We have a stretch of track that driving would take thirty minutes for 145M.
Hope that community stays a secret enough to remain affordable.
A word that's lost in our vocabulary 🇨🇦
Thanks for sharing.🦋🌻
It’s a shame all these lines were closed down in the 60s. Costing a fortune to get them reopened.
Was this exactly 👍💯 the shape of the ORIGINAL LINE that _Dr. Beeching_ shut?
This line survived Beeching, it was lack of use and the closing of the power station at Methil that killed it. Network Rail still owned the track bed and infrastructure of the old line so yep, it’s on exactly the same route.
@@scotlandonashoestring hmm 🤔 I thought 💭 that this line was 1️⃣ of the victims of BEECHING.
Passenger services ended in 1969 but the line was used for freight until 2001 before it was mothballed. All the original track was still there.
What?!! No Bex and no DeNiro?
Normal service resumed today at 4 :)
Prefer to acknowledge the commitment to re introducing rail services rather than carp about what still needs finished.
We think it’s brilliant that the railway is back!
