Departments don't stop functioning when a chief dies/quits/retires. None of the numbers are related to the chair being empty. How about getting the most qualified chief instead of the one that fits the specific DEI requirements for OPD.

Might I recommend, following personal experience, avoiding the city of Oakland until the management changes. Too dangerous to visit. People there are angry and will spit in your face
It's actually too dangerous to pause, while driving through the city, to take a leak. It's best to have someone else drive and you are better off just rolling down the window.

Honestly you think Oakland to be the better city because unlike San Francisco, Oakland typically has warmer weather also Oakland i feel wont be as affected by coastal erosion as San Francisco since in Oakland they have alot of land such as the oakland hills andneven Walnut creek whereass most of San Francisco and stretching down to San Jose the land is already developed
Once rich people realize Oakland's potential I garantee we will see a clip where San Francisco becomes Oakland and Oakland becomes San Francisco 🤣 the opportunity for Oakland is there and I have considered moving there because I the city definitely has more land and slightly better climate

Only thing I want Oakland to have that San Francisco does is better maintained infrastructure, the city needs to be able to make profit so it can actually have reliable emergency services and lastly I like to feel safe walking around the city at night as I do in many areas of San Francisco like Outer sunset and Bayview.

Alameda County should bring in migrants to help with crime problems. Migrants need jobs, and they could be hired to help short-staffed police departments and the sheriffs department. They could be paid a training wage, and upon receiving good evaluations gain citizenship. It would be a Win-Win for Oakland and other east bay cities. Temporarily, the migrants can be housed in the now-vacant Oracle Arena; and a dome could be put over the vacant Coliseum to provide shelter. Each facility has plenty of bathrooms, as well as showers that were once used by players.
