In the anime the lupus and lupus rex was awsome. As far as the hg goes i dont mind paint the missing colors and looking at it makes me think of a warewolf. Personally i like it

thank you thank you for bringing back the normal review time length. thank you for providing content with effort for your subscribers. the old mecha gaikotsu is back
So... I've yet to paint mine. But I also took the tail, ripped out the sub arms, and modded the spaces in the arms for a pail of tails. And now I have the Gundam Double Rex. I still need to decide what to do with the backpack since it no longer mounts a tail there.
IBO kits were very cheap at retail, I was able to buy almost the whole line because of the nice pricing. Good luck finding them after pandemic and with this economy though.
The Lupus Rex was meant to be an absolute BEAST!!!💯 I absolutely love the perportions of it but i would like to see a function to turn it into a quadraped... after MIKASUKI totally crushed Hasmahl it was the most amazing ground combat sequence in any Gundam series EVER! with all Gundams, they are primarily made for space combat, cause that's proximately where they engaged in combat. so it was fantastic to see the true potential of ground combat of the likes we've never seen before and will never see again...💯 That's why i love this Gundam so much, even in space combat MIKASUKI completely dominated any opponents that were foolish enough to engage him in any form of combat...💯 it absolutely underscores the title of which he earned so rightfully... The Devil of Tekkedan...😎💪🤘🤘🤘💯😈
I've did a painted build for the sake of my review (which I hope you can check out, BTW) because I can't stand the straight build as it lacks too much coloring. I colored even the symbol on the tail.
All of the versions are nice indeed. I love Lupus Rex the most as it's perfect for its story, and only a natural evolution. Bet the original creator(s) of this Gundam frame would have been surprised at the beast it eventually became hundred of years later. The hand claws and huge arms say it all. Beast Gundam-nothing like the more elegant Gundams across the many universes. It should be judged in its context. I feel it's a great design, and its head still has a "classic" aura of sorts, so it still resembles the idea of a "traditional" Gundam while not being conventional at all. This set is awesome, the reviewer just subjectively dislikes it. As he himself said, if you are going to paint it, no problems at all-which is why I did, to replace all but the eye stickers. OOB it requires some work to look "perfect" (IMHO), but if one is not picky, it still looks great with its massive, intentionally exaggerated proportions.
I have mixed feelings about the Rex, I like the idea of the huge arms, considering Mika's fighting style, and I think in an action pose the Rex can look good. Just standing though... yeah it's off.
call me weird. but i think for the design wise i do love this form better from the other gundam even the barbatos design it self. its look odd and stupid because you forget about the color separation, even thou it is hg in my opinion you should apply some color like silver or gold for the piston or something like gear around that inner frame. and all of the odd aspect will dissapear with good detail and wathering!!!
I know the color correcting stickers are pretty bad, but that never stopped me from loving this Gundam design, when I first got this kit & finished building it, I immediately fell in love with this Gundam.
This is my first kit, I play Warhammer so the snap on parts definitely made things easier. I really like this model though. It wasn't hard to put together and in all honesty the arms and legs are a little wonky but it's ok haha I'm happy with it all around though. For a noobie I'd give it a 8/10 Some of the pieces are unbelievably tiny and like he said about the stickers being big haha
I wished they kept the old shoulder from Lupus. The new shoulder pads doesnt suit the kit as much. That said, I'll just go with the 1/100 when it comes out
I love both Barbatos Lupus and Barbatos Lupus Rex. I really don't see any problems with the portions on the Rex. I think it looks beastly and amazing. Don't forget that is called REX for a reason
i love this kit to be honest, the animalistic form of a wolf, and its mean savage look really gives the barbatos justice to its true form, and for a high grade its perfect for me, just paint the hands and its all good(you can include the tail if you dont want the foil seals) but i painted the eyes of this thing red so it would look just like its last episode berserk form.
Very cool review! I'm going to unbox this exact model in my channel so I was looking for pointers on how to title the video and such things. It looks beautiful finished, I can't wait to complete it. PD: the most important aspect I learned from you was the camera angle >_< I had no idea a facefront assembly would be so tough to watch with such minuscule parts.
Changing out the limbs for the Lupus limbs is exactly why I considered getting it. I'm in the hate it camp, the only question that remains for me is do I get another Lupus for this and what do I do with the rex limbs. Maybe some kind of beast custom.
the most interesting on this kit is a Tail-Bit... also looks similar to Master Gundam's extended wire-fists. Its Rounded shoulder-armors and the claws... it strikingly brings me back remembering Master Gundam's design.
The only parts I had an issue with was the oversized feet, even then modify them a little and there not too bad. The Arms could use some color separation to make them look better.
I think the exaggerated proportions look awesome! I had this kit before but the legs locked up from my shotty glue application -.- getting a replacement soon
I know it may be too late for this, you did mention Barbatos 6th form has small arms, would it look better if Lupus Rex's arms are fitted on that and 6th form's arms fitted onto this?
I just found this kit at my local target as a lucky find. Built it and gotta say the yellow stickers were hard to place well meanwhile the waist and the backpack-wireholder pieces were very loose and hard to pose
hmmmm ... I have a feeling the body, torso and head were meant to be a customization base, the rest ...... eh For example, i've been imagining a Barbatos Lupus Rex with Rex's Head, Waist, torso and legs, Lupus' arms, Rex's shoulders, Rex's arms are mounted on the Rex's backpack somewhat like Gusion Rebake. I wanted to think about trying to relocate that tail from the back to the butt( I get that it was probably mounted there in the anime for maybe a higher sync rate with mika's AV, but still)
i think that the lupus Rex is much better than the lupus, for the colors, the huge arms make him really wild like a really wolf=lupus, but also I really love the first version of the barbatos, sincerely i really don't understand the lupus xD..
5:29 try repainting the wire with a bright color or the red lightning effect color lupus rex has, a little costom and the junky wire, it'll actually looks good
+Mecha Gaikotsu I just found all the actual differences, for the bottom section is bigger toes, added back heel, red colour thing, zipper. Top it is the mid point in the armor that is different design, the sides are the same design, new parts but same design, parts are the same, face and sides. They are almost the same, so it is the lupus 6th form.
I think honestly don’t think the proportions are too bad, yes it looks weird but just watch the anime more specifically Tekkadans Last Stand, the long arms allowed the Gundam to run on all 4s like a wolf and in close combat it even without a weapon it obviously had a reach advantage against the Graze even though they had the length of their swords plus the length of there arms the claws of the lupus rex could still reach them first
I built this kit yesterday, and i found that there are parts to built mini MS with similar frame to Barbatos Which kits should i buy to finish the little one.
As we all know that the Lupus Rex was taken from the Mobile Armor part to upgrade. I wonder what they doing with the Laser Beam part? That puzzling me...
I totally get what you mean with the color problems. Doesn't help with the claws when the box art and their pictures of the model have golden claws. Thought I didn't get the stickers until I checked the manual. Either way at $15 and getting some really nice poses out of it, it'll make for a good painting attempt.
+omgcandy16Kimicari0 off the top of my head: HG Rozen Zulu (needs a stand, weak wire), MG Blitz (no stand, crappy weak wire), this and the full mechanics Lupus Rex. My mind tells me some other Seed kits have wires too, but I can't really remember.
I see, so even within Gundam this has been done before. I was interested because although I haven't watched IBO2 yet, the idea of Mika supplementing his very deliberate fighting style with something like a controlled wire caught my eye.
A recommendation if you plan to buy this to play first sand the joints that are to attach the arms to the torzo since these are very strong force the articulations of the shoulders when moving the arms forward
i kinda wish Lupus Rex head crest(purple thing below V-Fin) design similar to Lupus. it fit to Rex. is just me his backpack arm move to side arm(grey armor area)?
hey, at least the 1/100 Barbatos Lupus Rex is looking pretty sweet, and it fixes pretty much all the missing color without stickers, as we've seen pics of it without any stickers or paint
in fact, all it's missing is the yellow fingers, and those would've been hard to do when it's essentially a No-Grade. even Master Grades don't really do that (I'm looking at you, MG Astray Red Frame)
The more bestial proportions don't bother me one bit, the design is supposed to be more of a beastly, berserker type. And with the addition of the tail blade (which in the anime, seems to function a lot like how Scorpion's spear in Mortal Kombat does)...yeah, that cements the more bestial nature of the Lupus Rex. What DOES bother me is the quality of some of the parts. I haven't had this thing doing that much in the year that I've had it, but the ankles have gotten loosey-goosey ALREADY, and the back of the left hand has popped off and gone missing, meaning that I'll no doubt need to hunt down another copy of this thing JUST TO FIX THAT. On the other hand, maybe that's not such a bad thing: I love those open hands, they give me a very distinct Shining Finger/Godfinger vibe. Maybe with an extra kit, I could paint that extra right open hand to resemble that? (Or perhaps a bright red to be its own thing: Lupus Finger!!) And just as a nitpick, I also don't particularly like how the Lupus Rex ditched all instances of the stylized power symbol. That seems like it was a hallmark of the Barbatos that should've stayed in some way.
In the anime the lupus and lupus rex was awsome. As far as the hg goes i dont mind paint the missing colors and looking at it makes me think of a warewolf. Personally i like it
rasheed gregory well lupus rex does mean mean wolf king
Honestly,I still love lupus rex
barbatos lupus rex the demon bearded wolf king
Man it's a real pain watching that wire getting "abused"
Quang NX ikr I kept cringing
I was waiting to see if it was tear. ^_^
The point is to show potential buyers what a lot of posing will do to it. Thank the man, he took one for the team.
to be fair, they incorporated the sub-arms and rifles directly into the forearms, so the huge size is justified.
Ahmad Asnawi or maybe the barbatos just needed a bigger fap hand
justified functionally, but aesthetically, the arms look too wonky and goofy on that torso.
@@minionedifier7776 of course it is my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
@@minionedifier7776 ur opinion, I don't like it.
Someone pointed out that the design of this gundam is based on a werewolf
"The balls are much larger than before"
I need to mature myself
With a name like "Rex", you'd think the ridiculously gigantic arms were meant to one-up a certain famous dinosaur....
YayaFingerButters actually Rex also means king that's why Barbatos lupus Rex is referred to a wolf king
YayaFingerButters ...Wrong
It was a joke, he wasn't trying to be accurate to the series.
Jetfire48 i love the design of barbatos lupus rex it is unique
Rex: Latin for king :)
The more and more I see the proportions they are growing on me....it looks very wolfish the more I see it
Crow Dash exactly.. thats why its called lupus rex.. wolf king

thank you thank you for bringing back the normal review time length. thank you for providing content with effort for your subscribers. the old mecha gaikotsu is back
I'm glad they got rid of that long side skirts!
i dont care i will still buy it!
same just paint all yellow with gold, and adjust the waist piston size with runner. problem solve!!!
cool idea!

This might be an old comment but I think it being simple and easy to build is also good if you want to paint it at some point.
Man j personally love this design I think the beast aesthetic suits the model really well. Posed accordingly this thing looks like a BEAST
I wished they kept the old shoulder from Lupus. The new shoulder pads doesnt suit the kit as much. That said, I'll just go with the 1/100 when it comes out
Lawrence Michael Cruzo The old shoulders got completely fucked in the show xd
Rex or Lupus?
lupus, one was chop by hasmal tail blade and the other shoulder was severely damage when holding the giant buster sword,.
Too much blue for me.
I swapped the blue shoulder with the red lupus one, honestly looks more fitting bcs its bigger. Also the overall red makes it look more "evilish"
I love both Barbatos Lupus and Barbatos Lupus Rex. I really don't see any problems with the portions on the Rex. I think it looks beastly and amazing. Don't forget that is called REX for a reason
+Daniel Weaver I love the proportions of the rex, I just don't feel this kit does it justice

Also it looks like a beast with a tail
The only parts I had an issue with was the oversized feet, even then modify them a little and there not too bad. The Arms could use some color separation to make them look better.

Barbatos is designed like a demon. Think of it as a mechanical demon and it's gorgeous.
I know it may be too late for this, you did mention Barbatos 6th form has small arms, would it look better if Lupus Rex's arms are fitted on that and 6th form's arms fitted onto this?
Just finished this kit. The length of the arms and size of the feet work better in action poses than as a standing up straight pose.
I just found this kit at my local target as a lucky find. Built it and gotta say the yellow stickers were hard to place well meanwhile the waist and the backpack-wireholder pieces were very loose and hard to pose

I guess you finally realized that the HGIBO kits were designed with customization in mind.
for the wire...just get a thin clear peice of heat shrink tubing, and it will add a ton of rigidity to keep the wire from getting messed up

5:29 try repainting the wire with a bright color or the red lightning effect color lupus rex has, a little costom and the junky wire, it'll actually looks good

"The balls are much larger than what we have seen before"-Mecha Gaikotsu
I built this kit yesterday, and i found that there are parts to built mini MS with similar frame to Barbatos
Which kits should i buy to finish the little one.
What other paint should I use to color the fingers except for Tamiya paints. Can I use poster paints?
not tryna be rude, but have you seen Blood Orphans? he looks like this for a reason
I have a question. If the other weapons of barbatos example is the mace are 1/144 they can fit with your 1/100 barbatos?
Thank you!
Where did you get that clip you use to demo the arm at around 1:33?
and few years later, a ver.ka of this will be released.
lupus is still the badass barbie
For anyone who bought this kit. Did yours come with the tail blade wire
As we all know that the Lupus Rex was taken from the Mobile Armor part to upgrade. I wonder what they doing with the Laser Beam part? That puzzling me...
how's the proportion compares to the 1/100 mechanic version of the Rex?
U do know there's two holes on the booster sides right it can be used as a weapon holder
This last form of Barbatos just need a right pose. Then it will absolutely look cool 😎
My main issue with it is the ball joint connecting the torso to the bottom half is a very loose connection
are the hands too big to just put those on old arms? Feel like the murder claws would work on other arms
Is this a good kit for a first timer? I'm planning to buy this one.
how about the full mechanics 1/100 barbatos lupus rex ?
Is there gonna be only 50 eps for IBO? I gotta see the babies Mika has with Atra and Kudelia
How do you keep your model kits together so well? Is it glue or something else?
I personally love the look of Barbatos lupus rex
Did they made closed hand for this barbatos
I think this baby would look great with the Kimaris trooper's lower body. I don't have the Rex yet so I love to ask if anyone's tried that yet?
I totally get what you mean with the color problems. Doesn't help with the claws when the box art and their pictures of the model have golden claws. Thought I didn't get the stickers until I checked the manual. Either way at $15 and getting some really nice poses out of it, it'll make for a good painting attempt.
What the use of extra part
The Barbatos has a tail because it's a big space rat.
I have this exact gundam and every time I pose it stuff just breaks to the point I don't even touch it anymore
I'm on the fence which one i should get, the original lupus, or the lupus rex. Can you help me to choose which one is the best?
I might get this suit.
Combine the "lupus" and rex parts.
Might just put the claw hands.
How many models do the wire gimmick? That's interesting enough for me to consider getting this.
+omgcandy16Kimicari0 off the top of my head: HG Rozen Zulu (needs a stand, weak wire), MG Blitz (no stand, crappy weak wire), this and the full mechanics Lupus Rex. My mind tells me some other Seed kits have wires too, but I can't really remember.

omgcandy16Kimicari0 The 00 Seven Sword has one too with a decently strong wire.
omgcandy16Kimicari0 The HG Blitz has a wire as well but it's a fiddly mess and not fun to pose.
