  • Not only is this a great seat post, but it doubles as a suspension seat post!
    Could this be the best dropper a hardtail could have?
    Man, we are so close to getting this bike on the trails! The PNW Coast install has been completed and is working great! Not only is this a great seat post but it doubles as a suspension seat post. You couple this seat post with the PNW Loam dropper seat post lever and damn you have a combo to win! I'm stoked that the levers have different color thumb grips because the red looks great on this build :-) Huge thanks to PNW Components for supporting this build and sending over their quality kit! Links to all the gear (including the PNW products in this video) can be found below so check it all out!

    Coast dropper and loam lever just came in today. :) It's been a few yrs since the one that came on the bike
    (used at the time) gave up the ghost.
    Getting back into the game and really needed this again.

      @@rgmtb Unfortunately not yet. Gotta get out soon. Most interested in the slight squish action. If it takes the edge off those roots while seated even a smidge I'll be happy. :)

      @@jeffloucks2120 So I just started today getting the next video done on this build. Pedals installed and all controls setup. In order to get the content for this video I had to actually ride the bike finally! HAHAHAHA Let me tell you, I'm quite surprised about how the post takes the edge off. One viewer commented that he was concerned that the post would "Pogo" too much. Since the travel is not that much and it works with the weight of your body you don't bounce around at all! It's much more like you said and just takes the edge off some when riding a hardtail. I think you are going to like it and I'm impressed so far. I've only tested it a very little bit when getting the controls setup but it's something! Please let me know your thoughts when you get some time on it.

    first thing that comes to mind "im still watching as i type" is when you talk about the "cush" that post can give while riding. reminds me of my school bus "im a bus driver" :) ..i lock my seat out on the bus. It has air shocks and goes up and down to try and give comfort. However it is so abrupt and harsh Ive locked it out..Other wise im bouncing all over the place and jaring my brain and hurting my back..interesting in how that seat post will ride..so i'll stop typing and watch :D

    Does this seat post bob up and down when going up hill? I’m trying to decide between this and the Pine 27.2. I’m riding a 27.5 MTB hardtail. Thanks.

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great question. Yes, it does bob a little when climbing up hills. I have one coming in for my next HT build and I do realize that I'll have some bob when I pedal but I'm willing to deal with that to soften up the ride.

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The thing actually works! HAHA OK, I didn't think it wouldn't work but I totally didn't expect it to work as well as it does. I actually asked a buddy of mine to ride the bike and didn't tell him about the seat. I asked him to test it out on some rough trails and tell me how the bike felt and if anything felt different. First thing he said when he came back was "HAHA the seat". I'll get my finally video out really soon on this whole build. The seat did a very good job taking the edge off of rough trails when riding a hard tail.

    4:08 no grease?

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, do you use any for the seat post? I've tried once a long time ago and the post would not stay put if I applied grease.

    • @mtbboy1993
      @mtbboy1993 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rgmtb if it does not stay put you did not clamp it hard enough or the seat post and frame has worn causing slippage this is common after years of use, then you need assembly compound instead which solves cleaning and slippage, if it's worse than that a thin ship or soda can will work. 😉
      This is what I use: www.parktool.com/product/supergrip-carbon-and-alloy-assembly-compound-sac-2

      and Parktool sac-2 fixed it, but has to be reapplied from time to time.
      but don't use it unless you need to, cus it will just scratch the seat post more.
