    I like the sound of this horn and it is rated well around the internet. It may be the one I end up purchasing. Thanks so much for the delightful demonstration of it's qualities.

      Thank you for listening, Martin. And yes, it's a dependable, solid and fine horn.

    I love the way you put the melody on the Bari and sing. I have played the Bari on and off for almost 60 yrs. You are helping me reach new heights. Forgive me, I listen almost entirely to your Bari selections. Some day I hope to branch out.

      Conley Smedley: go ahead and “branch out” right away! I’m 72 now and just completed my 6 sax collection, from sopranino to bass plus flute and piccolo. I devote about 1 hour to them, rotating every month. I find Jamey Aebersold’s play-along jazz records very useful, as there are no musicians of my age available for practice around. Enjoy!

    Hi, in fact it goes from a whisper to a brutal roar. I can't give you the exact decibels - but I have no troubles filling an average town hall without amplification - playin with an only moderately amplified band of course or a big band.

    Hi, thanks for your comment. Nothing wrong with the Thomann horns. You can hear it here. Pretty good value for the money. And as far as I know, you can test the instrument and send it back if you don't like it.

    Hi, I use a Jody Jazz #9 - the mouthpiece that comes with the horn works, but is much too narrow at the tip.

      @MichaelAusserbauer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Lars, I cant't answer this question correctly, as I don't have this horn anymore. But the case was like any other baritone case. Not too heavy. And it had small wheels, which was quite useful.

      Hi Roy, it's a synthetic reed, a Fibracell medium as indicated in the description box below 😉.

    This is beautiful, playing good sir. I'd be interested to know how the bari held up over the years. I was going to grab a Yamaha tenor but for a little more dough I can pick up one of these. I have the thomann alto. The cheapest one, i think it's the 150. Mechanically it is playing perfect after maybe 6 months but it has started to turn brown on the welds and random spots. This could be due to me practicing by the sea though. It would be great to hear from you!

    • @MichaelAusserbauer
      @MichaelAusserbauer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Martin, still playing the Thomann bari - it's a fine horn. No technical problems yet, not even adjusting needed. It's quite a solid horn, mechanics are stiff and no lacquer wear yet. Still very satisfied with it.

    • @Yourbosskid
      @Yourbosskid 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Michael Ausserbauer That's great to hear. I just today bought a second hand Thomann Tenor from a friend who never had the time to open the case and learn. The antique finish cheap enough one and it seems pretty solid. Back to saving for the bari now! Thanks for the reply and good luck :)

    Is this the BariPro model? I've heard good things and thought about getting one. I just wish I could try one first. Any thoughts on it? How's the intonation? How are the ergonomics?

    • @MichaelAusserbauer
      @MichaelAusserbauer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, it's the normal model not the pro. Handling is fine, the keys work precisely and fall nicely under the fingers. Not at all spongy or wobbly. Intonation is just like on any other modern horn. Still love to play it one stage and off stage. Sturdy enough for giggin'.

  • @MichaelAusserbauer
    @MichaelAusserbauer  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know if you are a beginner when it comes to improvisation. First of all try to play around with the melody with tunes you are familiar with. Try to get some backup tracks for them. You'll find out what you can do and what you should try to avoid. Next step ist to learn some basic things about scales/progressions and use them with your playalongs (or your band). Record your playing and check if you played what you meant to play. Most important is to listen (to yourself AND other players).

      There is one. You can see it on top of the mouthpiece. It's a Brancher ligature.
