    This absolutely explains why traditional therapy had me talking and talking and talking with the diagnosis of PTSD. When I FINALLY found a hypnotist, my life did a 180 for the better. I'm now half way through my Hypnotists Certification. :)

    Replace hypnosis with dissociation and I'll might believe you more. Because that's what it is- a separation of the perception of reality and the self in different degrees. Traumatized people are more prone to be hypnotized because they are used to dissociating as a default defense mechanism. It's what allowed them to survive.

    • @user-yn2ct2ie9m
      @user-yn2ct2ie9m 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can dissociate into a hypnotic state. But I would say that hypnosis is the state of mind while dissociation is the prerequisite to that state. Dissociation is essentially escapism from one form of perception into another. If that perception is a narrowed mantric state, I'd say they are in a hypnotic state. This is especially true for those with PTSD in the symptom of "reliving" the trauma for example.

      I disagree. Disocciation is a coping mechanism to distance oneself from painful trauma. Hypnosis does the opposite. It focuses on the trauma then releases it.

    I’m a first responder and I have PTSD. The event that caused it happened it 2005 and I was finally diagnosed officially in 2015. I’ve been doing talk therapy, ketamine infusions, and hypnotherapy. I’m doing much better but some days are better than others. I’m currently training to be a Clinical Hypnotherapist. Your videos are very informative.

    Excellent understanding and explanation. Thank you! At first, I started in with my guard up due to the title. But I completely agree and this is a great lesson that should help a great number of people better understand PTSD on a deeper level.

    I have ptsd and have had emdr and eft, just trying to recap and do meditation as having a bit if a flare up, eft was good for anxiety it kind of grounds you, emdr was good for actually managing to open up and.speak almost and see the situation almost as 3rd person aspect with the feelings toned down more matter of fact in a way

    • @RyanFowlerSOS
      @RyanFowlerSOS 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Did either of these actually release (fix) the trauma, or just help you to cope with and manage it?

    This was one of the most informed, logical, and reasonable videos I have seen yet! According to my symptoms and after years of unknowingly suffering with PTSD; I agree with your assessment. I cannot remember the memories attached to the abuse, but I began to realize I was having emotional triggers during certain events or experiences which would immediately take me back to the state of mind and emotional state when I was abused. A series of traumatic events happened within a few years of which I have knowledge of these traumatic events, but I have would have no memories of them. Then I began dreaming of certain memories I had repressed.
    I agree with your assessment, because through certain events or experiences; I am emotionally taken right back to a state of despondency, fear, distress, and helplessness.
    Thank you, I am getting therapy.
    Although in regards to being easily hypnotized; I am not. It's as if I cannot be hypnotized. I am unsure the causes whether it be extreme awareness or distrust; I am unsure .

      Have you found any solution for your situation? Your comment describes exactly my situation even the part about not being easy to hypnotise. I am stuck in this rut, current life situations are making it so much worse.

    Ooh this might be why autistics have more phobias than neurotypicals... the hyperfocus factor. We have the ability to hyperfocus on things for better or worse. Interesting stuff.

    I was robbed and beat over the head with a gun.
    I panicked when he tried putting me in the bathroom and resisted and he beat me over the head with the gun.
    I was curled up on the floor in a fetal position, waiting for what a bullet to the head feels like.
    Not that I blame myself, but I was just lackadaisically straightening the shelves, zoned, completely unaware of my surroundings.
    I was steps from running to safety, but froze in surreal disbelief at what I was seeing coming through the door.
    A few takeaways I got from this:
    I had never respected the threat. The threat is real.
    I will always have a security routine: Make sure the back doors are locked, unblock the office door, make sure the door-chime is on.
    I will never freeze again. Run first, think later.
    On the night of May 31st, 2020, there was a BLM attack.
    I was re-triggered and I said "fuck this shit, I'm out".
    I can never do that again, overnight, alone.
    I may watch the video, but I like to get my thoughts out first.
    I guess I say this because I have felt ridiculed for being "over-vigilant".
    I don't think I'm over-reacting; I had been under-reacting and this must NEVER happen again.
    The owner literally tried telling me "when it's your time, it's your time".
    Good, then YOU work the shift.
    Bad hypnosis? The threat is very real.
    I had not been properly prepared for this.
    Well, I just needed to get this out.
    I'm sure it was more for me, than anything else.
    ---------------
    Post-watch:
    Ok, good/bad, I get the context.
    The only thought I have, is that though there may be a hypnotic component, you better believe that I cognitively believe that the location where I worked is a dangerous place, especially overnight, alone. You can't cure that.

    • @andreiadetavora8471
      @andreiadetavora8471 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Of course there are other factors playing in the fear. I agree!! But here, I think he's not talking about fear, but about phobias. What I mean is, if you feel that way, like staying out at night in other (safer) locations, maybe it has some hypnotic component? Maybe...

    Dear Dr. Mark, if you will check your research, tapping has been shown with brain scans to reduce the activity of the amygdala and lower cortisol in the process of an acupuncture needle being activated in the meridians. As a student of Dr. Roger Callahan, the inventor of tapping, and a patient with CPTSD I can attest to its superior effectiveness. I have also gained a great deal from listening to your Ericksonian recordings, Yours, Deborah Lloyd

    So let me break down what he said s trying to explain ... Basically if you walk around on a daily basis in high stress state due too everyday life or trauma caused we are then walking around in a higly suggestable state meaning our subconscious is then taking in experiences good or bad without a filter .... Once you are able to not be in a highly suggestable state all day you now have the filter back up to filter what stays n what goes into our subconscious. If you work with a hypnotherapists they should start by helping you to workout those thungs that are keeping you in high suggestibility first and once your no longer in high suggestibility is when and only when y'all work on the actual reason you had came (ptsd, anxiety, etc) because if you arent out of higg suggestibility than your wasting your money

    How close is EMDR to hypnosis? I have a client who, I found out after doing EMDR training and a few sessions, was hesitant to continue EMDR because I found out more about them, having dissociative disorder, and had to discontinue EMDR treatment. I didn't want to do more damage than help them. Any thoughts?

    • @philholding6905
      @philholding6905 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All I can say is that the NICE guidelines presently do not recommend EMDR with patients who dissociate. Beside major abreactions, dissociation, as you probably know, acta as an obstacle (avoidance), and, albeit non-conscious, can be adaptive when stressed.
